Free Atari 800 Mechanical Keyboard, missing some keycaps
toddtmw replied to Jeffrey Worley's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Do you have a flat tire you want to give away too? 😭 -
I added a Q to the FAQ about keyboard layout and linked to the keyboard layout page and then added keyboard mapping tables to the bottom of the page and noted how to determine which mapping to use, based on the layout of your keyboard. I did run into one issue that will impact anyone who wants a minimalist keyboard. The Atari Break key is mapped to Pause/Break on the Windows keyboard. All of the small keyboards listed above (along with the one I just bought) do not have that key. @foft, would it be possible to request a map change for this? The tilda key looks awfully lonely up there and does not appear to be mapped to anything else... Anyway, the FAQ is here: http://www.64kib.com/redmine/projects/eclairexl/wiki/Faq There really are not many Q's. If people want to add them, I would be happy to start gathering information and publishing answers to them. Thanks! Todd

@wt808, what specs did you use to create the cases? (I know we're not supposed to mention cases, but he created cases using specs so...

I looked at one like this on Amazon and the keys were backlit blue. Given I am going to put opaque stickers on it, I was concerned that would look weird. I ordered a chicklet wireless one and am charging it now. Once I get it charged, I will post whether (and how well) it works. Thank you.

I could do that. All I ever did in that game was go as high as possible and then afterburner straight down to rip the wings off by going too fast.

The most famous for me, anyway, was SAM. Originally, it had to turn off the screen when it talked. You could leave it on, but it affected speech quality. I think later they had a version that sounded better with the screen on.

3D Modelling and Printing. Mostly on Topic.
toddtmw replied to Mr Robot's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Here's the problem. (At least from my perspective...) These things take a long time to print. Assuming these cases would benefit from multiple colors, you can't even print it all at once even if you have a printer big enough to do so. So, let's say you can print one case a day on average if you bulk print the pieces that are the same color. How much do you charge? And oh by the way, you've now lost the use of your printer as long as there are orders. And if there aren't enough orders to justify bulk-prints, then it's less than one per day. My sister makes greeting cards using stencils and cut out paper when she gives someone a birthday or annversary present. Peoeple are like, you should do that for a living. It's a hobby for her. Given the amount of her time and the cost of materials each card takes, in order to make it worthwhile she'd have to charge like $20-$30 per card. (her actual words were she can't make the price high enough.) No one is going to pay that price for a card. It's the same thing (as far as I'm concerned) for printing things. There are people that looked into having an eclaire case printed. Peopler were getting quotes over $100. I'm printing one for someone on the board.I'm chargin $20. It will tie up my printer for at least 2 days and then I have to ship it. I'm happy to do that occasionally for people here, but if I was doing this more frequently, I'm not sure I could charge enough to make it worthwhile. Of course, that's my opinion. If you don't agree with me, I'll change it. -

I was using the layout in the manual on the 64kib page. I’ll try that tonight -

Looks like you live in Dallas. If @wt808 doesn’t mind, I’ll print and ship you one for $20. (It takes quite a long time and a lot of support filament for me to print them on my printer. People with a larger bed could probably do it cheaper. ) Todd -

I’ve been poking around http://www.64kib.com/ some of the information there seems dated, however. Todd -

So. Hey! Is it possible to use one of the spare expansion ports to add Ethernet or WiFi? or maybe make it work with a usb Ethernet or WiFi adapter? that would be fun! -

Now I can finally play pitfall the way it was meant to be played!!!! (50" screen!) The two tone was a happy accident. I ran out of grey filament. Really wanted to print with this thing! Alas, maybe another day... Happy 1050 Printer ready to go! Loaded up. Alas, the arrow keys do not work on the Uno Cart either... -

Okay. I am trying to do Print Shop from a real disk to a real printer. When I get to the Print Shop menu, the arrow keys do not work. Anyone have any ideas what I need to do to fix that? I tried control. No joy. -Todd -

Does anyone know how to program a usb joystick on the EclaireXL? -

Okay. I removed the excess support material from my new bottom case. You can see the new standoffs I moved The holes look better (BTW, is there a story behind the little bugs silk-screened on the board?) But, now I ran into a new problem. The standoff on the top nearest the SD port, overlaps the SD port. This one Dremel Time! Much better! Here we go. Looks GREAT!
