I would think we would want to be able to filter on platform? I am less interested (for example) in custom 2600 software than I am in custom 8-bit software...

Who is selling it/modifying it?

Should we create an 8-bit Hardware Development Subforum?
toddtmw replied to Albert's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
it appears (as usual) I am in the minority. I'd love to have a list of all of the hardware mods and custom software linking to the threads talking about them, however... -
Is that going to get the attention of A8 developers?

Seeing the Pacman thread being resurrected reminded me. There are so many games on here in threads where people posted them. Has anyone compiled them into one location? Is there a way to search for them on the forum? Thank you.

So anyway. Best Electronics. You all remember Best? It’s what this whole topic is about ....

3D Modelling and Printing. Mostly on Topic.

Well, hopefully it will all just "work" fo you. It has been my experience that often things that look good on the screen run into trouble in the real world. Even just printing one of each of these will likely take a week and that's assuming nothing needs to be tweaked. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong and they all fit together perfecly on the first try. -
Atari compatible hardware eclaireXL, in mini form.

Alas. My printer is not big enough to print the case top or bottom as one piece. I am working on remixing it so that it will print as 2 pieces that (hopefully) snap together. I will (of course) share if I get it working. -Todd -

Tinkercad is easy to get started with, but some things can be difficult. I'd love to hear some of the techniques you are using. One thing I haven't figured out is how to bevel the edge of something that is not straight. Say you want the top of a thing to have a edge that runs front to back with a curve rather than a straight line. I can create the curved plane, but I cannot figure out how to bevel the top of that so it is not a harsh 90-degree corner. I'm sure there are tutorials out there. Perhaps I will do some investigation. These look really awedome, by the way. I have been wondering for a while now if we could recreate all of the plastic bits of all of the Atari things using 3-d printing. Someone has posted a 1050 face plate. I haven't printed it, but it looks pretty close to the original. How cool would it be to be able to print an entire 1050 enclosure? -Todd -

When I was looking I found two different Diodes. According to my Amazon history, the other ones are these: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0167YE24C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 So, I think I'm set.

😀 it was stupid. I basically kept doing the same thing and it kept failing. I mean, it’s really not that hard!

1. All the text adventures, I used to pretend that I liked when we talked about games. 2. Strip poker. It really was a pretty good poker game. The potential pixelated "nudity" was just a bonus... 3. Star Raiders. Just was never a fan.

Well, after replacing the Uno, wiring it 17 differnt ways and finally breaking down and cutting a known-good cable in half, I still could not get the SDM to work. I kept getting SIO errors. I had only soldered 4 wires, it was the only thing connected, it was powere by USB and every time I tried to boot, I got one beep and sio errors. So, I ordered a screen, but (apparently) because of Prime "day" (it's two days, so ...) 2-day prime shipping was going to take three days. So, I took the micro SD card out, reformatted it, reloaded the few disks on there I had been trying to get work and put it back in and ... it worked. No idea. One other thing I did was run dot_clean to remove the stupid hidden Mac files, but I can't believe that was the issue... I'm really kind of annoyed that I wasted so much time on this. It's just crazy. Now, I need to work on the diode and pin 2 bending to allow it to work with other things. I have about 100 1N4148 siwtching diodes. I hope that is what I need. I also cannot find the switches I bought a long time ago for another project, so I ordered some of those. In the mean time, I am putting together my list of disks I want to put on it from the latest torrent. Then I have to decide what case I want. I have a couple printed, but I want to modify one to have holes for the two switches. (drilling holes is soooo 2008...) So if anyone has issues, rebuild the disk. You never know...

Okay. That is helpful. But, if I am running off of a clean windows install and just want to use Respeqt to boot into MyDOS, I have to load Altirra to convert it to .atr. It just seems like it would be easier if the official MyDOS page had an .atx version on it. I have a copy I am going to keep handy for me, just thinking it might be more user friendly for others to offer .atr versions.

Does anyone make new Atari 8-bit cartridge shells?

Threre is a cart shell on thingiverse you can print. I haven't printed it ... yet. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3129211 -
Hi. @mathy's MyDOS page only seems to offer downloads in .arc format. I downloaded a .arc utility and it wouldn't unarchive it. Can someone please point me to a utility that will work with the .arc files? (Mathy has a file that is supposed to do it, but my browser thinks it is a media file.) @Mathy, would you ever consider posting .atr files on your site, rather than .arc to make it easier for people to use MyDOS? (Or is this one of those tests where if you cannot figure it out on your own, you're not worthy?) Thank you.

Code Nazi Grammar Nazi 😉 I must not have done much string handling in my Atari days. Either that, or I blocked it out after I found other languages that did it so much better....
-
Okay. I know I’ve programmed in many many (too many to count) languages since my Atari days, but I simply do not recall how poorly Atari concatenates strings. Is there really no A$=B$+C$ type functionality in Atari basic? Is the “best” approach really this clunky?: A$=B$ A$(LEN(A$+1)=C$ I do do not recall having to code this “badly” BITD...

@phaeron, I really love the expanded video mode, and while being able to use arrow keys to bring up recent commands is great, it means I cannot arrow up to edit a line in basic. is there an option somewhere I am missing? thank you.
