  1. Ok, this is one I haven't played in many years. This thread has got me wanting to go home and play Dark Cavern!!!! I did, about 4 years ago, plug Night Stalker into my intellivision. First time in about 20 years. I remembered "back in the day" being immersed in Night Stalker's game play. Umm... not so 20 years later. I barely could play it.
  2. Reactor as a port .... well, *maybe*. But as an Atari 2600 game, it was GREAT fun.
  3. Harvey, I've done some vectrex stuff. The 6809 cpu is a lot easier to program than 6502 (and 6507), imho. The Assembly isn't hard at all, mainly because of the incredible amount of routines built into the bios. Rotations, transformations, thrusting routines (rise over run), collision detections, etc....even sound effects! They were really thinking about the programmer when they created that system. Having said all that...whomever said that the 2600 is most rewarding....said it right. That's THE system. Sometimes the best things don't come easy. Harvey, look.... I know how you feel about assembly language... but you're going to have to do it. Just know it might be hard for a little bit. Once you get it, it (hopefully) will become second nature...and at that point you are VERY dangerous.
  4. Admit it, you feel the heat from this beautiful piece of work!
  5. That's kinda what I saw in it. A phone. It rings and stuff while you play a game....
  6. Joe, Nice work, just a coupla Q's: 1. Does it feel nicer to use than the Super Action sticks? There's a thrift store close to my house that has a box full of NES and Genny controllers, might need to consider doing this. 2. Does it help with destroying Eviscerator 6000 Series Killbots?
  7. Glad you got it. Let us know how much fun you are having with that set...it was an awesome deal!
  8. JBoy- Space Jockey? You really like that game? I like Bowling for the 2600. I have a blast with that game.
  9. Looks very nice! However, at 13k already for just a demo...I am guessing you are coding all in C, right? mmmm.... gonna hafta change that, I believe, if you wanna make a game out of this. Don't be afraid- Z80 Assembly language is your friend!!!!
  10. I got my hands on a signed copy! Yes, it's VERY well done. Hint: hold down the buttons for rapid fire. It will certainly save your hands from cramping. Is there an ending? You ought to keep playing!
  11. I'm a pretty big fan of www.videogamecritic.net and Medieval Mayhem got a PERFECT score! Awesome! The critic rarely ever gives "A" scores, much less A+. Way to go, Darrell!!!
  12. Mark, Well done so far! You probably know this, but the velocity seems to be static for how high the frog jumps each time (well, except for when you do the little hops). I like it... Frog Bog was a neat game on the INTV...one of the few I still like to play head-to-head with someone. Also, the CV is seriously lacking in head-to-head type games...so this would be a great one to pull out at a party! Keep it up!
  13. So, Mark2008, this is a "port" and not a "translation"? Just curious which Z80 machine it is you are "porting' it from?
  14. Congratulations, DEBRO! Daniel, is your avatar a real screen shot of a CV image?
  15. Wow, the artwork looks fantastic!
  16. First score, 5942 on the MESS32 emulator (I'm at work)... I will play on real hardware tonight to get a much better score. (JOE- send me that converted .mp4!!!)
  17. Frenzy! One of the best for CV. Count me in for that and it will be fun destroying Joe and Jetset.
  18. Are you KIDDING ME? That's an awesome deal you got. Yea, it's a very cool little machine. I have a pretty hefty 99-4a collection. Does it have the extended basic cart? That cart makes programming the speech thing to talk VERY easy and it's a blast ot play with. I wrote a clock that "spoke out" the time on the 99-4a a while back. You will love that little computer!
  19. Wow, AWESOME work. Really interesting project. I have a massive I collection (the whole PEB, modem, etc). Still love to play with it from time to time.
  20. That's the worst of them all. It does an awful job with the sound chip. It also allows writing bytes to rom. BAD. MEKA and MESS32 are really good.
  21. Hi Harvey, Lookin' good so far! Others have made some very good suggestions. Definitely need an engine sound where the pitch and speed increase as acceleration increases. Agreed on the simple but catchy background melody playing. Maybe an "engine heat" meter that will slow the car down once it gets in the red? Player must run over gas pumps periodically or else run out of gas? Maybe a power up like a cannon that will allow the car to shoot? ....DRIVING CONTROLLER SUPPORT? Had to throw a "hard" one at ya!
  22. >I love using a controller with the roller controller for this game. mmm... 883k on level 4 while using a coleco roller controller? I think that's why Twin Galaxies likes to have video verification.
  23. First off, great score! Have you tried Twin Galaxies? Go here: http://www.twingalaxies.com. In the search box, type in Donkey Kong. In the resultint page, choose ColecoVision in the platform drop down and click Search. Then choose the NTSC level 4 link. If indeed you got 883k, then you slightly have passed the world record.
