  1. Thank you for looking into it. This is is a relatively new install. I have most accelerations turned on. I originally experienced it on a real win 10 box. I usually use a Mac and had been wanting to get wine running so I installed wine, downloaded 3.20 and set it up and had the same crash there. I’ll post more information with screenshots when I get home.
  2. Pretty much just boot Dos 2.0s on a 320k XL/XE NTSC machine to BASIC. Turn on enchanced video (sio intercept) hit ctrl-v Boom.
  3. Hi. I just found a bug that crashes Altirra 3.20. When I am in enhanced video (SIO Intercept) mode and hit ctrl-V Altirra crashes.
  4. @phaeron, I just discovered the larger editor option. It's aawesome! However, I believe I may have discovered a minor bug. I program with warp speed turned on. So, attract mode comes on pretty quick. When using the larger debugger, (enhanced video (SIO Intercept)) attract mode comes on even when typing and does not go off. The only way I found to turn it off is to poke 77,0, but that only lasts a minute or so. I'd actually love to have the option to turn attract mode off completely at the emulator level. For most people, it's not really needed anymore. Thank you! -Todd
  5. @phaeron I have been working on a little BASIC program using Altirra. I just discovered the really cool large-screen mode! It REALLY makes the devlopment process easier! However, I believe I have found a small bug. I am running in "Warp Speed" mode and that causes Atract mode to come on pretty quickly when the machine is idle. In normal display, pressing a key cancels attract mode, but with Enhanced Video (CIO Interrupt) turned on, Attract mode does not turn off. The only way I have found to turn it off is to poke 77,0 and that is only a temporary measure. I just did another test and actually, Attract mode comes on whether I am typing or not and once it is on, it will not turn off until I poke 77,0. BTW, I would LOVE an option at the emulator level to disable attract mode. It really isn't necessary anymore for most people. Thank you! -Todd
  6. I used this screen. It is 2.8" and fits in the cases I have printed. (It's also $15) https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EUVJYME/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 A couple of the 3-d cases available have both mini and micro usb versions. You can print the one that matches the board that you get.
  7. I’ve not used an XEGS. Are you holding option when you are originally booting?
  8. Did you ever get this working? I'm looking to do something similar.
  9. 220, 221. Whatever it takes. So. Is it 3.56 or 3.96? so confused. 😐
  10. I said I didn’t see it, not that it wasn’t there. 😀 this is awesome. Thank you.
  11. As I alluded in my OP, I already looked at that. It didn’t.
  12. I'm trying to design a 3-d printed SIO port (with the pins, I guess that is male, even though the plug with the holes go into it? I feel like I'm in 6th grade sex-ed all over again, except without the uncomfortable gym teacher...) I was thinking that I'd rather put one (or maybe 2) of those on my SDM case and use standard SIO cables to connect it. I have the actual 3-D model done, and I can actually take the part with the holes and cut out the sides and slip it over an SIO port and the pins go through the holes. I just don't know where to get the pins to put into the holes to complete the port.
  13. Hi. I've googled, I've measured, I've even used the 3-d models for the plugs, but I cannot find a definitive answer. I've seen people say things like read the sio spec, etc. I'm trying to figure out the pin pitch for the SIO port. Looking at the 3-d printed SIO plug, it looks like it is about 3.65 mm or maybe 1/7 inch (Which is closer to 3.60 mm, but when I use that, it doesn't seem to line up on the plug). Anyway. Can someone tell me definitively, what pitch the pins are? Bonus points if you know where I can get pins that are already in a header with that pitch. I looked on Digikey and it appears they go from 3.5 to 3.5 to 3.81 mm. Skipping 3.6 and 3.65 altogether. Thank you for any advice anyone can share! (I promise whatever comes from this, if I am successful) will be shared back to all under CC. -Todd
  14. I'd suggest investing in a SysCheck 2.2 device. http://www.van-radecke.de/STUFF/tfhh_HW_info.pdf This thing is awesome. It can bypass RAM and OS and make a non-working computer working with nothing else being replaced. It also has diagnostics that can confirm what RAM chips are bad and whether the OS is bad or not.
  15. But, man, the SDM REALLy IS a thing of beauty!
  16. When I worked in retail, we consistenly wanted a 40% markup. The owner of the store had special calculator, because Markup is not the same as margin. From https://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/102714/whats-difference-between-profit-margin-and-markup.asp: 40% markup for a brick and mortar store. (Admittedly. this was in the late 80's but still....) A $24.03 cost and a $99 revenue yields a markup of 311.985% Nice gig if you can get it... Now, a 40% markup of $24.03 is $33.64 or a $9 profit. I cannot speak for everyone here, but I would not be willing to make one of these for $9. We're back to capitalism. If someone here thinks $99 is too high, start making and selling them for less.
  17. Both of my neighbors are retired and both still cut their own grass. I'll never be able to get to the point where someone else cuts it for me. (Although, with the 2+ week string of constant 90+ (F) days where the weather app says "Feels like a sauna" I'm REALLY tempted...
  18. And let's not forget what a "JOY" it is dealing with the public. (including me, I'm a terrible customer.) There are all kinds of threads on this board with topics that complain about a real or perceived injustice they experienced at the hands of someone just trying to turn their hobby into something more. (Prertty sure I started or contributed to at least one...) Bottom line. The SDM software was released under GPL. There are very few restrictions on what they can do with it. With the exception of the circuit @mrrobot created (I'm not sure how (if at all) that was licensed) the remaining hardware is generic and freely available. Most of the original 3-D printed cases do not seem to have any license associated with them that I can tell. So, while it would be nice if people doing derivative works would share, it does not appear to be required. Imagnie for a moment that the software had been released under creative commons NC/SA license. That license would prohibit people from charging for anything with the software installed. Assuming a vendor wanted to be legal, they'd have to assemble the devices, but could not put the software on them. Admittedly, flashing the software is easy, but still... (Again, not that we could do anything but try to SHAME people in violation of the agreement in this hypothetical situation...) Would we rather people offer these items so that people that can't (or don't want to) make these can also benefit from them? Or do we really want these to be limited to people that can make one themselves. Presonally, everything about this is a perfect "starter project" to get back into soldering after having not done much since I left the Air Force 25(ish) years ago.
  19. You could do what I am (apparently) doing. Just keep buying more shelving untis for the basement and stack the stuff up like cord wood and then not be able to find anything when you need it. (But, I don't recommned that approach...) -Todd
  20. The cost of printing something is easy to figure out (barring electricity costs and wear and tear on the printer). A 1 kg roll of Filament costs about $20. That roll can print a KG worth of "anything". My slicer says the XE case that was shared earlier will weigh about 40 grams. So, the $20 roll of filament would print about 25 cases, so they cost about 80 cents in materials to print. Now, the issue is time. At the highest quality my printer can do, it will take 5 hours to print one. I have a day job, so if I start one in the morning before going to work, and then another when I get home, that's 2 per day. If I stay up late enough, i might be able to start another before going to bed and do 3 per day. My sister had a friend who had a hair pick that she really liked. It was a prototype and the company that made it decided not to make them. She broke one of the tines. I spent a few weeks (as I had time) and designed one that was pretty much exactly the same and gave it to her. She was like, "you should sell these". She makes hand made cards for people for their birthdays and things. Each one takes a long time to make. I aksed her if she ever thought about selling them. She was like, no, it takes too much time, I'd have to charge way more than people would be willing to pay to make it worth my time. I was like, yep. Same thing with 3-D printed things. That reminds me, I really need to publish that thing on Thingiverse... -Todd
  21. $25 for a CASE!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Anyone wants an SDrive case, PM me. I'll print you one for what it costs me to ship it to you. (Probably around $3 in the states) I'd offer to make the whole shebang, but I'm having trouble getting my own to work. I just ordered another Uno and some different wire, so no one wants one from me anyway... -Todd
  22. @Mclaneinc, you have no reason to feel bad. No one is blaming you here. You got a useful device at what you feel is a reasonable price. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I, personally, amd glad you are enjoying it! I would hope that that is what the people that work on these types of things want. -Todd
  23. @mrrobot, it looks like the sdrive software is GPL, which explicitly states it can be used freely and sold. So, there really isn't any protection there. What (if any) license did you assign to the SIO2USB board you designed? I'm no lawyer, but unless we can find a portion of the device that has a more restrictive license than GPL, we don't really have any recourse. (Not that it would really matter if we DID have recourse, because unless we can shame him into changing how he operates, it would seem the only other option would be some (I'm assuming, expensive, again, I'm not a lawyer) legal proceedings. All of the 3-d models I have pucblished so far have been Creative Commons, which prohibits commercial use and requires sharing derivative works. But, again, good luck enforcing it. All that being said, the more people that use this thing, the better off the overall community is, so it is nice that there are people willing to provide a service. it's really just a matter of how much is a reasonable profit for this service. -Todd
