  1. of what I own, i would say Rampage, but i think the Lynx's graphical cabalities are somewhat scewed. Is the only reason why the Lynxs graphics are so good because of how big they are?? if that's the case then the lynx doesn't really have that great of graphics since the systems like the gameboy could have smaller more detailed sprites for their screen, at least in my opinion. I am going by rampage because the game doesn't play like any other system and i think the only reason the game looks so good is because everything is so large.

Double Dragon does the same sort of thing in its conversion..

  2. The Jaguar no doubt has more horsepower but it was design with two chips completeley

unknown to anyone but Atari and FlareII , their designers. Brainstorm is one company

making tools, 3DO no doubt had many more. Hate to say it but trying to adapt MADMAC

and ALN to fit the Jaguar was not only ass-o-nine but also proved lethal. The system

cannot be coded with the tools made for the Atari 800 and ST! Because of this, any real

power needs to be done by hand assembly, which takes forever, hence a game like

Battle Sphere. Getting performance like that in no 6 month coding job. Especially for

    two guys.

Was there any documentation provided to developers to help handle machine specific code for Atari's custom chips? I think I remember reading awhile back that Atari was very strict with their docs and didn't provide it to very many coders or companies. I also seem to remember in that article (which may be BS as my memory of it is foggy) that Jeff Minter was able to "steal" some of the Jag's tools while at the Atari's headquarters to use in T2k... If that were true, it sure as hell doesn't make any sense... but like I said, the article I saw was a while back...

  3. I'm not sure on the "Grandpa" thing myself. You'd think on the box it would state something like "Featuring Grandpa Munster" instead of just "Featuring Grandpa." From the picture it's obviously Al Lewis from the munsters.... whatever...

Another thing, in the manual it says "Copyright 1990 SNK Corp." Did SNK do this game?

  4. i'm going to write a review one day about why i think the atari lynx was the best console ever that atari made.

are there any others that feel that the lynx is the best system atari put out? why or why not?

I love the Lynx, but Atari really only marketed and branded the unit; I still think of it in many ways as an Epyx product. Notwithstanding that, I'd put the Lynx up there with the 800 and the Amiga 1000 as the best Atari/Atari related products.

Weren't most of the Atari products designed by exterior companies? 7800 by GCC, Jaguar by Flare, etc... Even Nintendo approached Atari first with the NES with hopes of them marketing it...

  5. Considering how fast I go through normal prolines, $60 may not be a bad investment. I know you haven't had it for that long, but is it pretty sturdy? Looks like you can pound nails with it...

  6. For one of a kind games I look to the computer classics. Namely C64... Impossible Mission, Archon, Skool Daze, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Project Firestart, Forbidden Forest 1 & 2, Tusker... Not to mention all the classic Lucasfilm games... And those are only the ones that come to the top of my head...

  7. Nobody blowing the whistle on what a piece of crap this game is, yet? If not... I'll keep quiet too.

I need to play it alot more before I put a review on my site, but I gotta say the game gives a bad first impression. The graphics are UG-LY and the mechanics makes Double Dragon's collision detection system shine.

Anyways, I don't want to rain on Mitch's parade. He, afterall... is a better man than me.

    Cousin Vinnie

You better hope Chuck Norris and his extra fist don't catch wind of your opinion...
