  1. Great idea and fantastic work so far! I will definitely be down for one of these if a small run happens.

There was a solicitation for grammar and spelling corrections in the link, so here goes:

    - Programmed to not let any detail escape

    - Like all Master Strategy Games, this Bob

    - You can play in either one of two teams

    - Watson a street beggar

    - turning this innovative

    - Fun for all family members (or fun for the entire family)

Thanks, we need all the help we can get... Some of the text might even change but I like the idea of people contributing with the grammar and spelling mistakes.

  2. Hello Daniel, you don't know and I'm pretty new to the scene, like really new, and I' m yet to start to understand what you guys do. One thing I know is that is huge. What you guys do to keep the community alive and running, and to keep everyone else from people that just play once in a while, to great fans, is something simply unbelievable. I'm not just a fan of games, I'm a fan of you guys who keep it all alive. Thank you for that.

And I hope all the best on you're comeback and unfotunately I don't have a job to offer you, but I offer any help I could do that you may need and I can provide.

All the best to you, sir

  3. PM Pixelboy, he is getting his full size boxes made up, I believe, in Europe somewhere and sent to him in Montreal

Really? I'll contact him to get the info then, and this probably will be cheaper than anything I find, as incredible as it may seems.

Thanks a lot adamcon, this is really helpful, can't thank you enough.

  4. It is looking impressive so far. If you get stuck on the plastic cart trays you can just make the little disc that goes onto the removable rectangular cover and just have people glue it onto an existing Master Strategy one. Not ideal but since they are the most generic part it might be the most expedient way.

Do you have any ideas about what the instruction manual will be?

Working on that too, that's most Rene's and Rafa's work (they already had an impressive amount of work a few years ago), and I didn't get to it yet, because I don't have the game, so it's difficult for me to visualize, but it's going to be real nice and most important and impressive to me for an unreleased game, very explanatory. I'll keep you updated through here.

  5. One of this days, in my endless requests for pictures and dimensions of console boxes, one of the videopac.nl members (Rafael, coincidentally another brazilian like me) requested from me to build a box for the never released/ incomplete (for being a Master Strategy game) game The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. The art of what was supposed to look was released along some unfinished art from the board. As the project went along, people showed interest, and developments were made very quickly and with good results.

We started to talk a little more and a little more, until it became a lot more. And the idea to release it officially is being discussed. We started a discussion there about the release and to check if someone else was planning on doing that already, and the idea was to join forces.

I'm here now not to ask anyone for pics and measurements, but to see the real interest people would have and to check if we should green light the project.

I'll quote the text Rafael posted on the other forum and my reply.

    Rafael's:

    "Hi OdyPacs.

I've been talking to Leonardo recently and we thought maybe people would like to have a complete game instead of a box / board only. Anyway, considering that the owner of the game is René, I talked to him recently to vent such a hypothesis. Years ago Rene and I developed what we believe to be rules compatible with the game, and I had even started the work with the manuals. Sometimes, in order for certain things to happen, it is necessary to "make it happen." From experience we know that sometimes a project is postponed, the thing is allowed to cool down, and in the end, nothing happens. I thought maybe it was time to make this happen, the idea would be for Leo to produce the artwork and send it to the publisher, who would be responsible for the making of the carts and distribution. Leo told me that you can average 3 boxes per day. Other things should still be thought of, for example, each buyer could complete his game with the trays of another strategic game ... Well, the problem I see in everything and how it seems to me to have occurred other times, is that there were already More than one person interested in publishing the game. The goal here is to make Odyssey fans happy and see this happen, if we could reach some sort of consensus would gladly. Finishing, for my part my goal is not to profit or something, as Odyssey lover especially the Strategic Series just want to have the game. If someone else says they're going to produce the game by themselves, it's all okay (I'll order a box from Leo anyway). I just wanted to make things clear and good for everyone.
PS.: If you do not understand the text is the fault of the Google translator."

    My reply:

"I second that. And my thoughts are that everybody that had or have plans to publish the game shoul join forces so that it can happen smoothly. I'm pretty new to the scene, practically a baby, and I don't mean to pretend to know how it all works, but I'm 100% in and willing to do my best for it to happen. I already have like 8 prototypes of the box and I think I'm almost getting to the right one. Some minor tweaks and adjustments are being made, and that's the most important and crucial and difficult part of the process. And once I get the box right, it will be easier to build then and the numbers of box per day can go up. I have some thoughts on how to make the board, but am yet to start the project. My focus is entirely on the box for now.If the option would be to each one build one from old boards, I can make some instructions on how to do it (assuming my ideas work).
Anyway, I hope this time we can make it happen and I encourage everyone to give your thoughts and add your ideas and criticism.
    Thank you for your time"

And there's been some development on my part about the board, I already found a way to make it. I'll post a picture, but the art is not ready, but you'll get to see how nice is becoming.

And the idea for the tokens/ chips is that we make exclusive ones, that's already in progress.

Anyway, I hope you all give your opinions, suggestions and critics. We want to hear everybody on that matter

    Thanks again for your time.

PS- And if someone could explain to me with the pictures from Dropbox appear sideways here, even though they are correct, please do so, and sorry for that

  6. Wow, those boxes are looking good! Any updates on the Sherlock repros? This is something I would really like for my collection when completed.

Are you using existing Master Strategy boxes with new artwork? Just curious in case I should keep a spare box around.

I'm about to post a new topic about the Sherlock Holmes project. Some people came together and are considering to officially release the game (which includes Rene, the ethical owner of the rights of the game). The idea is to release with a brand new box, exclusive miniatures and boards and all. The topic will seek interest from the people and also see if someone opposes or are planning the release paralelly, so there's no confusion or heart feelings. And also to see the real interest from the community. The project is developing really well and in a fast pace. The only problem I see so far is with the plastic cartridge holders, I cant seem to find a solution for them. But I will. I'll post some pictures here for you to see. It's from the board (the art is not finished, but the base is almost there) and the latest box.

And as always, the pics are sideways...

  7. And now for an update. I'm having real problems finding a piece of cardboard anywhere in my city that fits the size, without already being folded (and not the right way for us) or that I have to join together more than once. And that's not the way I want to do it. And all this to add to the fact that the printing places here also lack from the quality I'm looking. So I've been quiet because of that, but I'm still searching.

And I'm working on three more box projects and soon we'll have more mini boxes.

And I'd like to remind everyone interested in the mini boxes that the files are already available upon request so people can print at their own printing places (or homes) and that's the cheaper way. If people still want me to send the printed paper or even the box itself (the mini boxes I mean), It's a little heavy on the pocket. Talking at the post office, they informed me that for posting to Europe (I forgot to ask a quote for the USA) is around 35 euros. Thanks again to all for the support.

This will be basically the same message in all the forums where people've been helping, commenting and requesting.

  10. From a current eBay auction ... they're rough, but you could probably fake them. I wish I had a box to measure for you.

That is great already!! I can make the structure and then, when someone send the dimensons, it will be easy to adapt.

But still, for the pictures of the console, the hands playing and the master system adaptor, if someone could send these pictures from the box from up close (and the measurements, cant stress that enough), it would help a lot. The rest I can manage from Flojomojo's help.

Thanks a lot for the help. ;-)

  11. That would have been the launch box with Altered Beast packed in and prominently featured. I see plenty of front shots, but a cursory search didn't turn up any pics of the sides or back.

I love what you're doing here.

Yes, that's what I thought, at least that's the first one that came out in Brazil. I found a picture of the back of the box, but the sides is turning out to be very hard. But the main thing I need, the most important, are the dimensions of the box. If I can get that, I think I can manage to make the box with internet pictures.

So, I'm still begging for a nice soul to provide the pics and dimensions.

    Thanks Flojomojo and everybody.

  12. Hello everybody. I've been around the other forums asking people for some high quality pictures/ scans from console system boxes so I can store my systems properly, since I have them since I was a child and had no regards for keeping them. Now it's hard to find empty boxes to sell them in Brazil and when I do they charge prives that are almost or even higher than the consoles themselves.

And some people seemed to enjoy the idea and started meking requests. And I got a request for a box for the Sega Genesis (launch-era he called it). Would anyone that have the box be kind enough to take some pics and measure the box?

I always keep updating the topic with the progress and share the final archive with whoever asks for it.

Someone even suggested that I made mini replica boxes for display and they turned out really cool boxes.

I'll post some pictures of them.

Anyway, thanks for your time, and hope to get the help I need to help our friend.

Sorry for the sideway pictures, but the forum isnn't handling well my pictures...

  13. A couple of things to note...

    1. When it comes to a replica box, I'm going to be EXTREMELY picky as I personally would only want one if it was VERY close to the original box, like so close that it was hard to tell the difference.

    2. Looking at the pictures of your mini box I notice a couple of things that would prevent me from buying the full-sized product:

    3. The colors are very over-saturated and don't look right to me (look at the blue on the Donkey Kong cabinet and the controller on the front and compare it to a real box)

    4. You seem to have the background gray color close, not perfect enough for me to make a purchase, but it seems like you've also lost that "shine' that the original box has.

    5. From the looks of it, it would appear these are being printed on very thin paper. I would hope the full-sized box would be printed on exactly the same thickness as the original box.

Again, sorry if I sound like I'm being overly critical, it's just that I feel this is one of those things that it needs to be PERFECT or it's something that shouldn't be done. Just my personal thoughts on this...

Hi TPR, thank you for that.

I don't know if you've read the previous posts, but I think exactly like you.

Here are some information about this project specifically.

My original idea was to make a replica box (the large one) since I don't have one and can't find any to buy. It was a personal project and that's why I came to the forum, to ask for pictures and dimensons for it (hence the topic).

These ones that we are looking at, I made from pics I gathered from the net guerilla style. You can see that I didn't use any pictures from the original box. Even the console itself is a different one. But now, I'm getting help from our fellow member Todd ( SiLic0ne t0aD85) who is going to send me some actual pictures and actual dimensions, so I can fix it.

Then some people suggested that I make mini boxes since I'll already have the art for my big box.

I never had or have the intention to sell wheter the big or small one. But there's been some interest and I'm reporting to those who manifested it. If people would want me to send them only the art or the final product, it's their decision, and if I'm to charge anything is the cost of the box and the shipping, for those who have two left hands (as they say).

I'm only making it and myself available with whatever I can do to help, since people has been very helpful to me, and that's the sense of a community right?

Anyway, thanks for your feedback, and If you could be a little more specific with your ideas (I mean post the correct colors, for example), or even throw some new ones so we can make it better, I'll be more than thankful. That's why I came to this forum, to get all the help I can.

  14. In another post from a different forum, Dr Manhattan suggested that I built mini replica boxes from the original ones, and I tought it was a great idea. It not only helped me a lot on seeing what problems I might have with the big ones, but also turned out to be amazing. This is the first attempt and I have some tweeking to do. But I think we'll have a definitive one on the next try.

Thanks again to all for the support.

  17. Update on the mini replica boxes!!! I printed some on a thick paper and they turned out amazing already, It also helped me see the problems I might have with the big ones. The first attempt was almost perfect, I think by the second one we'll have something to offer. I added an extra picture with some of my other projects.

Thanks again to all for the support.

  18. Update on the The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes box. I did a couple of more prototype boxes to test materials, and the second box was a disaster, a total mess. I won't even post the pictures. But the third one is really getting somewhere. I'm still having some problems with the assembly, but I'm always working on a solution. The text still need work, and we're working on that as well. Here it is:

Edited: I don't know why it's getting upside down, but I think you get the idea.

  19. Sure, I can do that for you. I have a boxed expansion module #1 and the roller controller, but not a boxed driving controller. Everything is in descent shape, other than the roller controller box. However I could do pics of the inside on that at least if it would help you. We should probably continue this via Pm though, I'll send you a message here shortly or feel free to send me one. :)
