Atari is now owned by infogrames, which is part of hasbro. Activision still actively protects their stuff.

Looks a lot like the 2800....
-
I think that there were processors before the 286. The 8086 was it's predecessor, wasn't it? Was there ever a 186? BTW atari 400 x 13 = 5200. 5200 "twice as powerful as" 2600. 7800 "has power of 5200 and 2600" There was also the 2600 jr. proto, "2800" = 400 x 7 I think that the guys at atari had some sort of fixation on the number 400.

I play all my games on my Sears light 6'er. I don't own a Heavy 6'er.

What do you call the System - VCS or 2600?
Tsukasa replied to Great Hierophant's topic in Atari 2600
At my house I currently call it atari because it's the only atari system I have. Here, I call it the 2600. When talking to ignorant people, I call it atari, and if I need to clarify I will say 2600. -
Delta is a great game, but I don't think you can make a good 2600 conversion. There are far too many sprites on the screen, so the result would probably become a horrible flicker festival. What if you used the venetian blinds technique? The enemy sprites could be part of the background graphics.

Can anyone mod my Supercharger? (need Stella cd)
Tsukasa replied to Mr.FoodMonster's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Well, when a company plans on building and selling a piece of electronic equipment, they will order samples of various products for prototyping. -
Can anyone mod my Supercharger? (need Stella cd)
Tsukasa replied to Mr.FoodMonster's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Nope, none. I do it all the time. However, there is a limit to how many sample orders you can place within 30 days, I think it's 6. You'll find that a lot of semiconductor companies do this. TI ships by UPS. -

Are we allowed to use pictures from google images? -
That's a good addition to a zeller's collection, I guess povlok is trying to replace what he sold when he was in the hospital.....
-
I stopped working on it and probably won't continue it unless I can find a way to safely distribute it. I might go ahead and finish it anyway, I'd like to find a patching program so I can distribute a patch and tell people where to get the original rom. Are there any freeware patching programs available?

Can anyone mod my Supercharger? (need Stella cd)
Tsukasa replied to Mr.FoodMonster's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Go to this page. On the right, there is a column that says "samples". Click on the "request samples" link in the fifth row of that column. That will add part number SN74LS32N to your samples cart. -

You can get free samples of them from www.ti.com Good luck on finding anything at radio shaft, they don't carry them, and even if they did they would cost a buck and they never restock their shelves. -
7800 problem: read 2600 carts, but dont 7800 carts
Tsukasa replied to ZZTOP SOFT's topic in Hardware
Maybe it's not a 7800, but rather a 2600 jr. They look similar. -
Who? Me? No, but atari threatened to sue starpath if they released their asteroids clone, meteoroid. You can find out more at atariproto's suicide mission page.

Problem with 2600 unit: no picture, only weird static
Tsukasa replied to Exorcism Tongs's topic in Atari 2600
Those kind of rf switches are notorius for causing interference. Try a direct-connect adaptor. -
The funny thing about this topic is that Digital Eclipse does alot of arcade ports.
-
Actually, freeway was around before frogger www.atariprotos.com.
-
Well, the actual switch is fine, the plastic extension that flips the switch is broken off. You can get nintendo security bits from the ebay user called electric quarter. That's an easy fix.
-
Damn, when I saw the topic I thought someone was offering a Cuttle Cart for 5 bucks!
-
My guess is that the part of the purple power switch that moves the actual switch is broken off.... Shake your system, does anything rattle?
-
That smaller chip is an invertor, it's possible that your cart is a pirate (aka hozer).
-
I hate star raiders for the 2600, I'd much rather play phaser patrol.
-
I completely suck at this game, 1,153.
-
I think that's a little bit high, these usually go for much less on ebay.....
