1. The digital audio outputs use a Analog to Digital Converter. They can be used with any analog signal, thus the possibility of using it with any modded console. As long as the console provides enough internal room and enough power to supply to the circuit. The RF output still works as it originally did. If for some ungodly reason somebody had a modded console like this and was still determined to use the crappiest audio and video ever they could use that signal. I didn't add any circuitry to be able to use an automatic TV/Game switch. Again I don't see the point on improving the crappy RF signal. With all of the other options, why? I know for a fact that the Composite and S-Video and Analog Audio will work with the Atari Expansion module, I've tried them before on previous modded consoles. I haven't tried the Component Video or Digital Audio with it yet. I have seen some audio problems in the past with the Atari Expansion Module though. The video through Composite and S-Video always work fine, but the Audio is sometimes severely muted. I can only assume it's some kind of model/revision changes with either the console or the expansion module that cause the incompatibility. I personally don't really care as I never use the Atari Module. I just assume use a Modded Atari 7800.
2. The power supply mod will be pricey. The new power supply that I use is an upgraded version of the original with all 3 DC outputs and the ground. It has more power than the original, helping to run all of the extra internal circuitry and it runs quite a bit cooler. I'm going to have the new power switch, switch the power supply on and off, versus the original's which simply switched the power to the PCB on and off. This way the power supply will not remain on once the unit is turned off, even if it is still plugged in. I'm estimating about $80.00 for the internal power supply and both new switches with installation.
3. I've got a set of TI-99 joysticks that I got somehow in a lot somewhere. I can't test them, no TI-99, but you can have them if you pay for shipping.
4. The SEM is great and I'm glad that Eduardo is working on it, but it's not a ColecoVision. Don't get me wrong I'm sure I'll get one, I just consider it almost a new console. If someone made an adapter for the Atari 2600 that would let you play PS2 games on it, is it still an Atari 2600? So untill I develop new mods this is the Greatest ColecoVision.
5. Who said that it was for sale? Maybe I want to be the only owner of the Greatest ColecoVision ever created. No that's not true. Pricing is still undetermined as of yet. I'm still deciding on which switches to replace the original ON/OFF and Reset switches with.
6. Well I've doing some prototyping on my new Super ColecoVision. I thought some of you may be interested. It features: "Intro Skip" BIOS Analog Audio Outputs Digital Coaxial Audio Output Digital Optical Audio Output Composite Video Output S-Video Output Component Video Output Internal Power Supply Standard 2-Conductor Power Plug New Power Switch New Reset Switch The switches I'm still working on figuring out which exact models I want to go with, but all of the Audio and Video outputs are installed and fully functional along with the internal power supply. Please let me know what you think.
7. Why the hell were there so many label variants. Anybody know the reason why?
8. I was just checking out some stuff on the rarity guide and under a search for Sears Baseball I found this: Baseball Sears Text - 6-99819 Baseball Sears Text - 49-75108 Baseball Sears Picture The cartridge I have is: Baseball Sears Text - 49-75125 Anybody else ever seen this variant?
9. Thanks for the link. Do you have Atari jack to RCA Audio and Video connector sold in your website? I prefer to use RCA because my TV has RCA connector at the front of the TV, while the coaxial connector is all the way at the back of the TV. Hendra 861356 The only way to do that is either buying an RF demodulator or having your console modded with A/V outputs.
10. Console refurbishing is $25.00 plus shipping. The details for the service are at my website. http://www.geocities.com/double_down_on_11...lecoVision.html No difference in the Canadian vs. US consoles except the stickers being bi-lingual, and the Canadian power supply sets on the floor with cord leads at each end, while the U.S. power supply actually plugs into the wall blocking the other outlet and most of the wall.
11. I thank you. Of course the power supply could be the problem. Check the outputs for all respective voltages. 12V+, 5V+, and 5V-. If all of those are present on the console side plug than it's probably not the power supply. Try eliminating a switchbox if possible at least for testing purposes. Connect an RCA cable from the console to an Phono/Coax adapter to the TV. Check to see which channel the RF Modulator is set on, 3 or 4. Switch it to 3 and change the TV to 3, if no luck, change them both to channel 4. Also wiggle the cord on the console side when trying both channels to see if there is a loose solder point. The power switch is of course a major concern. The switch's ground shield needs to be de-soldered so that the six contacts and two slides can be cleaned. Clean and condition all contacts and re-assemble. Of course the cartridge slot is another possibility. Look directly into it to make sure none of the contacts are bent too far back, or twisted. If they all look aligned properly, they probably need a good cleaning. Most people will recommend rubbing alcohol. Personally I never use it, but if that's all you got, give it a try. Check the cartridge to make sure that it's clean. Try it without a cartridge to see if you can even get a clean ColecoVision title screen. If after all that still no luck there could be a major component on the board that is the problem. Of course you could always just send it to me for refurbishing.
12. Those Pixel Blocks are definately sweet. I may make one with the ColecoVision logo. Needs to be very large!
13. Didn't they just sell a similar lot? They must of found some sealed boxes somewhere.
14. Here's a pic of Coleco's original SEM prototype. I feel that it's quite stylish.
15. The built-in Atari Module is one I definately never thought of. It would of course definately require a new case.
16. At least let the damn thing dry before you take the damn picture.
17. I know that at least one of my three champ keypad adapters will pass through 2 seperate fire button signals when used with Championship Electronics' Mini Champ joystick. I haven't tested the other 2 for the same compatability. Maybe they only work like that with the specially designed controller. I just don't like having them seperate especially for games that actually require use of the keypad. I have started working on an "Arcade Quality Joystick" for use with the ColecoVision, but with other recent projects it's been pushed to the back burner. Not to mention that using Happ Controls components it won't be super cheap like everybody will want. I'll probably have at least my 2 done here within the next month. I just don't see a bunch of people shelling out a fair amount of money for one of them. Who knows. As far as an off the shelf enclosure goes, I've looked into that too, but then it's just not the same. I still like the idea and I'll research it more to try to find something cool, but the style and design of the original ColecoVision case is what makes it a ColecoVision. I've thought about the power switch as well, but just haven't decided what would be best for it. I've got a couple of ideas in mind and am still in the prototyping stages for that. Like I said I've got 4 new mods that I'm currently working on, the power supply is one of them unfortunately it's not a cheap upgrade, but it will be well received, and I imagine I'll get a lot of "tell me how you did that so I can do it to mine." But the 4 new mods should be available within the next two weeks.
18. Everybody rags on the ColecoVision controller, but do you all realize that there were more than half a dozen 3rd party replacements, including the Championship Electronics Keypad allowing you to use any controller with a DB9 connector, providing your game only required one button. I personally think that the Super Action Controller or the Spectravideo Quickshot Deluxe III SV*103 are great replacements. I've been working on this subject too, but of course other projects have come up postponing any releases. Now of course I realize that I was not the first person to "Mod" a ColecoVision, but it is what I like to think that I am known for. I've done 28 in about 10 months, and I don't do it all the time. I definately thank others for "paving the way", but a lot of customers that I've done business with thank me for providing this type of service, when they haven't been able to find it anywhere else. The power supply is one of the 4 new mods that I am currently working on, I'm waiting for some parts. I think that this mod will be the second most amazing of the 4 that I am working on. Wireless controllers don't appeal to me. "Oh shit, I'm not getting a good signal and I died, or oh shit, the batteries died and I almost had the high score of the world. Damn!" Who wants to deal with that? The ColecoVision junior case is an awesome idea, and I've talked to a few plastics fagbricators, but the cases would be a ton of money unless I had a couple thousand made, and I can't see them paying for themselves. I'm still dealing with them to figure out less expensive possibilites, for this is definately one mod I think people would love, but I don't think that it's price competitive. I'll still probably have them proto me one to my specs, for my bad ass ColecoVision, but selling it to the mass markets without a ton of initial buyers doesn't seem possible. I can't release any other details of my 4 new mods, soon to be unveiled, but please keep pitching ideas. I love to make people happy. Let me know what you want.
19. As the self-proclaimed king of ColecoVision mods, I DoubleDown, ask you the people, what kind of modifications or upgrades would you like to see me perform on this "The Arcade Quality Machine" next? I've already completed Composite Video, S-Video, Analog Audio, and decorative/power LED indicators, but what would really impress or wow you? Tell me what you think. p.s., Let's keep this reasonable, I can't add a microwave to a ColecoVision. Thanks in advance for the input.
20. I don't always wear them, it just depends.
21. I keep mine in a soiled diaper. Keeps the thieves away.
22. If you need any help with it I own the bulk of all ColecoVision controllers ever made.
23. Yeah, I think that I've decided to sell off most of everything that I have gaming-wise with the exception of my ColecoVision collection, my Pikachu N64 and Dr. Mario 64 (my girlfriend loves it), and my Genesis 3 with a couple games. The rest will be up for grabs. Over 30 consoles, 600 games, and 100 controllers soon will be sold. I just don't have the time to try and collect for everything any more. I'd like to stick to just one or two that I really like and play and get rid of the rest. Anybody interested?
24. Hehe, ok. I only listed choices that are already emulated in MAME, so everyone has a chance to try them. Greetings, Manuel 851973 I'd like to see Hang-On for the 2600! Who wants to take on that challange? Whoever would do it would probably catch as much grief as the designer of the orignal Pac-Man.
