Who still has the first systems they bought new?
doubledown replied to Tickled_Pink's topic in Classic Console Discussion
My Atari 2600 4-Switch Woody was either our 2nd or 3rd unit, wore out the first one or two. My Genesis 2, Saturn, Dreamcast, and all the current systems XBox, PS2, and GameCube were all originally purchased by or for me. -
5200 sticks for a colecovision?
doubledown replied to tyranthraxus's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I'm familar with the Gim controller. I don't have one, nor have I used one, they don't look all that spectacular to me. I was bidding on one once on Ebay, but it went higher than I thought it was worth. I'll get one some day, I'm sure, but visually it doesn't really impress me. -
That's correct a stock, un-modded Genesis Model 3 and neither version of the Sega CD are compatible, for now.

5200 sticks for a colecovision?
doubledown replied to tyranthraxus's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I'm sure it's possible, but why. The 5200 controller is trash. Not to say that the ColecoVision controllers are all that spectacular, but at least the stick is self centering. Plus with the 5200 controller you'd lose overlay compatibility. Besides, there are a ton of used ColecoVision controllers available, not to mention some of the better 3rd party controllers. If nothing else pick up one of the Super Action controllers, they're pretty nice. Here's a link to my website that has a list of most of the available 3rd party controllers. Note: those aren't prices to buy, but refurbishing prices. http://www.geocities.com/double_down_on_11...lecoVision.html My personal favorites are the Suncom Joy Sensor, and the SpectraVideo Quickshot III. If you're interested I've got 8 or 9 of the SpeectraVideo controllers in stock that I'm selling for $30.00 completely refurbished and 100% guaranteed working. -
What do you think of the Chainsaw controller
doubledown replied to figgler's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I'm a big fan of odd and rare controllers. I currently have over 100 different control pads, joysticks, guns, and wheels, and these are just the different bootleg companies making replica OEM controllers they're all legitimately unique or odd controllers. I definately want to get one of these chainsaw controllers. It's a real conversation piece!!! -

Prehaps, or maybe just stocking stuffers. I always get these crazy ideas when I'm trying to sleep.

I'm looking to buy between a couple, to a half-dozen or so, of the Sega Genesis Model 3's. I don't need any games, boxes, or manuals, but I would like the power supply. PM me with any that you may be looking to get rid of and what kind of price you'd like to get for them. Thanks.

A PS2 controller designed for RPGs?
doubledown replied to SteveW's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I have this style, ASCII Grip, for the PS1. http://www.buyritegames.com/product_inform...=1057&last=1010 I know that they made a very similar one for the PS2 that was black, and instead of having a D-Pad it had an analog stick exactly like the one's on the stock PS2 controller. -

Necessary Classic Ganming Services
doubledown replied to Great Hierophant's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I've already done this for the several hunderd ColecoVision and Atari carts that I own. A few of my problemed Nintendo, Sega, and other carts have been cleaned as well. It's not that bad. Most of the old carts don't have accessible screws so they take a little less time. I can whip through about 45-50 carts an hour. At $1.00 a piece that's about $45-$50 an hour. Not too bad. Carts with accessible screws, Nintendo, Sega, and the likes, do take a little longer, but it's nice to have games that work the first time every time. -

Necessary Classic Ganming Services
doubledown replied to Great Hierophant's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Are you saying that $1.00 is a lot and is it worth $1.00, or that the service is a lot for only $1.00 and is it worth it for me? If you're saying that $1.00 is a lot, for 50 or more cartridge maybe it could be pricey, but if it can make a rare cart work instead of not work that would be worth it wouldn't it. I got "X-Man" for the Atari 2600 in a lot mixed with some other stuff for a total of $85.00. The game didn't work at first. I cleaned it the way I clean all my cartridges and now it's a working $250.00-$300.00 cartridge. If you're saying that it's not worth it to me, maybe you're right, but as an electrical techicnian/mechanic it's something that I like to do. I would rather fix something broken for twice what it would cost for a new one just to see if I could fix it. -

I'm not a huge fan of football games, but I have hated the Madden football games, and Madden himself for that matter, for years. This is such a sack of shit. EA is paying the NFL players association $250 per year for each year of the contract. I saw a clip of this news story tonight and they said that in the past, the current Madden game out-sold it's competition like 5 or 6 to 1. Now this year with ESPN's game being only $19.95, the ratio is something like 1 1/2 to 1. EA was appaprently getting scared. They also noted that the Madden franchise has sold over 42 million games thus far. Just one more reason to hate John Madden!

Anybody happen to notice that the seller has a "0" feedback and has been a member of ebay for less than 30 days!!!!. A little scary. Could be a huge scam. Be careful with these.
