  1. Here's one for the ages : Road & Track Need For Speed! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuG-5sdYTMs I never really cared much for either version, truth be told. Comparing them makes me feel like the PSX version is more of a rebuild than a port. It's like the PSX version was the game they intended to make all along, but couldn't be pulled off on the 3DO. Or they used the 3DO version as a beta of sorts when they made it (and improved it) for the PSX. Everyone seems to like NFS on 3DO so I'll leave it at that. Not my jam.
  2. I'm glad you guys caught on. That game is damn hard and not worth anyone's time, really. Wouldn't Chip's Challenge be a solid contender however? It has truckloads of levels to go through.
  3. Because it's such a quality platformer? My beef here is that Toki is widely available on other consoles
  4. I'm curious to see what everyone's thoughts are on this. If you were to have a Lynx and just one game, which game would it be? And why? Would you have, say, Batman Returns because the over the top difficulty would ensure the longest play time?
  5. If my memory is right, a commenter under your YouTube video claims to have finished it, no sweat. Talk about crazy devotion.
  6. I ran out of cool reviews D: Maybe I'll get around to snuffing them out from the internet's a**hole eventually. I just don't like EGM reviews and GamePlayers scans are hard to come by.
  7. In this topic, I'll show off internet celebrity (and possible member here?) 3DOkid's comparison videos. He shows 3DO games and their PSX equivalent side-by-side to see how the 3DO fared. Let's kick things off with Starblade, since UHATEIT likes the game so much https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9giA3cjPDUo Thoughts?
  8. Video game collecting has shot up in price in general, so the 3DO had to follow. It's on par with SegaCD in terms of "most popular obscure" console. What I don't understand, however, is how hard a sell 3DO games actually are. People trying to sell a lot often ending up taking it to their graves or splitting it up to get some money. I know a guy who has a crazy good lot going for $1800CAD and it hasn't moved in months. People just want Road Rash, Return Fire and Street Fighter.
  9. I'll avoid the obvious Street Fighter, Samurai Showdown and Road Rash deal. Here's a lesser mentionned top5: Wolfenstein 3D Phoenix 3 Battle Sport Crash n Burn Immercenary
  10. Oh well. Let me sell you on it! Think of it as a first-person offline MMO. In fact, that's the setting : a virtual game world from the future. Its inhabitant are stuck in there and somehow contacted 1994 for help. A ragtag team of scientists send a dude there to help. (aka kill everything in sight) The game is hella confusing at first, especially if you don't know any of the mecanics for getting around safely, but once you gain some stats it gets more bearable to explore the map. Dying isn't much of a setback: it'll cost you stats and items (random), but the scientists bring you back and expain a couple elements you might have missed out on and then they send you back in. It's cool, I swear. The acting isn't exactly good, but it's not too cringy (MegaRace, anyone?). It's generic, if anything. One other thing : there's no strafing. Or strafing is broken, w/e but it's not really needed. You should try it! A full playthrough took me about 5 hours last year, and I had forgotten a bunch of things so it's not like I had a crazy edge over a new player.
  11. I LOVE nitpicking! Captain Quazar has a PC version Return Fire has PSX and PC versions (not sure about the Maps o' Death expansion tho) I think the actual exclusives are all already listed. My favorite has to be Immercenary, quickly followed by Phoenix3. I have yet to play Slayer and Deathkeep...but I just bought Slayer from a member here so we'll see when it gets here.
  12. I'll post more next week, promised! I'm playing A Link Between World on 3DS so my focus is going there, but I've been itching for some Road Rash...I'll see if I can't find a few reviews of that, if not I'll go with some of the scans I have already.
  13. Update: Wishlist updated. LOOKING FOR : 3DO Star Controll II Star Map. (just the map)
  14. Try D, I guess. I don't know much about the game, but I know you enjoy horror and grainy CG video, so yeah, that one fits the description. And hey -- if you like RPGs, I can def. vouch for Guardian Wars --if you can tolerate the visuals--. It's a tactics RPG, so you just move from battle to battle and you can save almost anytime.
  15. Hi. I'm here because of interest in Lynx games. Any boxed?
  16. 2 kids here, as seen in my picture. The way our appartment is set up, I can tell you that the headphone jack in the remote is a godsend. It's the main reason my 3DO gets so much action compared to my other consoles. The 3DS get plenty of game time, also for the same reason. Let's mention some games then : Primal Rage. (which by the way is the actual 3rd best fighting game on the system, now that I think about it) I've been playing a lot of Star Fighter recently. Beating the game should take days/weeks, but it's definitely worth it to sit down and play for an hour...get 2-3 missions in. It's arcadey and simey at the same time. I pulled the Total Eclipse cd out for future use, too. That's a quick arcade shooter. Immercenary feels bigger and longer that's what she said than it actually is. I beat the game with a total playtime of 5~6 hours, half-knowing what I was doing. It's a first person, single player, offline-mmo type experience. It can be confusing at first, like you'll die every 2 minutes, but I found it was a very rewarding experience and it definitely has that 90s sci-fi B movie feel and it's not too heavy on 'tude.
  17. Oh man Way of the Warrior is a semi-decent MK clone not only in terms of violence and technology, but also in terms of pacing and rythm in the fights. Plus the cheating AI I have to give you points for Fighters Megamix, but it's mostly built around Fighting Vipers, with the armors on the fighters and the walls around most stages. Virtua Fighter 2 might just be my favorite fighting game of all times, I don't know, but it's for sure in my top 3. I really have to consider getting a Saturn just to play VF, VF Remix and VF2. It all started when the SF and MK machines at my local arcade were always super busy and no one was giving VF any love. I tried it and I couldn't get over how good it was. I might've segued more into Tekken close to that point in time (Tekken 3 will be forever dear to my heart), but Virtua Fighter 2 had me hooked for months on end. I'd skip school just to go to the arcade with like, 5 or 6 quarters and kick polygon butts.
  18. A quick session is all you'll give these BallZ. You can play with BallZ for a short or long period, it's up to you. It's your BallZ. Delicious jokes aside, a couple rounds should convince most gamers to switch to a better game.
  19. Today, on 3DO reviews : definitive proof that money can buy good reviews BallZ If you like this game, then you might be able to keep a straight face and say that it is the 3rd best fighter on the 3DO, because SSF2 Turbo and Samurai Shodown are top 2 no matter how you look at it. I'd say Way of the Warrior is #3, personnally. This is a short, half-page review from Game Players, so the detailed score has no text to explain the points the game is getting. The review for BallZ Director's Cut: 82% Someone must've drank too much. At least the written review makes sense. Jeff Lundrigan (again?) pretty much highlights Ballz's true weakness : Confusing gameplay. This is all because everything looks the same: assembled balls. The characters are all supposed to represent something, I know that much; like one is a humanoid of sorts, one's a caveman, one's a zombie, I think one's a mammoth, but it's impossible to make that out just by glancing at them. The fact that the balls move away from each other then the figthers' limbs stretch out doesn't help either. All the great fighting games out there showcase strong, immediately recognizable characters so if you are represented by a weird ping-pong ball statue you can't relate to, why would you even care to fight as him/her/it? I don't. On top of that, it's almost impossible to tell what's what when you get the two characters next to each other in close combat. Hit detection doesn't really suffer from it, but it _looks_ like it does and that's enough to distract me when playing. I'll conced that the game's mechanics are good enough and the controls are responsive. This is one of those instances where the presentation and stylistic choices actually hurt the gameplay. Fighting games need to give the players the visual cues they need in order for them to react accordingly and BallZ does not deliver here. The review mentions that the moves are hard to pull off (I haven't noticed, but I'm no master of the BallZ) and that the gameplay is confusing overall, yet it scores an 8 in that category. I just lost all the naiveness I had left. Anyone else play this? It goes for like, $35 CAD CIB or even sealed. No one cares about BallZ.
  20. Good question. I believe Stone Age Gamer used to have those, but they're long gone. A quick Google search led me here : http://3do-renovation.ru/USB_Host_for_FZ10.htm It's DIY. Other than that, I see pre-modded 3DO consoles come up on eBay once in a while. Overpriced.
