Hey all, I'm in the mood to buy some new homebrew games for my lovely Atari 2600 as I'm a huge fan of the homebrew scene. I've listed the current homebrew games I already own below, and wanted to ask everyone for recommendations on fun homebrews to buy that I'm missing. I'm definitely going to get Mappy and Wizard of Wor, and I'm thinking maybe an additional 8 on top of that, just not sure which ones to get. Suggestions for fun games would be appreciated, and like always we'll play them live on our Twitch stream! Anguna Assembloids AStar Blinky Goes Up Brik Cave In Colony 7 Conquest Of Mars Crazy Balloon Draconian Drive! Dungeon Epic Adventure Fall Down Flappy Go Fish! Gunfight Hunchy 2 Juno First Ladybug Lead Medieval Mayhem Oystron Pacman 4k Panky The Panda Pleiades Power Off! Seawolf Skeleton + Space Battle Space Cactus Canyon Space Rocks Space Treat Deluxe Spies In The Night Squish 'Em Star Castle Star Fire Stay Frosty 2 Stella's Stockings Super Cobra Arcade Sync The Byte Before Christmas Three.S Thrus+ Toyshop Trouble Wall Jump Ninja Zippy The Porcupine

Champ Games - Wizard of Wor Arcade - 2600
Reality Studio replied to johnnywc's topic in Homebrew Discussion
Will be buying this and Mappy complete in box once they are available, thanks for making these! -
Ok I'll echo what others said above, mine was doa on arrival as well and it was because of the included micro sd card. It doesn't work at all and it does indeed seem to be a counterfeit. When I went to format it the tool shows a long progress bar but ends the format when the progress bar is only about 10% done. That seems to indicate that the included micro sd card is far smaller than it actually says it is on the case. In any case it doesn't work even after formatting it to fat32, so I went and bought a new one. That one works fine after formatting! So is the basic way to use this to select your game from the menu and then hit reset to load it? That pretty much it?
-
Just got mine and it looks to be doa as well. I'll try and rebuild it from the link above, does it just have to be reformatted fat32, and the EDisk01.atr and SDRIVE.atr files put into the root?

Umm, do you mean how did we have a good time with It's Only Rock N Roll? It was actually a fun little simulation.
-
Thanks! We had a good time with the Colecovision, the It's Only Rock N Roll game was surprisingly entertaining!
-
Hey all, we played some Colecovision recently on one of our live Twitch streams, figured maybe some here would enjoy it. I put all our old streams on Youtube, the Colecovision one is here: https://youtu.be/_vtsAe6XbLU Games played are listed in the Youtube video info, enjoy!

Iesposta has to take credit for that actually, he told us that's how it's pronounced. Great game btw, we're a fan of games that can be played with one hand because we can keep a drink in the other hand (we call them drinking games). Definitely intend to have an all drinking game stream at some point with games like yours, Wall Jump Ninja, Pacman 4k, Assembloids, etc...

So far these games: Three.s https://atariage.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1042 Flappy https://atariage.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1038 Assembloids https://atariage.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1094 On another note, do you guys know where I could buy boxes for homebrew games? I'd like to get the boxes I'm missing, you can see my loose carts in the pic I posted earlier. I have bought repro boxes from Marc Oberhäuser but wondering if there were more sources because while his are excellent quality, he doesn't have them all.

Just started adding reviews, I'll try adding reviews for all the games we play on Twitch.
-
Yeah they are both exceptional devices, I love them. The AVS is particularly cool because it even has an option to reduce sprite flicker which is really cool.
-
Got a few, this is the current lineup.
-
Ooooh nice, it's on! We're gonna play the latest build today on our Twitch stream since it's 2600 day, so 111,960 is my target I'll test out the Atarivox as well. Gonna try your Three-s game as well, along with iesposta's Flappy and a few other new homebrew acquisitions.
-
Just wanna say even the work in progress we played live on Twitch (as iesposta posted earlier) played amazing, whatever else you add at this point is gravy. Great job, I'll definitely be buying this fully boxed day one, and may buy a second one to give away on our Moonbeam Arcade Twitch channel.

Physical boxes obsolete? The story of Assembloids2600
Reality Studio replied to enthusi's topic in Atari 2600
Funny timing for this thread because I literally just bought Assembloids a few hours ago Personally I love the boxes because it's a nostalgia thing, just like opening up the boxes back in the day when you'd get a new game. I hope that trend continues as I'll always buy boxed over non boxed, but if boxes went away I would still buy homebrew games. -
We play 2600 live on our Twitch channel sometimes, quite a few games I could mention but to keep the list small I think these would work great as party games: Gun Fight Fall Down Video Olympics Freeway Wall jump ninja Frogs and flies Crazy Balloon Medieval Mayhem

Homebrew War! Name your top 2 must own Homebrew games
Reality Studio replied to redsteakraw's topic in Atari 2600
There's no way I can pick just two, so many good ones. -
I like Tax Avoiders, just something amusing about that game.
-
Nice didn't know about these. Just bought Adventure, thanks!

I own both the Uno Cart and the SIO2SD, and ultimately I have listed the Uno Cart on ebay. I just had too many issues with ATR's on the Uno Cart, like Ali Baba wouldn't load at all, Goonies loaded but was all glitched, etc whereas I've had great luck with the SIO2SD, most everything seems to work. If you want to see the SIO2SD in action I used it on a live Twitch stream recently and I posted about that elsewhere. I guess if you don't care about ATR's then the Uno Cart will be pretty cool, but for me I want to play as many games live on Twitch as I can so I wanted ATR's to work, hence I've kept the SIO2SD.

Playing Atari 800xl on Twitch
Reality Studio replied to Reality Studio's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Oh yeah there's endless games to play! I just recently saw a video of a8 Space Harrier, looks unbelievable so we'll definitely try that on a future stream. Also want to try Yoomp, Zybek, Gremlins, Crownland, Thunderfox, etc.... Definitely will revisit Henry's House, and I need to get Amber more into Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves -
Hey everyone, just wanted to let people here know about our Twitch channel where me and my friend Amber play retro games live. We post our past live streams on Youtube and on Episode 13 we played with the Atari 800xl, video is here: https://youtu.be/dbqLNXIQCXk We used a stock Atari 800xl that's been modded with the Super Video 2.1 mod for clear output, and a SIO2SD in place of a floppy drive. Some of the games we tried were Henry's House, Oil's Well, Alleycat, Frogger, Qbert and more! Anyways feel free to tune into us live sometimes, we tend to stick to consoles from the 70s and 80s.
