1. The SNES Tetris Attack, ported to the GBA, with 4-player link cable action using one cart, would have been totally doable, and totally awesome. If it came out that way for the DS, with wireless multiplayer, I'd be there...
2. Does it matter which of the three minigames are played, or is it up to us to choose after the end of each round?
3. So, will the two of you be an item long enough to be N-Gaged? Plus, imagine the Game Boy issues if the two of you had kids -- you're the one who would be saying the PSP is too fragile for toddlers, I'm sure!
4. Since Nintendo made the decision to continue producing their own games in progressive scan (480p) even after taking the digital out port off of the GC, and they announced a long time ago that Revolution is GC compatible, it's probably safe to assume they were doing so to make the games look good when played on Revolution.
5. Excellent question - I'd like to know this. I'm also searching, off and on, for a used GameCube with digital out port to become my first modern game system (other than my GBA). My understanding is that the GC component cable needs to be of a high quality in order to work correctly.
6. Well, I sometimes do play little games with the clerks just to see their reaction. Like asking them what the difference is between a Happy Meal and a Value Meal. After a befuddled expression and a labored response, I might ask them something like "Well, I'm confused. If I eat a meal here, aren't I supposed to be happy, which means any food order is a Happy Meal? And those kids meals are cheaper than buying each food item separate, so isn't that a Value Meal? I don't get it; could you explain it to me again??" Often the manager is then called and I just place an order for a Big Mac and Shake without saying anything further about Happy & Value meals, while the manager gives the counterperson a "What are you talking about" look. Or ask them which weighs more... a double cheeseburger or a Quarterpounder with cheese. Then set a postage scale on the counter and order one of each. Trust me.. you'll make their day with this one. Mendon 853418 Man, that's cruel - working in a fast food restaurant is hard work enough without having to deal with smart-aleck customers. No tips, either. If you haven't had to do it, consider yourself lucky.
7. It would be nice if, when we click on "view new posts" that new blog entries would appear in addition to new forum entries. That enhancement would make it much easier to keep track of new blog posts...
8. You actually have a secretary at work? Not only are you gaming in the past, you're living in the past
9. The HSC support built into the Cuttle Cart 2 makes the High Score Cart capability a little less exotic than it was when Curt's High Score Carts were first produced, IMHO. The High Score Cart features (found in the "fantastic 10 (or so)" arcade port titles on the 7800 like Food Fight, Ms. Pac Man, Galaga, etc.) really make playing the 7800 an arcade experience - I love how the high scores are stored permanently (so long as the internal battery is alive, at least!) By the way, a big Thank You to Curt for allowing the HSC code to be put into the Cuttle Cart 2! Good luck with your financial situation, CPUWIZ. I appreciate how you really came to Inky's aid earlier this year when his family was in need.
10. I picked Pac-Man because it, more than even Space Invaders, was the first video game I remember that just about everyone, young or old, really liked and could relate to.
11. It's hard to pick a "Best Ever" hack. So many of Nukey Shay's are so good that he deserves a special category. At this point, if pressed, I'd say Hack'Em/Hanglyman is the best, but there are so many other impressive ones... BTW, Return of Mario Bros. by Rhindle the Red should be nominated - his subtle changes brought new levels of respect for me to a game that plays as well on the 2600 as on the arcade. I was impressed enough with Return of Mario Bros. and Berzerk VE to buy my own copies back when hacks were available for sale. Everyone's great hacks are the #1 reason I bought a Cuttle Cart II -- using the CC2, or a Krokodile Cart, are the best ways to enjoy hacks on real Atari hardware in my opinion.
12. Too bad the GameCube got rid of its digital component out port just in time for it to be produced in high tech silver. If you know of a platinum GameCube with the digital component out port, let me know because I'm looking for one.
13. Well said. "Overall strategy of genocide" is a bit extreme, but you're right - he's a villain, and he's portrayed as a rapist on the 2600 game. Which makes Atari Charles' post on this thread REALLY creepy. Atari Charles, please clarify so we can sleep better at night!
14. I think if it's successful it will increase awareness of Atari 2600 collecting (and AtariAge itself), and will maintain or raise the value of our collections. However, I must be wrong, since Albert is selling off a bunch of Atari 2600 stuff on eBay this week
15. Yeah, it's a pretty great deal, at least I haven't seen a catch if there is one. Where do you live that doesn't have T-Mobile coverage? I live way out in the Oklahoma backwoods and I can get a (weak) signal at home, A decent signal at the lake where I do a lot of fishing, and a great signal pretty much everywhere else. I work in an old brick building that used to completely block the signal from my old phone. The signal meter is almost full on my N-Gage. -S 848040 I'm in New England, where cell coverage per tower isn't as good because of the hills and the trees. Beyond no coverage at home, there is almost no digital coverage (regardless of carrier) west of Hartford and north of Concord, NH, and I need to travel to those areas, so I carry a clunkier Verizon Wireless phone that can switch to analog cell service once I'm more than a few miles off the Interstate. Unfortunately, the N-Gage (and all other T-Moblie phones) does GSM only, which is too bad, because the GSM phones I've tried tend to have great sound quality and battery life.
16. You're lucky - T-Mobile's website says they have no signal coverage at all where I live. Too bad, because free after rebate for this phone sounds like a great deal (at least without looking at the fine print, which I haven't done)
17. Let's see - - Hangman and "Frogs and Flies" on the 2600 - playing GBA games *sanitarily* in the bathroom (sorry, that was last week's topic) - I have been caught playing American Idol on the GBA, and it's actually fun, in a DDR for the fingers kind of way (*$%%# passwords instead of a save game feature, though) ps Kirk - Playing JoustPong from the original cartridge is a guilty pleasure (of a somewhat different kind) for me!
18. I have to ask, but why do you REALLY want the system if you are going to sell it for parts? Maybe you have been spending too much time with some degenerating alcohol You'll see lots of old threads on this, and one common (and good) response is to take it apart and run the plastic shell through the top rack of the dishwasher.
19. Well, they do prevent people from attaching silly "custom" license plates to the front of their cars, so oncoming drivers don't stare at them ("wow, is that the original Fuji logo, or is that the new Infogrames one with the wide center line - let me see here") and then crash headfirst into you Just trying to do a service - we already had one Atari-induced videogame crash in 1983, and we don't need another
20. I highly recommend The Sims' "Bustin' Out" for the GBA -- I just got a copy and find it to be really good (I'm around halfway through) -- a case where the limitations of the GBA forced the developers to make a good, streamlined game optimized for portable play. I'm starting to think that the GBA is the modern-day 2600 -- the 2600 compared to arcade games is like the GBA compared to PS2/Xbox/Cube games.
21. I lurked for over two years before I decided to join in. There was way too much fun going on to stay on the sidelines
22. I really like Zelda more because thinking is more important than battling. You can't beat a Zelda game through boss fights alone. ***full disclosure - the only Zelda game I've played is Link To The Past, and I'm only partway through***
23. Good luck on your auction, TomBrazil. I'm sure someone will take a gamble on it So does Pete Rose Baseball belong in the 7800 Hall of Fame?
24. There already is one. It's called the "Cuttle Cart II". It's got the potential for a game with a total of 512K RAM/ROM, and loads games from flash cards. 839079 On my imaginary "If I had the free time I would" list is to investigate hacking a 7800 game (Donkey Kong, DK Jr. or Mario Bros. would be fine first choices) to take advantage of the sound in a Pokey Chip onboard a Cuttle Cart II. Hopefully someone will beat me to the punch.
