Someone was asking about benchmarks.

Yeah, but that's what EMULATION is for!

Anyone ever thought about whether this would even be possible? The 2600 seems pretty low end from a resource standpoint. What does the 2600 have that A8 doesn't have?

My first drive was a Rana 1000. It was cheaper than an 810, way smaller and did double density. It felt a little weak when using it. Sometimes it felt like it was just tired. Spinning up felt like it was slow to get going.
I got an Indus GT and it was much better.
Now I have four 1050's. One with Happy.
I have to say, I like the 1050 with Happy the best.

I've been looking for ways to store my disks. The "classic" disk boxes are a little pricey on eBay and the condition varies greatly. I found a 4x6 index card box on Amazon that does a great job storing disks.
Here is the link:

I also have been looking for a way to store my most used disks in an easy-to retrieve way. When I had my original Atari, I had a plastick stair-step thing that did a pretty good job. I played around with ways to make one myself, but nothing seemed to work. Someone suggested 3-D printing. I decided to do old-school 3-D printing:
LEGO!
Here it is with disks in it:

It's ridiculous how well this thing (SIO2PC) works. It's really fun.
The happy copy mod is nice too. Wish I had had one back in the '80's. (Just for the speed enhancement). It's significant!

Both packages arrived today. Sio2PC works great. Haven't installed the happy board yet.

I'm bummed. There was a lot of like 4 or 5 of those last week and I didn't buy them. (Heck, this might be one of them...)

Yeah. I'm thinking the same thing.

Yeah no had those back in the day too. Great when going to someone else's house.

I thought about that, but I made a drew it out on paper and just one side is 18.5 inches by 6 inches. (It would only need to be about a quarter inch thick assuming I printed the two sides separately and then connected them with some sort of cross beam.)
Can 3-D printers do something that large?

FDCs?
Is there any software that can test how well each one works?

Hoping to get my Sio2pc on Tuesday...

This thread makes it look like it can be done. Maybe you can get it under the cover?

This seems to be a scattergun trouble-shooting guide, but it might be helpful:

Back in the day, I had a disk holder. It was very simple. Two pieces of plastic cut so that there were notches like stair steps. There were 2 or 3 cross bars that held them together. You could set it on your desk and display 10 floppies so that they were tiered and you could easily grab each one. I put my most used disks here.
I cannot even find a picture of anything like this on google image search, much less one for sale.
Does anyone know what these were called that I could search for them by?
Thanks.

Bump.
Is this posible? Can I print from printshop to something that I could then print on a modern printer connected to my Windows computer?
Thanks.

Just bought my third Atari computer in as many weeks. This one is a 130XE upgraded to 320.

DOH! Forgot.

Actually, the first one just hit Cincinnati. So I think that one will come Monday. The other one hasn't gone anywhere yet.

What is there to think about? It's cheap.

OK so the external stuff like Power supply, SD card, case of choice, controller, or whatever the heck else you want will add to it, not to mention the banging your head against the wall when hit some random wall when configuring it add to the cost
It's still well worth it for any gamer. It wont replace the real deal but is still greatCheap? Ha. That's what I thought,

Let's add this up:
~$40 for the Pi and the case
~$35 for the 128 GB micro SD card
$189 for the 50" flat panel TV (Wal Mart, I don't know why it was so cheap, but it works and I didn't ask.)
$80 for the rollling TV stand for the TV
$199 for the X-Arcade Tank Stick
$100 for controllers and adapters I tried before I broke down and bought the tank stick
$50 for the keyboard stand I put the tank stick on
$20 for the giant clamp I bought to keep the tank stick from moving on the keyboard stand.
$20 for a PS2 keyboard to program the tankstick
$30 for a wireless tiny keyboard and mouse
But, look at it!!! IT WAS SO WORTH IT!!!!
