  1. Attached is our updated list of Atari 8-bit games that have not been dumped yet, some 1,300 programs! Though by no means complete as it mostly concentrates on commercial software, it should persuade you that there are still many lost titles on old tapes and disks in need to be archived.

We'd like to convince you that the preservation of old software for our platform is an essential task and shouldn't be overlooked. Please check your tapes / disks and see if you can submit any of these titles before it is too late and the software becomes lost forever. Note that the programs don't have to be from originals, it's obviously better to have a copy in cracked form than nothing at all.

Although we have received some fantastic contributions lately, the feedback we get in this area is, generally, pathetic, especially compared to similar sites such as GB64 or World of Spectrum. While our site certainly isn't perfect yet, we hope you'll jump on the bandwagon and help us with our ambitious project so we can rescue these rare titles for the community.

Additional note to Chilean and Canadian readers: we are looking for official release lists of software from these countries so please get in touch if you have some information! If somebody has issues of the Canadian magazine ROM, please let us know as well!

    Thanks in advance!

I'm affraid you shouldn't expect anything from A8 "communnity". It's dead.

    Used tools: Atari800Win PLus 4.0, MADS 1.6.4, RSD 1.5, UltraEdit-32 11.10a+1.

    P.S. Don't tell me I'm crazy. I know that!

    Fandal,

well done!!! Patching a game requires a lot of experience .. my respects!!

    btw, what is RSD 1.5?

    \twh

RSD 1.5 is Raster's dissasembler from his great (and secret) PowerToolsPack. It's a pack of Win32 .NET based tools (RSD dissabler, RSA assembler based on MADS, music composer based on RMT and graphics editor similar to G2F but much better - everything with web interface) as well as native A8 applications (for example very fast packer/depacker based on RAR or RS-DOS based on Sparta DOS X). Unfortunately it's available only to C.P.U. group members (and me). BTW, all games/demos which have been released lately (Cubico, Cervi2, Basix or Self Test Demo) were written using PTP...

  3. Hi all!

Well, it took more than one week of hard work, but I've done it!! File version of great game Deflektor is now available for all those Atarians who want to play it on real HW. It's 100% conversion and moreover I fixed two minor bugs from original cart dump.

The only limitation is that you need at least 64kB of additional memory (130XE or better) to run it as original brutal bank switching is still there.

And how did I do that? It was really simple: I disassembled the whole cart dump (64kB), analysed the source code (300+ kB file, 9000+ lines), made more than 1000 changes and compiled it again...

    Used tools: Atari800Win PLus 4.0, MADS 1.6.4, RSD 1.5, UltraEdit-32 11.10a+1.

    Enjoy!

Send me your version and I'll fix it.

Here it is. Thanks a lot if you can do this.

Also, can you make the score display in the millions?

    Here's fixed file.

BTW, your version is nothing more than cracked disk which can be found on Atarimania.

Score in millions can be done. Everything is possible. But it would take a much more time and effort than this simple fix...

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately there's so much wrong with this version it no longer contains much of the original game. Did you hack this yourself? Perhaps the original was screwed up to begin with? My working version is 6,497 bytes long whereas yours is 5,766 bytes.

    Incidentally, I'm using Atari800Win Plus 3.0.

Send me your version and I'll fix it.

  6. I understand that the B&C version of Aircars, which is a pirate cart, is essentially similar to the original commercial release. I've also heard that there are a number of different cart versions of this title floating around, some of which boast minor cosmetic differences, but that gameplay is uniformly awful on all of them.

The original Aircars (complete with plain white box) used to sell in the range of $150-$175 before B&C started to produce their pirate carts. I'd imagine that the market for an original has now diminished, but you're still probably looking at over $80 for one. I recently lost out on an eBay auction for a flashcart that probably contained Aircars on it -- the winning bid edged out mine at around $55 -- so I suppose that it would be possible to get a non-B&C cart for less.

    Pirate cart?

    From this:

Jaguar B&C Aircars cart only $40 or $45 with original ICD manual. Years ago we purchased the rights to several of ICD products. Over the years we have also bought and traded each others products for resale. In 1997 we traded several Jaguar developer items for several ICD products including Aircars. Since ICD never delivered their products due to internal problems(????) we are now producing our own B&C version. Our B&C Aircars is sold with or without the original ICD Aircars manual. The label says B&C. Other than that they are identical to those shipped by ICD when they were shipping them back in 1996...

  7. Hi!

Very nice game, really!! I walked thru all 25 levels but I don't have a final code as it isn't diplayed anywhere after congratulation screen...

And it seems to me there must be some bug as in level 20 (or so) music suddenly went off and next level sounds were gone as well...

  9. Hi all!

I need your help Atarians!! I'm looking for owners of stereo upgrade to test Raster's stereo detection routine on real HW. We know there's a lot of various stereo upgrades out there and we need to know if we're able to detect them all (or at least most of them). In the attachment you can find Raster's detection program. Please run it and let us know if your stereo upgrade was successfully found or not.

Thank you very much for your help!
