I've been thinking along these same ines. I was thining of seeing if I could build it into a wide flat case, similar to those under monitor switch boxes we all used to have. It could even have push buttons on the front to turn each thing on and off. Then, it could sit under your monitor and have one power cord going in and have outlets for 110 (or 220 depending on where you live) and then separately-keyed outputs for AC vs DC. Create a few diferent cords with color-coding and clear marking, (Red plug with AC on the side, white plug with DC on the side, maybe?) So, front has multile light-up push buttons. One for master, and one each for the 110/220 outlets and AC and DC outlets on the back. The back just has cord in (maybe a master power switch and circuit-breaker) and then all the outlets. I'm sure it wouldn't cost more than $100 to biuld one.

Are there heat concerns or other considerations if I was going to put 4 or 5 of these in one box?

David, Sorry to hear about the issues. Hope everything dries out SOON! -Todd

Hi. I'm in on the 8-bit tier. I'm probbly one of those that has pulled down a lot at once, but not very often. Sorry. If I might ask, how big is the total archive? Have you considered letting others mirror it for you? Thank you.

Atari 800 - Space Invaders - Sound Effects?
toddtmw replied to RobMeade's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I just playd it in Altirra and ther are like 4 sounds. the background killing an alien, having your ship destroyed and the sound of the UFO at the top. Seems like you should be able to synch things up so that the background sound aligns with the sound effect for the other sounds? -
Atari 800 - Space Invaders - Sound Effects?
toddtmw replied to RobMeade's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Hi. And welcome! Are you looking to do this on modern hardware, where a sampled sound could be used? Or are you trying to recreate it on an Atari? Also, are you trying to do Arcade sounds or 8-bit sounds? (Or something else?) Again, welcome, take a look around and kick back. I think you'll find that we (mostly) don't bite. Perhaps you would be willing to submit a post about yourself? -Todd -

Sys-Check V2.2 ready-to-use batch available

THANK YOU! The XL BOSS 2 looks like a winner. Is there any documentation on what XLFIX is? Thanks again! -
Someone needs to change the topic. But I still stand by my previous comment. This thread needs to be locked. Move on people. Nothing to see here. Remain calm. All is well!

Not trying to start a runmble, but BITD, it was the Wico sticks. However, I bought a NoS one a year or so ago and the stick was so stiff because the rubber bushing had hardened, then it "broke" or whatever and became so loose it was pointless. So, TODAY, 2019, what is the best joystick. I'd say there are two catgories: 1. Sticks from BITD that have held up and can still work well today 2. (Relatively) Modern controllers that work well. And ... GO!

This thread REALLY needs to be killed. The AtariBox is VAPORWARE! If it ever DOES ship, it will SUCK! Stop talking about it. It's pointless. Go play pitfall! It would be much more productive!

Also, Arduino is pretty easy to program. You should download the IDE and check it out. I've done some cool things with them. My house had an alarm system, but it wasn't working. I pulled out the panel and used the sensor wires with an Arduino to to all of the door sensors into my Smartthings and then hubitat smart home platform. I also used a relay shield to ping googles nameservers every 10 seconds and if it couldn't get to it ten times in a row, it dropped the relay (which had my cable modem and wifi accesspoint plugged into it), waited 60 seconds and then brought the relay back up. Neither of those needed a screen, but this is a pretty powerful little microcontroller. it has 2 K of SRAM and 32 K of flash RAM. (That's Kilobytes, not Megabytes!) It has a 16 MHz clock rate, but, it's really not THAT much more powerful than our beloved 8-bit Ataris!

Not really Atari-related, but there are a lot of cool Arduino Touchscreen projects. Some examples: https://create.arduino.cc/projecthub/projects/tags/touchscreen

So, do those programs also not work with the translator? -
Sys-Check V2.2 ready-to-use batch available

Okay. I just figured someone may have already posted one somewhere. How can program tell if it's not a stock OS? Thanks. -
Le Stick. Worst Stick ever. I used it once and was like, hard pass.

Hi. I have been reading the manuals and have a question about the orginal 400/800 OS. The flash utility says the ROM file has to be exactly 16K, but the 400/800 ROMs are only 10K. Has someone created a 16K 400/800 ROM that would be compatible with the Syscheck flash rom? Thank you. -
866 Plus?866 II Plus? Whats the difference? Thanks.

So. What's everyone using to burn eproms for atari stuff?

Did anyone have the joystick that looked like a BMX bicycle grip? There was no base and a red button on top. There were mercury switches that detected how the stick was angled and you could squeeze it to center it if you didnt want to move.

can you put any title in the ports above and play them? Does it work? Can you show what the menu looks like?
-
Sell them? I'd buy one if the price is decent.

Not that this isn't an interesting topic, (it is), i was just wondering if there was another reason why David is interested in this? -
Atari Printer Output And Epson Printers...

On my Panasonic KX-P1091i, holding both buttons puts it in hex mode. Worked as expected I guess, but I do not know what all the 0D's are. Is that the semicolon?
