  1. Listing's gone now. I had already paid so we'll see if I can receive this or not. Maybe it's Atari or AT that had the listing taken down, you never know. But really, the listing clearly said 86 sold, yet the seller had 0 feedback as seller in the past year. MEH.
  2. I'm just done with D. My Road Rash game is currently at level 4 and I'm growing impatient with it We on super bikes now, speed makes the handling more difficult and crashing means losing up to 10 ranks so I'm resetting a lot. I'll be sure to post something if/when I do get to the end.

  4. Grabbed it. It's on you. Yeah that was my reasoning. If I end up receiving just a new paddle controller or somn I'll file a claim. I re-re-re-read the listing numerous times and everything indicates that this is a proper Flashback 8 Gold console and not some box, or parts, or accessory, or fridge magnet. Plug and plays aren't necessarily my thing, but with the NES/SNES Classics and now the C64 which I pre-ordered, I figured I might as well hunt a couple others down. Hey -- it's Atari on an LCD tv without hassle. No Sega Genesis Classic tho.
  5. And we're back folks! Today's review review is D! D is a cult hit that started off as a 3DO title, and it managed to do what few other games did : be a succesul port to the other next-gen console of the era. It spawned two sequels : Enemy Zero and D 2 on the Sega Saturn and Dreamcast respectively. The sequels don't follow the story of the original, hell D 2 isn't really the same type of game, but they all feature the original's protagonist, the "digital actor" Laura. Fun bit of trivia : Sony short changed Warp by manufacturing way less copies of the Playstation version than originally intended, which led to a shortage and fan backlash. This prompted Warp to only release their future games on Sega platforms. Here's the review : Graphics : 10 + The 100% rendered scenes look incredibly slick and real. + Laura's animation is some of the best I've seen. Music & Sound FX : 10 + Creepy, very effective musical score. + The sound is pretty bizarre and effective too. Innovation : 8 + We need more scary games like this. - Myst-inspired graphic adventure. Been there, done that. Gameplay : 8 + Draws you in and won't let go. - Slow, slow, sloooooow. Replay Value : 7 +Three endings, and lots of side bits you might miss the first time. - Not too challenging. Over way too fast How accurate is this review? It's spot on! For once, Game Players isn't blindly praising a game based on a demo build and some press releases. In fact, every other big-name mag of the time score D higher than GP did. The body of the review says everything there is about to say about the game: it's technologically impressive, it's creepy, it's engaging, it's slow and it's sort of easy.There. My experience with D certainly reflects that of Jeff Lundrigan. On the graphics side, of course the graphics and character animations have not aged well. At all. But the environment, the objects and the settings in general look good. The creepiness is still quite present even today which speaks volumes about how well this is designed. After all, D predates Resident Evil so no one had that brilliant piece of work to use as a Template. If I had to nitpick at one other aspect of the score, I'd say the Replay Value needs to be bumped to an 8 or 9. Really. First of all, the "negative" point there fails to prove the game lacks replay value. Quite the opposite! The fact that a game is short is never a deterrent to replaying it, rather it makes it inviting to go back in, knowing you aren't committing for dozens of hours again. The game has multiple endings for you to see and has a couple missable scenes, which should definitely prompt you to dive in again to see everything, especially since you then know your way around the castle and won't be wasting time. The ending screen litterally tells the player there are still scenes to be seen and asks that you play again. À Also, I can see this game in the speedrun scene : you can skip getting clues, optimize your route and skip on cutscenes to reduce your overall time. All of this means the game really does offer replay value. That 7 is way too low. Go D! Bonus : EGM Preview. Difficulty "Hard"? please lol.
  6. Hey guys, stumbled across this listing on eBay and I want to check in with the right people before I buy : do you think this is legit? https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Atari-Flashback-8-Gold-Deluxe-HD-Console-AR3620X-SLRFB/283072745430?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D6088f87477ad4c81aebb7dd4499a2478%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dag%26sd%3D283072745430%26itm%3D283072745430&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A2d449938-94d7-11e8-af55-74dbd1802967%7Cparentrq%3Af0f9b2041640ad4a421709a7ffeddbf8%7Ciid%3A1
  7. Ok, by popular demand (one guy, really) I'll work on more reviews. I'm currently trying to play through D (I should have 2 hours to myself eventually) and I'll review it after I complete it. Already have the scanned magazine review to complement things. Stay posted.
  8. I'm glad you mentioned it, because Nintendo did go against archive.org to have them take Nintendo Power issues out from their site.
  9. I only ever found out about loveroms when I went looking for a couple specific ROMs to dump onto my NES and SNES Classics, mostly because other "mainstream" rom sites had the sense to not host 1st party Nintendo software on there. And yeah, misleading clicks and lots of forced ads and pop-ups there. I don't know that the people behind loverom have the kind of money Nintendo is asking for...what a freakshow. Nintendo just might be trying to make an example out of loveroms.
  10. What other sorts of 3DO stuff do you guys have?
  11. Austin, it saddens me that you don't like canadians Would you consider tho? I'm pretty big on 3DO longboxes and am always on the prowl.
  12. Try contacting 3DOKid, he has a Facebook group and YouTube channel. If not, try "bitrate" if you can find him.
  13. Bump. Still looking for this Lynx II promo catalog : http://atariage.com/catalog_overview.php?CatalogID=71
  14. If anyone has a reasonably priced copy for sale of this let me know! I've been looking for one. This game's grapics blew my mind when I first played it.Too bad I could barely make it out of the first halllway before I died. I would really like to give this game a second chance, now that I'm a grown ass man with years of video gaming experience...I'd probably do better at Space Hulk. I think I prefer the slightly less detailed wall and ceiling textures of the 3DO version (maybe it's just blurrier), but it looks like the FPS is better on PSX and the game is definitely easier. This could be a plus. Again, I wouldn't go out of my way to get the Playstation game, at least not until I start collecting PSX games, if ever. https://youtu.be/7anEaU68zxw
  15. Here's a game most of us agree on : Total Eclipse. I like playing this even to this day. The game wasn't received super well on PSX, but that's mostly because the system's library is absolutely stellar so old 3DO ports don't exactly shine bright there. At the end of the day, the PSX version is superior to the 3DO's, but I'm not going to go out of my way to buy it and play it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxRtAHuvd3A&t=0s&index=4&list=PLOS9njCPSHFJqKsvZV7iJeu8xjOG-0735
  16. I can see Starfighter being a good flying stick game, the ship handles more like in a sim. I never really liked playing with flight sticks, I'll get the arcade stick controller and that'll be enough for me.
  17. This one is for me! I have a real sweetspot for this game, and the ports were poorly handled, making the 3DO come out on top! Check out Starfighter kickin'g butt on 3DO. DEATH BY STEREO! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjwSzIreOLo&t=0s&list=PLOS9njCPSHFJqKsvZV7iJeu8xjOG-0735&index=1
  18. Wow I never even noticed that border in Wolfenstein, that's how engrossed I am when playing it! Doom has much bigger issues that a low resolution/border. As for being the favorite version, it's subjective. It's MY favorite version, but it's not like I have all the machines setup to compare the ports constantly just to relish in the fact that x or y version is superior.
  19. No comment. Everyone knows what happened here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k--jRcVnYRA
  20. It's a QTE game of sorts, where pressing the right button(s) at the right time(s) will determine your success.
  21. Had a SNES and 3DO. Was saving my money for an Ultra 64. I kept renting out Saturn and PSX from blockbuster tho, mostly to play VF2 and Tekken respectively
  22. I'd rather make my first playthrough on the glorious Lynx! https://youtu.be/CiMGnUwWqRw?t=25s
