Gorf, in your opinion, what was the Jag REALLY capable of if properly utilized. Pick out a game that we could relate to.

Anyone know what unreleased game Amy Hennig worked on?
Trip_Cannon replied to DEBRO's topic in Atari 7800
I don't know much about the 7800's true power but I'm gonna go ahead and say, no it couldn't have been made. With as much action as it had going on at once, not so sure the 7800 could handle that. Electrocop is a pretty unique game. Idon't think there are many other games out there that can compare with its gameplay. It's not really a 3rd person 3D game like Tomb Raider or Mario 64. Perhaps "Beyond the Forbidden Forrest" for the C64 compares with its "4D" element? -
SWEET!! Cops N Robbers 2000!!! Then... NOW!!

Would it make sense for somebody here to buy the boxes in bulk to save on shipping costs for the individual?

Does anybody know the purpose or why there was a Mandelbrot program in Chips Challenge?

Did I miss this thread? Link? -John The guy's name is mfeldman and the link can be found here. Tempest was pretty civil during that conversation...

I think we blew that opportunity...

I remember that one of the programmers from Ibid posted on this forum at one point. He was instantly lamb basted and never came back. I wish he would have stuck around to tell us more stories. But I'm afraid the damage was already done... the damage being the three crap titles they unleashed on us...

Time. The PS1 came out two years after the Jaguar. Likewise, the Dreamcast (which is really the first system of the following generation) came out four years after PS1. Given the difference, you'd expect them to be more powerful. Yeah, there's the time difference, which obviously plays a role. But there are those out there who think that the Jaguar is more powerful than a PS1 or Sega Saturn. I'd like to believe it... but can't... Somebody on this board said that there was a magazine interview with one of the Jaguar's programmers stating that it was more powerful than a PS1 or Saturn when programmed properly. But didn't provide the article when I asked for it.

I know I know... I own Battlesphere and it IS a very pretty game on the Jag. But it just doesn't hold a candle with Quake or Nights or Burning Rangers on the Saturn. And, honestly from the pics it doesn't look any better than Darxide on the 32x. I've read a lot of people writing on this forum that they've seen articles where Jaguar programmers state that the hardware on a jag, when properly programmed, is more powerful than a PS1. So far I've yet to see any proof any programmer has said that... But the thing is, we'll just never know because nobody really produced that KILLER app. Battlesphere was a step in the right direction but I would have loved to see that game that showed the FULL potential of the Jag.

It is. Perfect in every way. Amazing visuals, utterly groundbreaking soundtrack and gameplay which´ll last you a lifetime. Rock hard, bordering on the frustrating at times, but only until you get in the zone. Pretty rare also. It was only released in PAL format and a CIB can easily set you back around $1100+. So it's on par with Battlesphere as far as price goes.... Damn... Come on, most those Saturn games blow away Jaguar... why the hell couldn't the jag get a killer app like that?

Though I haven't played it, that Darxide game for 32x looks amazing! From the looks of it, the closest thing the Jag has is Battlesphere and Battlesphere isn't even textured polys! Is it as smooth as it looks?

omg Goldeneye was 4-player gaming nirvana in the 90's! I had so many good times with friend playing it. The 1-player missions are pretty damn hard though! lol I remember when the game first came out I coudn't freaking figure out how to beat the first level and I thought the game sucked! Then a friend bought it and the multiplayer is freaking incredible. Especially once you get all the wacky codes. Oh man, you and me both brother. Goldeneye was THE game to have back in the day. What awesome memories. It was probably the only game of its kind then. You could play doom on a network but nothing beat sitting in the same room staring at the same big screen and cussing out your friends face to face. I remember how I dominated that game. I picked it up not too long ago to play some friends and gees, did I suck... at least there's still memories.

Must-Have games for PC Engine (HuCard or CDROM)?
Trip_Cannon replied to Epicenter's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Why nobody has mentioned Gate of Thunder or Lords of Thunder, I don't know... -
Programmed by David Crane, it's got the same problem as Pitfall 2 did. You play it once and then you try to beat your time. If it had a random map, a few more obsticles, damn, it would be a fun game...

Other books like the one on Commodore's history?
Trip_Cannon replied to TimsterAA's topic in Classic Console Discussion
A rather large read is "Hackers" by Stephen Levy. It chronicles the entire computer movement and goes into a little bit of the history of Sierra Games. -
Is it developed by the same company?

A bunch of stuff I have up on ebay! All auctions start at 99 cents! Click here!
-
Thanks for the input! I had a bunch of auctions up with a few ending on Friday and some more ending on Saturday... I was kind of shocked at what my auctions on Friday brought me as to where the ones on Saturday sold for less than a buck!!
-
So then what's the best day to end an auction?

An update for anybody trying to order from Direct 4. DON'T DO IT! All the horror stories are correct. I paid for the items along with their outrageous shipping and they've just opened a dispute saying I haven't paid. I for sure will NEVER order from these people again.

I can't remember what the technology was called that the Turbo express had, but the screen had no motion blur when objects on screen moved, which made its LCD tops in that department... However, its $300 price tag would eventually hurt its appeal.
