  1. I know that, but it's been 2-3 days since I suggested the game and you said you'd play it.
  2. Told you it was good! It's short, but that's all right.
  3. I'm the biggest 3DO enthusiast I know. I still voted Saturn. 3DO VS CD-i I say 3DO 3DO VS Jaguar /Jaguar CD I say 3DO 3DO VS NeoGeo CD I say 3DO 3DO VS 32X/SegaCD I say 3DO 3DO VS Amiga32 I say 3DO I'm all about that 3DO, but it doesn't compare to the proper 32bit generation at all.
  4. I don't know wether this justifies getting the 3DO version other than for collection purposes, but I seem to recall there being an extra world and more visual items on screen. Also the 3DO version has a save feature while the PS1/Saturn versions have passwords. There is talk of a "secret" ending in the 3DO version, Ive never completed GEX so I don't know much about it, and I don't know if that made its way to the ports. I want to like GEX, but in this day and age I can't stand a platformer where the character is always slightly behind the middle and the camera has to "snap" when you change direction.
  5. The Wii made Nintendo great again. I didn't like the use of motion control where it didn't belong (Donkey Kong Country Returns is a great example..so much better on 3DS) but overall I really like the Wii. I'm still collecting for it with roughly 90 games on my shelves as of writing. The Wiimote is a perfect replacement for a mouse pointer, so it made the system great for FPS, Rail Shooters and even slower-paced strategy games. Those who got into the Virtual Console were treated to rock solid ports of SNK Classics and other such games you couldn't buy anywhere else. And it has hidden gems popping up every other week even this late in the 2010s. There are 1000 metric tons of shovelware available for it, yes, but that doesn't mean one should buy these titles. Overall, it was a great idea and a great console with a huge library, what else did you want?
  6. True dat. But really, because the 3DO company's business model relied on licensing money from hardware, the software licenses were cheaper and this helped launch many studios that are still around today, such as Crystal Dynamics and Naughty Dog (!!!!). Even Studio 3DO themselves were pretty experimental in their game design. They took risks and made some pretty decent games, like Blade Force. I like that the system remains integral to the current gaming landscape even if it was considered a failure.
  7. Phoenix 3 is underrated. It's a mix of action platformer and space shooter. The platforming features a digitized actor and CGI aliens, it's overly animated so it _sorta_ gives off a Flashback/Blackthorne feel (but not really). I enjoy the mix of playing styles tho. Even if the 2 modes are average, the overall experience is improved in a weird quantity-over-quality sort of way. I was never a Quarantine guy, but it gets good comments all the time so I might give it a chance. I only played it in the 90s and couldn't do much. Immercenary is good. It's a 1st person offline MMORPG type thing in which you help the citizens of the future who are all trapped Inside a virtual game, by becoming the best at it. So you go around exploring, finding weapons, grinding levels and beating bosses when prompted. Some mechanics are admittedly broken, such as strafing consists of microscopic jerks to either side, but it never breaks the game.
  8. I just read the topic about the horrible DOOM port and it reminded me of this juicy story : the development of GEX It's a classic gaming industry tale of poor/greedy/near-sighted management VS well-intent devs and designers. Crystal Dynamics today is a huge name in the business, owning such franchises as Tomb Raider and being owned by none other than Square Enix, but they started out modest with some quality titles on the 3DO. Crash n Burn was their firt commercial release, and it's one of my favorite 3DO games and it just might be in my personal top 25. Then they made GEX, but they almost didn't.
  9. The FZ-1 is the sexier beast, but the FZ-10 is probably the better purchase. It has memory management and less moving parts. It's also the "easiest" to mod, based on my reading. They go for roughly $150 CAD in my area with wires and a controller, sometimes with a loose filler or two. I got mine for $100 and I knew I had a deal.
  10. I had never really heard about it until my family got one in 1993. Our house was robbed clean while on vacation, including my SNES and games. The insurance company offered to replace for whatever console was available, so my dad actually suggested we get an "upgrade" to the SNES by getting a more recent machine. I already knew I didn't want a SegaCD, so we got a 3DO with Crash n Burn and Dragon's Lair. It wasn't long before I bought a SNES again HA! But I kept the 3DO and I always thought it was sorta cool, even if it was difficult finding good games for it at the time.
  11. This is definitely the first time ever anyone has recommended Mazer hahahahaha. I'll pick it up if I see it at a decent price, thanks.
  12. I'm glad so many people are showing this one some love. It released on the Saturn, too. It goes by unmentionned all the time and it's really solid in terms of gameplay. One other less obvious game to pick up and play is Burning Soldier. It's a crosshair FMV shooter that's beatable in one sitting. I'm not a big fan of the genre, like I wouldn't recommend StarBlade in this topic, but Burning Soldier is definitely a game 3DO enthusiasts should own and play. Has anyone mentionned Crash n' Burn here? You can also do a quick race or two without loading your tournament racing file. It's combat racing!
  13. There're many ways to define "exclusive". Timed exclusives are one. So at the time of their 3DO release; D, BattleSport, Gex, Return Fire, Total Eclipse and StarFighter were 3DO exclusives. But after all these years you can have fun with these : Trip'D, Phoenix3, AD&D Slayer and Death Keep, Immercenary (LOVE this one), Blade Force, Crash n' Burn (Still play this regularly. VERY solid title), Burning Soldier, Escape from Monster Manor. Maybe Quarantine and Way of the Warrior, too
  14. Road Rash Most fighting games, but everyone should really avoid Rise of the Robots and Shadow : War of succession. They are good for nothing at all. Return Fire is good for a quick mission or two. Battle Sport. You can squeeze 2-3 matches in 15 minutes
  15. Yeah no I'm not into CD-i, I stumbled upon the site and it lists 3DO games I'm interested in. I wrote them that I am patient, so if they have something I want at I price I like, I'm buying no questions asked.
  16. Sounds like my experience with 'em just now. They emailed me saying most of the items haven't been in stock for years and they don't have time to list/price their stuff. Meh. Still asked them to touch base when they can, but I have to wonder how they keep operating not knowing what they have in their inventory or how much it costs hahahaha. Hopefully you'll have more luck with you CD-i endeavours. I'm into 3DO, so I know the feels.
  17. Hate to necromance, but I just filed an order through their site. The prices of the items I was looking at are almost too good to be true and, to be honest, I didn't expect their business to still be alive so I googled it and landed here I could tell that some of their pricing was a few years old already and that's what triggered my doubts. I did call the phone number on the site and left a voicemail. At least the message says it's Collector's Cards and Games. There IS hope. Has anyone bought anything from them recently?
  18. I love 3DO and it's my main collecting focus. But let's get real here. The Saturn blows the 3DO out of the water. It rivals the PSX, not the 3DO/Jaguar/Sega CD/Amiga CD-32. Now if you want to compare the 3DO to the Sega CD we'll talk
  19. Good day, bonjour. I am interested in the North American longbox games. Je vous envoie un message. Merci
