  1. Is there available code for the pals that I could write to them myself?

I would be willing to build a burner for pals, but is there some way to convert the code for pals into pic assembler? I already have a pic burner and a bunch of pics. One more question, how was the bankswitching built into the rom? Was it embedded in the code or was the masked rom multifuntional, ie. was most of the chip memory and the remaining portion bankswitching?

  2. No, I mean store the code for cheetah on the eprom and plug the game cart into the device. The microcontroller and other on-board hardware would do everything that cheetah does only without a computer.

All you do is enter the codes just like if you were using cheetah, it would be just like an actual gamegenie. :P

  3. Ze_ro, I thought that the gamegenie encryption was already cracked?

I know that there are programs out there that convert patches for the nes into gg codes. To make a similar device, all that you would have to do is note the differences between a bin file and the bin once it has been run through cheetah. Then you could burn the code to an eprom and use a multiplexer of some sort to insert the code from the eprom into some built-in sram on the cart. Then the game program could be read, and put onto the sram as well. Then the enable line could be activated and the atari could run the game as normal. The whole process could be performed by a microcontroller.

  4. I'm just curious, have you thought about what game you are going to choose for the HSC next week? I like it when the games are small enough to fit on the supercharger because I'm not too fond of emulation. But if it means not playing at all I'd rather use an emulator.

  5. I have the original tapes, so it is ok for me to have backups.

Isn't there some rule that says if you don't own the original media, then you should delete the roms within 24 hours?..

And what is the problem with knowing about the site? If you don't want to be guilty of copyright infringement, then don't download the roms.

I can't even get BridgeStone Multimedia's site to work.

I am willing take the risk of downloading copyrighted material, BUT, I do not want to take the fall for someone else if they get sued...

And why would anyone still care about owning the rights to outdated software that is 20 some years old? I think they are just being selfish...

  6. I know for certain what the problem is. It happened to me as well. After heavy use, the metal contacts inside of the plug fatigue a little bit and spread out so much that they no longer make contact with the console. But when you stick a probe from a continuity tester into the plug, the probe is big enough to touch the contacts. What I had to do was cut off the end connector and replace it with a new one. If you replace the connector with a computer connector, the metal shielding on it gets in the way, so the plug will continuously fall out. You will have to remove the metal shielding with a pair of pliers or something similar. Unless you get an exact replacement, the cord will end up looking like a hack job. :(

  7. Well, I own all of the games and I also have copies of the roms because I am entitled to backups. (And because I found a foreign site that doesn't have to follow U.S. copyright laws. ;)

I will reveal the site only if you promise not to hold me responsible for any copyright laws violated by downloading them and any resulting suits. ;)

I ran Killer Satellites through 2600gfx and the graphics aren't hard to hack at all. Not sure how to go about hacking the audio though.

  8. I was playing Killer Satellites earlier and I noticed how similar the game is to defender, (the arcade version, not the 2600 version  )

How hard is it to hack a supercharger game? Is it the same as hacking any other game? I thought that someone could hack Killer Satellites to be the arcade version of defender.

  9. What kind of eprom burner is the cheapest available that works?

I tried the epromr 2, but with no luck. Maybe I am not very good at building things.. I am tempted to buy a Willem, but if it turns out not to work, then I am out $50, which is a considerable chunk of change out of my small wallet. Does anybody have any suggestions for a cheap alternative that they have tried and are satisfied with? Please let me know.

  10. Was there every a Supercharger type of device for the NES? I was just thinking about it and I thought that it would be really cool if someone could come up with something like that.

  11. I wonder if a #0000001 does exist :ponder:

One probably exists out there somewhere but it may have been a prototype or something similar.

My four switch vadar doesn't have a SN.... :? I think the label was removed before I got it. |icon_innocent.gif (Ebay... )

My 6-switch Sears' SN is 82155903.

  12. I did the stereo mod and the composite video mod on my heavy-6er telegames unit and I am quite satisfied with the results except for the fact that, :x :x THE SCREEN ROLLS! :x :x

The colors are correct and all but the screen continuously rolls from bottom to top. I did everything right and I don't know why this is happening.

It didn't do this with RF, any ideas?

  13. What I do is open up the pots and wipe the carbon resistance track with a q-tip soaked with rubbing alcohol. Then I spray another q-tip with some white grease and use that to grease up the pot just a bit so it turns easier.

Also make sure that you wipe the runner with rubbing alcohol as well.
