Chad - Thanks for releasing the source code. The CC2 is an incredible product and has lots of untapped potential. I was one of the 2 lucky people who won the lottery to got the last of the Cuttle Cart 2's from Chad this fall. I held off on getting a 7800 (I've always been a VCS guy) until just before Christmas, knowing that I would have the time to set it up and play it over the holiday break. Now that I have it set up and working, it's just as great as I had hoped. I also had my first experience playing 7800 games, and I have come to really appreciate the built-in High Score Cartridge. Now that I am up and running, I'll be able to contribute to the Cuttle Cart 2 and 7800 communities. One minor contribution: the SimpleTech 128MB MMC (I bought it for around $18 at buy.com with free shipping) works without a problem in the Cuttle Cart 2, and ships pre-formatted in FAT16.

It means that Stan Jr. must be a fan of "The Onion" He's going for a typical newspaper headline feel IMHO. ps, CPUWIZ, I bought a slik stik from you around 9 months ago and never said thanks, it works great. Thanks, it works great, and Happy Holidays!

I received my gift today. Thanks!!!!
-
I'm stretching things, but "skeet shoot" and "biathlon" in Summer Games are technically first person shooters.

I think it's a great idea for us to post when we get our gifts -- that way the secret sender can relax knowing that their gift arrived without a problem.

Activision Anthology for the GBA? Can't find it anywhere
128bytes replied to Starman's topic in Atari 2600
I did a quick Froogle search and found it in several places, including this sample picked at random. I have a copy and it's very well done overall. -
And for the modern titles, my favorite splash screen is Joust Pong.
-
Star Trek had a great splash screen. The rest of the game isn't so great, though.

I'm in, too. I'm sending my PM to Secret Santa today.

Some other games with endings (other than the score running out): Checkers Othello Dragster Grand Prix All the sports games Maze Craze

[bad joke alert] OK, I'll be a "defender" here... Well if he was traveling around the galaxy picking up humanoids and deploying "smart bombs", you could understand her desire to "push hyperspace" on the cabinet as revenge [/bad joke alert]

The Epyx trio of Summer Games, Winter Games, and California Games each have multiple stages...

Good topic, Spongebue! Here are some other games that theoretically could work with paddles and would have better gameplay, too (like the awesome Astroblast). Crackpots -- far and away has the most possibility for improved gameplay Stampede Skiing Sky Jinks Barnstorming Megamania JoustPong (you could use the bigger button on the paddles! ) Beamrider Oink! (for the Wolf only in Game 3)

I just bought Madden 2005 for the Game Boy Advance. You can have your cake and eat it too. It's the perfect marraige of old school Sega Genesis early 90's graphics with modern day playability. It's awesome.

My first of many eye candy experiences with the VCS was seeing the drop shadow in Tennis. I was also blown away by "real words" like DEUCE and AD IN actually showing up on the screen, as well as the Activision logo. The gameplay for Tennis is awesome, too. All in 2K!

High Score Club Week 28: Space Treat Deluxe
128bytes replied to Ze_ro's topic in 2600 High Score Club
Great choice! Fruit-tastic! I usually play this on Activision Anthology for the GBA. I know that usually we don't allow GBA play, and I'm ok if we say "emulators only". ...but maybe, if Rasty certifies that the gameplay is the same, we can allow it for just this one time... -
All I know is that "INTRUDER ALERT, INTRUDER ALERT", "CHICKEN, FIGHT LIKE A ROBOT!", and "HUMANOIDS MUST NOT ESCAPE!" take on a whole new meaning to me nowadays! Berzerk VE is awesome, BTW. And those red labels are awesome, too.

Very funny! Amazing that the strip did not feature one single Atari licensed character! I had never realized about Irata until now -- that's just perfect!!!!!! (I won't give it away for the temporarily dense among us)

Keir - thanks for the score summary. I agree that a bye week would be nice right about now, out of respect for Ze_ro.

Atari "Flashback" v. Namco (Jakks)
128bytes replied to davidcalgary29's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Neither. Particularly since the reports are that these are "near duplicates" of the original arcade games. I want 100% accurate, not near duplicates. And if you want it to be REALLY accurate, it should also be a bank! You would put in a quarter to play the game just like in the arcade... (actually, this isn't so bad of an idea). -
My first submission is 3,630 . One of my all time favorites -- I'm getting used to using game 9 instead of my usual game 6. With no extra lives I'm learning that it's more important to get out of each level alive than to shoot every single robot, and to try to do as much damage as possible while a bullet is flying in the air, but not right at me (like other people have said, only one robot bullet can be fired at you at a time). Great choice!

Here's my top 10 at the moment, in alphabetical order: Adventure Frostbite H.E.R.O. Kaboom! Mario Bros. Millipede Ms. Pac Man River Raid Stampede Warlords

My favorite is still an original Atari one in good working condition. My second favorite is the Slik Stik. I have a Wico bat handle, but find it to be too big to deal with unless you are sitting at a table.

Features which didn't make it to modern games
128bytes replied to maibock's topic in Modern Console Discussion
--paddle control! --instant loading of games! --instant game resets! --2 player simultaneous action, with each player at their own skill level --quick game length, but you can't wait to play again -
Isn't this a wacky emoticon from your website? Caught red handed...
