  1. Man, I cant read a thing without glasses anymore, but these look great.

I am sorry if your project was stopped due to cost issues. :(

Thanks!!! It was sure a nice project, I guess i could try some other brazilian places, I'll let you guys know if I find anything...

And if any of you are interested on the ones I got, i think I have 4 or 5 left, just PM me and we'll see if I can ship it to you (no charge), and then you can give me some feedback on the quality...

  2. Any word on these?

I was/am looking forward to these being released.

    Thanks!

Hello 1980gamer!!! Nice to hear from you!!

We actually went ahead with the project and made a few prototypes (we = Me and Hankster (Humblejack)) I made 10 packs from a company in Brazil (The cards weren't so bad, but the packing could be much, much better. The fine print was almost illegible and some details were lost, since it's so small), but the price was good, would be something like 15 dollars final price) and 5 from MakePlayingCards (which turned out really, really beautiful all the way. But the cost alone for making them was something like 30 dollars plus shipping, so it became something really undoable because of the costs. but Hnak took some to the Portland Retro Gaming Conference and tested the waters and people really liked them but when he commented on the price, not one said it was ok...)

But I think he may have one or two left if you would like to check on them. I do have 7 or 8 of the brazilian ones if you are interested. I can send them to you as a gift. Just let me know.

    All the best

    Leonardo

PS The pics are from the playing cards we had made. The darker, thineer one is from the Brazilian company and the larger, lgihter one from MakePlayingCards. Hope you can see the differences by the pictures.

  3. It is your interpretation of the original artwork and is technically unique and can never be exact. Had you been commissioned to replicate it or touch it up, you would be compensated for the work. These people would not benefit with out your work and honestly replicating/touching up the artwork is the only legitimate act, since they are the ones infringing on trademark/copyright by selling the artwork/duplicating a product. Unfortunately, you don't have much recourse aside from flagging the listing should in appear on an auction site.

You said it! And very well put!

I guess I'll just continue doing this stuff and face whatever may come. After all, it's just for fun and the love of the games, and that's why almost most of us do it and joined this or whatever else community (helping each other, I mean). Thanks for reading and commenting. I promised not to bore you guys again by letting off more steam...

And the third side of the box is coming in a couple of days..

  4. I know that maybe three or four fellow members may read this and even less follow my "work" around here. But for the people that do, they know that I started this project because of the absolute lack of good quality pics of console box. You can easily find for the new consoles, but for retro gaming it was nearly impossible (specially in this case for the Vectrex), so with the good help of the community I could do my work and make it available for whoever would want or need them. The feedback's been amazing and the motivation kept going and got me excited, the result was tens of different boxes and with lots more on the way. People've been using my art around (a couple of guys in Brazil and I've seen on facebook as well) without even saying hi or whatever, but that's ok because I'm doing it for the love of it and not money nor credit, but when I confronted someone and asked for a little bit of credit, I has to listen that the art was everywhere on the net for whoever wanted to use it (of course, after ll my work...) and even that I had no business nor right to ask for that credit (which is right, because it's not my art originally, it's just a well done replica), and even hear that I wanted money for it :( when it was crystal clear that it was specifically my art (My Vectrex has an inverted cartridge slot and a straight controller), it hurted a little, so as from now on. I'm only posting a low quality comparision of the art and still make it available for whoever wants it always for free, of course.

I'm really sorry you had the read this as I'm writing this for myself to take a little off my chest, but please know that I'm grateful for everything you've done for me, and hope to do a lot more.

Thank you for your patience and time.

    Now to the art!!

Edit; Now that I posted it, I see I need to work on some stuff before it's ready

  5. Hello again!!!

I'm starting this topic to ask yet another box pictures. I just recently purchased a Bandai Vectrex and would like to make a replica box for it to keep it alongside my other vectrex (in which the box is also a replica that you guys helped me build). So, again, if any of you good souls with an original box could share some nice quality pics, I'd be forever grateful (even more) and share the files at my imgur for whoever needs it. My other Vectrex box is ready (actually I kept the first prototype, but I may have found a company that can make a better one for me with my art).

And to give an update on those who were waiting a reply from me to send some boxes, the conclusion is that is too expensive to even offer you (shipping alone is something around 50 dollars)...

    Anyway, thanks again!!!

PS- And if anyone would have boxes from the games as well, I'd use it to replicate mine, any bandai vectrex game

Would you send it to Brazil?

  7. Hello metarog, how are you?

As you may know, I'm pretty new to Odyssey 2 collecting. I started with the brazilian titles, now I'm searching for the american ones, but with eyes open to european as well.

    Here they go:

Brazil: Almost all brazilian titles (2 missing, O Gato e o Rato and O Segredo do Farao (and if we are counting the Ectron Mission Impossible cart is missing as well)). All titles CIB, one NIB, almost all if not mint, near mint, two of the strategy games NIB (not sealed, but in the factory packaging box, I'm not sure NIB applies to that), two prototypes (come-come das trevas (which I'm not sure is a prototype, it says so in the cart, but I'm not feeling it, and Balao Travesso)). One loose system and one NIB System with the factory packaging.

USA: 29 titles up to now (Power Lords included), waiting for at least two more from a friend ;) (Demon Attack and Attack of the Powerlord) so count as 31. One CIB system.

    10 homebrews

Europe: About 30 titles branded Videopac, all sorted out (acrylic, cardboard box). 3 Jopac titles, 1 Videopac Siera title. The Kids in Traffic Title. Consoles: 1 loose Videopac G7000 Sierra, 1 NIB Radiola Jet 25/04 Videopac with factory shipping box, 1 loose Brandt Jopac

Some of that are still on the mail, so I can only send pictures on the near future.

Hope I make it to the team

Thanks again and all the best

    Leonardo

If you need more specifics, please tell me so, ok?

In a second of stupidity, I can't find a way to edit this thing

Updating: Got a boxed The Voice, and my american collection is now with 37 CIB games and 1 Japanese and 12 homebrews, two more Videopac + titles (Trans american Rally and Air Battle) and 7 more Jopac titles.

  8. Ive viewed it... I dont know why it says no views. I dont currently have any but will let you know if I run across one.

As soon as I wrote the reply, it changed to 30 something views, crazy.

And thanks again Roger, you never let me down... ;)

Still haven't got your games, but I'll let you know as soon as I do, OK?

  9. A few years ago, there was a source of 240RB4 tubes. With the proper tube, replacement is fairly simple. I have seen it asserted that many B&W 9" CRTs can be used as replacements for the tube in the Vectrex, but other than the 240RB4 I have had no success with other tubes.

Unfortunately, I do not know of a current source for 240RB4 tubes. Sorry -- good luck!

I was afraid of that, thanks anyway, any information, even a pessimist one is good information

  10. Hello everybody, I've seen people writing about and selling (occasionally) japanese Odyssey 2 games around here amd I got very interested on that. I already have one of those and been wondering if anyone has any for sale. If so, please PM me ok?

    All the best from Brazil

    Leonardo

  11. Hello from Brazil guys!!! I'm writing on behalf of a collector friend that doesn't speak English and has two broken vectrex... he said the problem is the monitor/ tube and he needs replacements... I'm not a hardware guy, so I don't understand this stuff, but is there such a thing as a replacement monitor? I asked for specifics and he said that he needs parts that are located at the "tip of the tube" he couldn't send me pics because the systems are already at the repairs office, but if you need more specific info, ask me and I send him and try to bring back note detailed info. Thanks again for the attention and sorry for the confusing post/ request.
