What classic 2600 game would make the best movie?
128bytes replied to Rhindle The Red's topic in Poll Forum
I voted "Other" because Pitfall II, in my opinion, has the most plot elements of any 2600 game and therefore would make the best basis of a movie. -
Here's a link to the scan of the actual circular. Doesn't say. However, my understanding (which could be wrong) is that it is still the same product, and stores sell it for the same price regardless of screen - just look for the "new, improved screen" printing on the front of the box.

Nice work, 5th Ghost!

That's just morally wrong (not to mention probably illegal) IMHO, regardless of what you think of Wal-Mart as a corporation... If you want to cut into Wal-Mart's profit margins, you might as well just buy it for $48.88 the day after Thanksgiving...

And he got slashdotted too - good for publicity, bad for paying for bandwidth from the ISP! Congrats, Ben.

Awesome. BTW, The middle section of Jungle Hunt is a lot like Jaws!

Arcade games you would've made good 7800 releases.

Wow - since Feb 17th, when I posted this, we have Q*Bert and Beef Drop almost finished, plus all of PacManPlus' great Pac-Man hacks - all that's left is Tapper and Wizard of Wor! -
Classic gamer pondering a PSP

Well, I don't know any better because I don't have any other portable systems than the GBA, but the GBA is the perfect portable system for me right now. Especially with the glut of good titles available - I'm still enjoying the Advance Wars I got at KBToys for $5 last week, and I also picked up Top Gear Rally for $10... And with GameBoy Advance SP's being on sale on Black Friday for $48.88 (I wonder if they are the backlit ones!), you can't go wrong on price! I do have GP32 envy, though, I must admit... -
Maybe Canada Post saw the way you picked on them during the "what happened to Trotter" mock-controversy and they are submitting their sweet revenge ...or maybe this is yet another mock-controversy.

I'd congratulate you if I still read your blog. Well, congratulations anyway!

Well, it's certainly safer not to - weigh that against the convenience of placing a snipe bid and being able to cancel it anytime before the auction ends, as well as the other well-documented actual and perceived benefits of sniping. If you are going to use one, make sure to use one with a good reputation and a privacy policy that you are comfortable with. (and I'm not endorsing the one I linked to - I just linked to a sample one). Also, make sure that, if you use a sniping service, that your ebay password is different than any other password you may use - especially PayPal! - that way if a hacker or insider gets your password from the sniping service, they can't open anything other than your ebay account.

Good question. I have 2 128MB MMC's (my regular one and a backup) and they work fine. My guess is that a larger one world work as long as it is formatted in FAT 16. However, this really shouldn't affect your decision - it should be based on other factors since it's not like there is a true alternative today to the CC2 - worst thing that could happen is that you would have to buy a cheaper card for under $20.

It's ok to use the FB2 for any HSC game if it's on the machine, right?

Portable, man. I love my Atari (2600 or 7800) the most, but find myself able to play the GBA more often.

I tried this on both switches and saw no change. 1 button still fired both. Also, I can't find it mentioned in the manual. Maybe you're thinking of some other game? 955789[/snapback] He's not. I play 7800 Xevious with 2 buttons all the time. What joystick are you using? The 2 button mode is only available if you are using a joystick wired for 2 button mode on the 7800 (like the Prolines that come with the system, or the 7800 joypads)

The pickings weren't so good for me either last night, but I did pick up Advance Wars for GBA (the first one) for $5

Rock 'n' Roll High School needs to be done on the 2600. The soundtrack can just be the notes "Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock 'n' Roll High School" played over and over again, but a Paul Slocum-style song background (as he did in the 2600 hacks Combat Rock or Mr. Roboto) would be even cooler.. One idea I have is to do it as a hack of Towering Inferno. The graphics of Towering Inferno can be hacked, so that you are Riff Randell, and you are going into the school to put out the fiery rock 'n' roll records that are being burned by the new principal, Miss Togar! At the end, somehow make it so the building blows up... Another is to do it as a hack of Dragonfire, where you are Riff Ranell, dodging firebombs to go into the school, and you are collecting all the rock'n'roll records (graphics changed from the loot) while avoiding the firebombs of Miss Togar (graphics changed from the dragon). Any other ideas for a Rock 'n' Roll High School game on the 2600?

Activision Tennis was the first game that graphically blew me away. The words "Deuce", "Ad Out" and "Ad In" in a really clear typestyle, the Activision logo, the drop shadow under the ball, the TV-like 3D perspective, the real swinging rackets, the smooth action -- WOW!!!!!!

I third it, but Yars' Return is a new close second!

I had to go with Space Invaders. Without Space Invaders we wouldn't be discussing 2600 on this forum today. It was my first 2600 game other than Combat, and still has fun gameplay options unmatched by any other game. Solaris is cool in that it pushed the limits of the 2600, which makes it really interesting to us today, but it's not a better title than Space Invaders to me.

Lots of good ones here, but I had to go with Mario Bros. The gameplay is as good as, or arguably better than, the arcade.

My best score so far is 43.33, but I have lots of room for improvement!

Personally when I read Kepone is doing this I think to myself, DAMN there's dedication, persistence and self-discipline. Might be because the older I get the lazier I get. I second what Moycon said. And I like how you are applying the same self-discipline to your education, your job, and your health. There have been many times over the last couple of years that you could have just played victim, but you didn't - you just made yourself a stronger person. You're far from the only person to handle that kind of load (I've lived through it myself in my own way), but just because others have busted their ass doesn't make it any easier to do. One other thing - trust me, when the right girl knows you well enough to realize what you've been doing with your life, and that you don't just talk the talk, you walk the walk, she'll fall for you bigtime.

Congratulations, 5th Ghost!

Glad you like it! BTW, Ze_ro, I chose the game, not LarcenTyler. I have had Activision Skiing since it first came out, and it is a great game (my second Bob Whitehead-written choice for the HSC - my first was Stampede). Since most people are used to the slalom course, I chose downhill because it is equally fun and should be new for most people. Tips: - Stay to the center wherever you can so you have more flexibility. - Look ahead down the "fall line" to anticipate oncoming trees and moguls - Try to keep your tips down as much as possible - the straighter they are, the faster you will go. Try to move gradually to maintain speed. - Better to slow down than to hit a tree - Press the red button just before going over a mogul or you will fall. - Going over moguls does not cost you any significant time
