It gives me something to do, and I feel better if build something myself than if I buy it. It's my summer break, and I don't have a job, so I have lots of time and little money. By using the info that I could find on the four score, I am working on essentially reverse-engineering it from software to hardware. (the info that I have was meant for writing emulators to support the four score, so I have what the console does to get the data it wants from the four score) I have a cannibalized nes that will eventually be part of my super game console setup in my room, connected to my computer along with my 2600 and sms. The whole setup will make a kick-ass development system, and will allow me to send game roms from my computer to various consoles. I'm going to standardize the controllers, because I hate nonstandard connectors. And because all of the controllers interface similarly, it won't be too difficult to do. This is going to be my big summer project.

Nintendo Cleaning Pads Question
Tsukasa replied to thegamezmaster's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Do you mean for cleaning the cartridges or for cleaning the console? For the cartridges, a q-tip soaked in rubbing alcohol works great. For the console, I would check nintendo's website nintendo.com -
I'm too cheap to buy one and wanted to try to build one. BTW: they didn't have it on the site you're reffering to, I've been there before.
-
Does anyone have the schematics for the four score?
-
Well, although it is nice to have all of those, in order to enjoy most of the 2600's library, all you need is a couple of joysticks, and 2 sets of paddles (for warlords ).

Help: Final Fantasy opinions & info
Tsukasa replied to cimerians's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I love FFVII it is in my opinion the best one of them all! I hated FFVIII I never beat FFIX (got 3/4 of the way through disc 3) FFX was pretty good - It had a kick-ass battle system FFX-2 they changed the battle system back to ATB, Played it halfway The early Final Fantasys are very nonlinear, that is, they don't tell you (or even hint as to) what you're supposed to do next. I almost beat FF1(all I had to do was get to and beat the final boss) but the save battery died. I almost beat Chrono Trigger, but couldn't beat the final boss. Final Fantasy Tactics is alright, but not really a Final Fantasy in my book. The ones I haven't mentioned, I have played at least halfway through, if not more. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is more like Gauntlet than Final Fantasy, but is still pretty good, especially with 4-players. Final Fantasy XI online is fun, but slow. I have been looking for people on AtariAge that are on the same server as me to play with, but to no avail. Chocobo Racing is a fun spinoff, it is esentially Mariokart mixed with Final Fantasy. Stay away from the horrid Final Fantasy Legend series on the original Gameboy! Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest on the SNES is more like Zelda, but it's not bad. By the way: Is Advent Children out in the U.S. yet, I haven't heard anything about it for awhile and was really looking forward to it. -
How Hard Is It To Find 2600 Stuff In Your Area?
Tsukasa replied to radiodude20's topic in Atari 2600
Well, apart from the fact that I'm f**king cursed, and can't find anything I want in my area, regardless of what it is...... I have never found anything atari related ever! The only video game systems that I have found in my area were very overpriced. Nothing that good anyways, n64, snes, mostly sports titles. On occasion, there are a few random 2600 or 7800 cartridges at my local video game store. Regardless of the cartridge, they are $2 a piece. So I might find a super common cart for $2, or I might find a slightly rarer cartridge for $2. That is how I got my Spacemaster X-7. Is anyone else out there able to share my pain? -
Need Help: SNES Donkey Kong Country SNES
Tsukasa replied to atarimind's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I had that happen to me too, I took my Snes apart, put it back together and cleaned it and it worked. I'm not really sure what triggers it. And I can't figure out how to save in the game. -
What about X-Man? With the scissors and the other pointy objects waiting to castrate you? Pac-man is violent on the eyes.....

Atari Flashback up for some competition?

I must say this about the flashback and famiclones....they are all Nes-in-a-chip's at heart. -
The Worst Features of Yard Sales and Flea Markets
Tsukasa replied to Great Hierophant's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I go to garage sales, even though I have yet to find anything good, EVER. I went to a flea market once, and I was scared shitless. Purely terrified. And I still didn't find anything! I have no luck at all. I can't win, I've never won anything no matter how much more deserving I am than any of the other participants. I am probably cursed. -
Probably because Atari originally planned to put speakers in the console.
-
The speaker grilles on either side of the top shell would work fine for exhausting the heat. 881075 Do the 4-switchers even have speaker grills? I thought that they were only on the 6-switchers.
-
I'll have to second that, I play lock n' chase more than any other pac-clone. EDIT: I just found Hack 'em on the hacks page, it kicks ass! I wish I could change my vote!

Atari Flashback up for some competition?
Tsukasa replied to Clint Thompson's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I am actually tempted to buy one of those Yobo famiclones, I saw that they had them at my local videogame store and they had one hooked up to a tv so you could play it. It looked pretty good, although I think it was $30. Hopefully they'll have the flashback 2 there when it comes out. -
CCS64, My favorite C64 emulator of all, I think it supports joysticks of the Usb variety. You can get it at Zophar's domain, But it seems like you have to register it now. My version supports cartridges, but it's the dos version, so I don't know what the deal is.

Galaxian Thrust Phoenix Ms. PacMan Lock N' Chase Centipede Keystone Kapers Frogger (Parker Bros. or Starpath, usually Starpath) Cosmic Ark Seaquest Sometimes I like to play Killer Satellites (Starpath version of Defender) If I had them, I know I would play the hell out of Dig Dug Stargate Dark Chambers

I believe that Nintendo has every right to crack down on game pirates, as the games and characters are still their intellectual property. However, they have no right to do anything about Famiclone systems that do not include built-in games, such as the Yobo. They don't have much of a valid point in saying that they are still making money off of these games, they are trying to, but their remakes are pure crap. It's not the piracy that's causing them to lose money, it's their shitty remakes. What I understand is that they think that any form of emulation is illegal, which is pure bullshit. I will execute my my under U.S. copyright law to have a backup of any game that I own. I still think that if they want to reduce the piracy, they should get off their asses and make their own famiclones, and cartridges. The only downside of this is that they don't want to have to deal with the tech support of people trying to play their old carts on the new systems.

I don't have enough games to be obsessive over organizing, I don't even have all of the super commons! I just buy'em if I come across some, I don't really care about collecting games, but if I come across a rare one, I'll keep it. I have enought Eproms anyways that I'll burn copies of the ones that I want. I have but 34 games.

All of the Mythicon games most of the Mystique/Playaround games all of the Realsports games Homerun All of the Super Challenge games Space Attack Sneak 'n Peek Raiders of the Lost Ark Golf Super Baseball Defender (although I never really liked the arcade version that much either) All of the SwordQuest games Commando Raid Basketball Basic math Word Zapper 3D tic tac toe (What the hell is this?!?!) Brain Games Canyon Bomber Concentration Flag Capture (A 2-player minesweeper clone) Football Human Cannonball Sky Diver Skeet Shoot Polo Alien Slot machine Steeple Chase Stunt Driver GI Joe All of Froggo's games All of Video Gems' games E.T. Pac-man Warplock These are just the ones I've played, I'm sure there are more out there.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with this recommendation. The Epyx 500XJ was just a smooth controller. Steve 877415 I'll also have to agree with this. My favorite stick of all time, period. It actually has arcade style switches in it, so it sounds and feels just like an arcade controller.

What exactly are you trying to do? Is it.... a) Access multiple Srams as individual devices using the same Data and Address bus b) Access them all at the same to read and write the same data to them all or c) Gang them to increase the overall memory size. 877386 The last one. I looked at the datasheets for the '138 and '139. That is what I needed, thanks everyone. Luckily, I have some '138's and '139's. All I have to do now is piggyback the memory and lift the chip selects.
-
I have a bunch of 32Kx8 Srams and I want to be able to address them as if they were one chip. Maybe with some simple logic to pull the different chip select lines low.

Flashback on Sale
Tsukasa replied to n8littlefield's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
I don't see any point in buying something that I know I will hate and never use. I will wait until it is verified that the fb2 has solder points on the board. -
I was watching the demos and noticed that he taps his foot when he stands still for a while. Overall, I am incredibly impressed so far. I don't think I could ever write anything in assembler, there aren't any "If...Then"s. Also, I like anything that Paul does, (I have a couple of Treewave songs in my WinAmp playlist).
