Unless he designed it from scratch, selling them is definitely a violation of the license agremeent. It's becoming a sticking point for people. -

Glad you finally got one! The quality of that case print looks really nice. -Todd -
Yep. I understand your point of view. Personally, I have released my designs freely on Thingiverse. Most designs (including mine) are published under the Creative Commons share and share alike license for non-commercial use. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/ I guess it's good that kbr didn't publish his cases with that license, because it's clear from the pictures posted above that your case is derivative of that (The base plate, especially), and you would be in violation of at lest two terms of the Creative Commons license above with your design. I wish you luck on your future designs. I hope no one rips you off. Todd

I’ll send you a copy if you pm it to me. I’ll even send it to you and wait until you get it before I print another one for myself. (I’ll also keep it to myself ...)

What a tease. 🙂

That looks really nice. If you export it to individual .stl files, I’d be happy to do a test print and provide feedback.

Hold a stylus or finger on the screen while powering the SDM up.

I don’t think you want to use pins 0 and 1. Those are typically used for xmit and rcv and can cause issues if you try to use them like you are trying to use them.

Oh. Cool. I see that now. Okay. That looks cool! If you need help with the split and the join, let me know. Thank you.

I can't easily print anything that big on my printer and for what it is going to hold, it doesn't seem like it needs to be that big. So, I am going to start with this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1310706 Scale it to 85% and then go from there. I'll post progress. I get that you probably want it to sit in with all your other drives, but between the fact that I cannot print that big and the amount of material that will waste, I'm going to try a different approach...

Perhaps you can look at how I connected the lid of the Kryoflux case to the base. I didn’t design the original, but altered it to look more like an XF551. The approach i used here here holds the top pretty securely to the base. https://www.tinkercad.com/embed/eGG287r9DfL?

Sigh. its not working again. back to the drawing board....

the computer I usually use is getting a new battery and I was using a different one and it doesn't have all the stuff on it. So, I was improvising and did a bad job...

Never mind. It seems to be working. I put DOS 2.0s on it and it works fine. Must've been bad .ATR and .ATX files? I'll try some more. Sorry for the false alarm. Thanks to all who tried to help. -Todd

I had to flip it, so you know... I kept the board oriented with the cable and the usb/power ports on the same side, and that means everything else is backward, but then I did angled shots to help orient everything. Thanks! -Todd

I used some wire I had. It had all the same colors that Mr Robot used in his documentation except purple. I had white and black unused, so I used white for what he used as purple. Then I cut the red wire and powered via USB. Here are the pictures. They are pretty big, so you should be able to zoom in. Let me know if you want me to take a picture of anything else. Thanks!

Tinkercad is pretty awesome. I have logged a lot of hours there in the past 18 months or so. I was actually playing around with the 1050-ish model that everyone is using to try to make it look more like a drive. Starting with a drive model and then scaling and adapting os a pretty good approach. One thing to consider is how you will break it up for printing. You need some sort of seam to allow it to print with less support and allow you to get it into the enclosure. (Usually top and then bottom as separate pieces.) It would also be cool if the front part could be separated out so it could be printed in dark brown instead of white. Then, I could use my silver p-touch tape to print the silver strip on a 1050 to make it look even more like a drive. Let me know what progress you make, or if I can help at all... -Todd

Okay. I finally made this thing. I clipped the red wire and am using an external power supply. I am doing the simple install with only one device. When I try to boot, it beeps once and then the blue "Ready" area says SIO:CMD Timeout. I used an ohm meter the check continuity from the pin port on the Uno (stick a jumper wire in the hole that has a bare stripped end and the other side of the Ohm meter gently goes into the SIO connector). All five pins had very low impedance (before I snipped the red wire...). I hooked a drive up and booted myDos and then unhooked the drive and hooked up the drive. When I try to run disk directory on drive one it just says there are zero sectors. Tried several different disk images. Any ideas? Thank you.

Would you ever consider making the .stl file available for people who want to print their own? Thank you.
-
YES! Now Windows and Mac both work the same way! (I've tested your instructions on both and the experience and results are the same. They both seem to work fine.) THANK YOU! Thank you.

I’ll pop over to my Mac and try it there.

Hi. I am following the document. It is awesome so far. However, I am using an Uno that I think I played with this before. When I run XLoader on Windows and select either 'hex file, it just says uploading... and never seems to finish. While doing that, the XDrive screen (v. 0.7)is showing. Do I need to do something special if there is already an XDrive image loaded. Thank you.

This is great news! Too bad my MacBook Pro is off getting its explodey battery replaced! (I run Win10 in fusion to run Altirra..) There was a time when I would contemplate how many levels of emulation I could get. (Windows computer emulating Atari ST emulating Apple Mac, etc.) never really tried it much, but it is an interesting thought exercise.

Also, if it is a dodgy copy made by a vendor that used similar protections on other found titles, we (and when I say “we”, I mean people who are better at this than me) might be able to fix it
