yeah, that's my plan, at least for issues 3 and 5. I suspect I'll never see them. It might be nice to try laying them out in proper order on 11x17 pages, printing them on magazine-grade paper and stapling them, so that they're pretty reasonable facsimilies. We'll see if I ever get to it, tho.

So, for anyone who might come across this thread: I still am looking for three more issues to complete my collection: #3 #5 #64 #64 (September 1988) is relatively common; I just haven't happened to pick it up yet. I have a pair of Teacs in mine a 55BV and a 54B. I'm trying to get a pair of matching, working drives, but 5.25" drives are getting pretty rare these days. I'm mounting mine inside an scrounged 810 case. At some point I'll 3D print up a new bezel and it'll look GREAT.

Hello! Now that I'm on the cusp of finishing my ANTIC collection, I am interested in completing my Analog collection. I'm missing all of the first 12 except #7. TBH, I don't expect to ever see any of 1-6 but if any of you happen to have copies you're willing to part with, feel free to reach out to me. Otherwise I'll probably just assemble replicas using the PDFs, some 11x17 glossy paper, and patience... I'm about to preorder one of the Incognito boards for my 800, and I figured this would be a good opportunity to also order the AKI keyboard interface. However, information is a bit light on the page, and it doesn't say which 8 bit models the AKI works in. So before I go further - does the AKI work in an 800? Thanks, -mike

Currently, I have SIO2PC and APE set up where the atari disk image is a mirror of an SMB share on my home network. So I can do cross compiles using cc65 on my laptop, and the binary is automatically available on my atari. It's pretty slick for development; no shuttling of files around. Is that what you're looking for?

That sounds like a neat project. It would be nice to be able to streamline that particular headache. Can an Atari have multiple 850s? Anyone using a real 850 for parallel port access might still want that capability (of course, there are also other P: centronics interfaces out there).

I have an SIO2USB device linking my Atari to a windows machine, and I'm running the APE for Windows software. D2 is set to a mirror drive, that mirrors a share on my Samba server, which itself is mounted as a symlink in c:\Atari on my two windows dev machines. On my dev machines I have cc65 and a text editor, which I use for development & cross compiling. Because I have the drives set up in this manner, I can code and build in a windows environment, but my executable shows up automatically on the Atari side of things. Which is kinda slick. Someday I'll bring Altirra into the mix. My current project is to write a REALLY pared down version of emacs, I'm calling FemtoEmacs. But I kind of abandoned that project several months ago, so I should pick it up again. I got hung up trying to implement a really, really minimal version of curses.

Good lord. I haven't used TECO since high school, when I was learning Pascal on a PDP11/ running RSTS/E and that was the editor we had available. I used it briefly in college until I was introduced to the TPU editor on our VAXCluster. FULL SCREEN EDITING! TECO was weirdly powerful in what you could do, but extremely cryptic. A command might do marvelous things to your code. Or it might turn it into mash. Good luck! Save early, save often. I might actually need to play with this. Interesting folklore: -The 'T' in TECO originally stood for Tape. Because TECO really is THAT old. - the EMACS editor was originally written using TECO macros, and the name was derived from 'Editing MACroS'.

It's not an auction - the $275 is a buy it now price. I've been eyeing it for a couple of days, simultaneously trying to talk myself in and out of going for it. I really really don't need another CP/M machine or Atari gadget, but damn...I wanted one so bad back in the day. If it had the co-power board I wouldn't have thought twice at that pice. I used an Atari 800 + AtariWriter for a couple of years in college. I had a Smith Corona TP-1 and a DecWriter II as printers. A couple years later I acquired an S100-based CP/M machine and "upgraded" to WordStar for papers. WordStar was awful but using an 80 column terminal (VT100) was definitely an improvement. I regret abandoning most of that hardware when I moved to Seattle, but I kept the Atari, of course. I'm rebuilding the collection now - anyone have a spare VT100 lying about?

Thanks for all the info! I started playing with RealDOS last night, and it's pretty nice. However, there are a few things it seems to lack (or I haven't figured out yet) that make it difficult to use as a general CLI, most notably the lack of environment variables. Time to continue playing, and maybe pick up one of the Ultimate carts while supplies last.

I suppose I shall now spend some time looking into the various hardware upgrade options, in terms of availability and what they offer in addition to SpartaDOS X. Which ones do you suggest I focus on, for a stock 800XL? I'm probably most interested in SDX vs the others as an OS since it still seems to be under active, open development (that I would like to be involved in). Thanks!

Hello! I'm getting my 8-bit system set again after a 25 year hiatus. I'm using an SIO2PC (USB) for my drives (plus a 1050). My machine is a stock 800XL. I would like to use SpartaDOS as my main OS. However, in looking around, it seems that 3.2 is the latest disk-based version of the OS available - after that it seems to all be cartridge-based versions. Is there somewhere I can get an ATR of SpartaDOS 4.48, that I'm just not seeing, or do I need to install one of the hardware enhancements listed here: http://sdx.atari8.info/index.php?show=en_download_special ?
