There are some elements missing from the arcade version that made it into others... character selection, robot that delivered items, subtle animations that made the arcade version more charming, etc.. The game gets more repetitive faster on the 7800 than the arcade but it's still a fun game..

I know, right? This guy usually ranks them in order of what he thinks is worst to best.. graphically it stands up against the rest... for me it's just the gameplay.. kind of bleh overall..

I can't remember where I saw this.. I think it was here on AA.. but wasn't one of the original programmer of all those games a member here and posted a couple of times? I think he said that it was programmed in Forth language? And that it wasn't machine code? Something like that? Ring a bell anybody? Anyway, Karateka on the 7800 sucks... I remember my brother and I were so excited when we picked it up... We had played it on a friends Apple and were wondering why so much was missing... I'd say it would need to be from the ground up conversion...

I think you pretty much summed it up right there by calling the game BM... I don't get where you're going with the James reviews vs. the AVGN reviews... Yeah, he's not in character as James but... this may come as a shock... they are still the same person! Where do you think the AVGN game reviews come from? Are you suggesting that "James" should like the Jaguar games and the character of AVGN should not? Or vice versa? I see no where on his website where he states that his James reviews are thorough and in depth...

Then don't you think James has right to judge the games since he has actually played them? More than you at the moment? I mean, oh my gosh! He has an opinion, you have an opinion! And I've heard the Cybermorph/Battlemorph vs. Star Fox argument before... sure, technically Cybermorph has an edge over Star Fox. But I'll tell you one place where it doesn't - FUN! Cybermorph is the same game over a bunch of levels. Star Fox immersed you, made you care for the characters, took you on a journey, was a complete game! And one thing it didn't require was the player to read an instruction manual beforehand. I mean, honestly, who did that back in the 16-bit era? Sit down and read the manual before they plugged in a game... Dude... Ghostbusters for the NES (which is the version James reviewed) is by far one of the shittiest games of all time... Have you played it? Ghostbusters for SMS or C64 or hell, even the 2600 is one thing... but for the NES? Holy crap man the game is horrible... David Crane had NOTHING to do with the NES Ghostbusters... Quoting Wikipedia

She does but I wanted to stay away from all of that and have something simple she could use instead.. I'm not trying to be sexist or stereotypical here but she's a girl who, well, isn't all that technical... If it were me I'd want a nice emu setup (which I do) but for her I was looking for something a little less involved..

I was thinking about purchasing one for my girlfriend... Something new and simple without having to worry about scrounging up a bunch of cartridges from the internet... but I want quality and the build to be good...

Lately I've seen about a thousand different "all-in-one" Genesis systems all over Amazon, eBay, and even a couple at my local Walgreens... All of them little bit different with the style of control, how many games are included (20 all the way up to 80 games)... I was wondering what the user experience around here has been like... Anybody have any recommendations? Any one better than the other? How about the portable units? Do they hold up well? Any others I should be looking at? Thanks!
