If you have the patience, you can scan in parts and I can assemble them in photoshop (that’s what I do, I have a A4 scanner as well), but, as I said before, Nice pics are just fine, just be sure to take good pics of details that you think it might be hard for me to reproduce/ replicate.

Hello lowly!!
Of course!! We are not dead, we are on hibernation mode!! Scans work better, but if you can’t scan them, nice pics are nice as well!!
You can send me by wetransfer if they are too big. My email is [email protected] And remember, all in your time, no rush on my side!!

Yes!! We are finishing to set up the rules, but due to the pandemic, we can’t get together to tweak things up to get to a final version. But the project is alive and well...

I bet there is lots of money to be made from reproduction boxes. I wonder why there isn't a dedicated company for this ? Don't have the money to put up ? Or is there a copyright issue ?
I recently got a repro Atari 2600 box, and it's just gorgeous. Would love a Vextrex box.
That's a good point you raise, sir. I guess, putting the copyrights aspect aside, it isn't a cheap project. I myself tried to make just one for myself and it turned out really expensive, almost to the point that It would be better getting a real one... There are two people I know of in Brazil that sells them, one makes with cardboard but the majority lack in quality of the art material and there's another one that makes them in mdf and they are really beautiful, but very expensive.
Would you mind sharing pics of that Atari 2600 repro box? I'm really curious now.

Hello pucpuc!!! Those are getting great!!! How can I help you? Please tell me what you need and I can see what I can do for you.

I ended up brightening the heck out of the darker one since the text is clearer. I think it'll work. I'll just use one color on the border and ignore what the graph says. It's 59 colors though, yeesh. I have to get a lot of different yarn, so while I do that I started a PlayStation Klonoa rug for a friend that only uses 17 or 18 colors. Thank you though!
Sure!! And if you need anything artwise, please let me know!! And let me say that's a great idea, I think you are on to something here. Whenever you feel like making a Zelda one for some brazilian friend, remember who your brazilian friends are!!!

Haha, Pick Axe Pete! That image is great, but the font gets really messed up and the border looks weird in the graph program I use. I guess I could clip the font from the other clean Google image and stick it on the one I used. Ignore the white font, I'd remove that before I made a working graph.
Was that image good enough? If not, let me know and I'll see what I can do...

Everything looks very well done (game, ad, website). Very professional. Do you know if he's planning on creating an English language version of his website? Google translate works pretty well, but I don't understand the purchase options.
There's a link there for a brazilian auction site, like ebay, for domestic purchases. For international purchases you can let him know through his email and make a paypal transfer directly to him. I'll get back to you with his paypal email. And if you dont want to send him an email, i can let him now myself.

So, the next natural step for me would be to try and make a 3d printed cartridge. So I did, even with my lack of experience with 3d softwares, it wasn't so hard. The only thing I couldn't figure out was how to make round edges, but even with sharp edges it turned out nice. But when I tested it, the part where the bolts are attached aren't close enough, so the card came a little loose, so it didn't work, but it's just a minor adjustment. Here are the pics:

If you're going to pursuit it I think the best is looks for a cart mold.
Yes, definitely. But I think it's too expensive, and my intentions are solely for fun and personal use. I just show you guys the results because you always give great and respectable feedback (good or bad) and if someone gets interested on some of it, I can make it available.
But If I stumble to a different option or find better prices, I'll share with the community.

I'd be curious as to what you did trying to make a mold?
The main thing I was thinking of, was making an actual mold with the 3D print file (if that is possible) and making injection molded cases from a factory. Pretty much guessing it would not be cheap at all, plus such things usually have a large order amount to each run.
On the other hand, how did you go about making the 3D file for printing these cases? Scan an older case, or are you super good at this type of thing? It does look very well done. Possible to get close-ups of the hinges and the slot area for the index card?
Here's a small video of the hinges

Another way to do it is laser cutting acrylic boards.
But will be a nightmare to assembly and glue together all the parts...

Perhaps, you can use acrylic just for the cover?
Edit : Inject mold is not less than 3k last time I research about.
Not to mention the expensive initial batch, like minimum 1k pieces to start.
The cover part would be a nightmare as well, because of small, thin pieces I think. But there's always someone willing to all kind of stuff. i know I would if I had the time, material and the dexterity for it.

I did some research on prices from Chine, but not using the 3d printed but with the actual case. I don't remember the prices exactly, but I can search my emails and get back. it was expensive, I remember that.
For the file, I made it from scratch on a 3d design software using the measurements from the original. It wasn't so hard since it's almost sharp edges, only a few round ones. I am far from super good at this, but with some researching and studying, I got it right.
Here are the pics you requested.
I didn't do any post adjustments, this is directly from the bed.

I'd be curious if this could be used for a mold, or if it is just for 3D printing? This looks outstanding!
Yes, we could make a mold out of it, but not me, I've tried a few times with catastrophic results, I think the rubber we have available in Brazil isn't good enough for that end (but then again it could be just me doing everything wrong).
I think it's hard and well structured enough for that matter, if that's what you meant.
And thanks for the compliment,it is a really fun project!!!

Hello again from Brazil!!!
So I started a personal project again, now for printing the cases just like the brazilian or european ones to keep my homebrews that didn't come with cases, since i find it hard to find empty cases to buy.
I printed two prototypes and the first one had some errors, but the second one is really, really close to what I am looking for.
The idea is to keep the cartridge inside, with the place for the index card and the manual inside, and for the outer part, since I can't print anything translucid enough, I thought about printing the cover of the manual and glueing (?) it on the front of the box, "simulating" the cover. I have some pictures now, but still need to print the cover (and maybe a side label so I can identify it by looking at the shelf, like our friend from the Videopac.nl (and AA as well) grips03 suggested. Once I have it done, I'll post more pics. The third and last (fingers crossed) prototype I'll print with black filament directly and adjust the minor tweaks that are necessary.
Thanks again for the attention.
All the best to all

Printing was just as bad this time. Its like they are converting the 300 x 300 DPI image to 75 DPI before printing. They also shipped in bubble envelope vs. flat cardboard mailer, so all the stickers are wrinkled. This mess was $28 US. There is one other place I'm going to try.
Sorry to hear that!!! If this second try fail as well, let me take control of it.

Hello metarog!!! We are planning a get together next month to play the game and finish setting the rules!! It’s taking so long (aside from the last useless year workwise) because we want the experience to be a 100% like it was to purchase in the 80’s... but you guys lnow that already.. thanks for the patience and support!!!
