  1. Howdy folks

Seems like Atariarea and everything else on www.krap.pl are gone. I don't speak Polish, but I frequently check the page where the Video Board XE was announced. Unfortunately, the site seems to be down since a couple of days. Could anybody please tell me/us what's happened?

    Greetings

    Mathy

    From atari8.info:

The AtariArea portal, Atariki and all the services available at the krap.pl domain have been suspended, the server is down for maintenance. The downtime is expected to be about a week.

  2. If you use Protector:SE, then you MUST have the -8 and -n options in the command line.

On a modded Jag, if you press A or C before running the uploader on your PC, you must use -n too (and also -8 if you chose 8-bit mode on the Jag by pressing A). If you did NOT press either A or C, then you must NOT use -n.

Other combinations will not work, and you'll get the symptoms you've described.

There are several other things that can cause uploads problems, but if you managed to make it work on your friend's Jag, they can probably be ruled out.

It sounds logically. I must try it with -n option. Thank you for your help!

  3. BJL loader works best on a DOS based OS platform. 95 or 98.

You need the program/server/uploader also on the PC side. Unzipped into a folder on your HD somewhere called BJL or whatnot.

A setpath to the BJL loader.exe in your startup files on your PC. And a file to upload to the BJL program. The BJL loader works from the DOS command line. Once you are in the directory of the BJL program to upload to the Jaguar with all the connections hooked up you would type in for instance jagmarble say:

    bjl_load -n -8 jagmarble.bin

from the command line. This would tell the BJL exe program to upload jagmarble from your PC to the awaiting BJL program on the Jaguar.

The problem is I did everything exactly this way but with no success. That's the reason why I'm asking what could be wrong...

  4. Hi!

Can somebody tell me how to use BJL loader? I'm really confused. I used Protector SE cart on my unmodified Jag but I wasn't able to load anything. I booted BJL loader from cart and then I started bjl_load.exe on my PC just to see running some "counter" on Jag. The same thing happened to me with friend's modified Jag. I wasn't able to load anything when I selected 4-bit or 8-bit mode using joypad. It only worked when I didn't select anything, just started bjl_load.exe on PC. In that case Jag suddenly started with transmission and I finally saw requested colour effect. Where could be a problem?

    Thank you for your help!

  5. Couple HSC notes -

    1. This contest ends a bit early since I will be out of town

    2. HSC4 (has it been over 3 years!!!!) will start promptly after the new year.

    3. Fandal has built a sizable lead going into this final contest - the award for this year will again be the ability to choose the top5 games to vote on. This contest will determine who comes in 3rd :)

Thanks again for everyones participation. Ive relived a few oldies I havent played and been introduced to some cool new games - hopefully everyone has had as much fun as I :)

    Happy Holidays every one!

First, I must thank to Goochman for organizing HSC!!!

I really enjoy playing A8 titles and HSC is a very good way to be introduced to some games I haven't played never before.

And my top five for the first week of new season:

    Head On (2006)

    Laser Blaster (2005)

    Monex (2005)

    Nibbly (2006)

    Sudoku Sweep (2006)

I think it will be fun to test some fresh games... :)

P.S. Irataman, you're the best A8 player I have ever met. Next season will be yours! :)

  6. Maybe I've been going about this the wrong way.

Is there a way to load a bin or rom file on the real hardware, saying using MyDos?

Let's say I want to run the PB version of Montezuma's Revenge in .bin or .rom format from a MyIDE card. Assume I load up into MyDOS 2.0, and when I do a directory of the 16mb hard drive partition on my card, I see MntRvgPB.rom as one of the files. Can I load this file and execute it? Or no dice?

Also, has the format of the forums changed? It seems like now I see a funky tree of the thread when I read a post, instead of just seeing them in order.

I don't think there's anything better for handling cart images than S/XEGS RAMcart by C.P.U.!!
