I was thinking of using that special kind of lense that has all those little circles on it....(can't remember what it's called....Franex...I think...) The reason for the screen size is really due to the budget. I guess 20 buttons is a bit too much, but I want at least 4 buttons for each player, along with one trackball (for centipede, crystal castles, etc.), and a spinner for games like tempest. So, I guess that I don't need more than 14 buttons in all. I was just looking for suggestions about which cabinets are the better ones. I've already been to arcadecontrols.com, but the list is so big, I don't want to spend hours looking for one that I like. BTW, is an I-Pac worth it? If I go that route, that cost of the materials will be upwards of $300 if I get a coin door and all that stuff.

I want to build a Mame cabinet. I need some suggestions as to which designs are best for what I want. I want the cabinet to accomodate the following: 19" TV, 2 sticks, 20 buttons, Spinner, Trackball, keyboard, and of course, the computer.

I have been waiting for a long time to pick my game, if the line for choosing games remains, I still won't be able to pick my game until next year. I haven't been able to play very much recently due to school and other things. My solution to the sniping is that the window for posting scores should be smaller. I do not like the idea of it being random, as personal issues may cause problems.

Thomas already converted Gyruss Oh yeah, I forgot about that because it was converted to F4 and I don't have an F4 Bankswitch cart.

It's quite a lot of work, so I will do them quite slowly. Which one should I do next I vote for Gyruss, one of my all time favorite games(that I don't have on cart).

Yes, the potentiometer is a standard, linear-taper, 1 MegaOhm potentiometer. They are available at Radioshack for about 2 bucks a piece.

Sounds to me like your TIA is damaged.

This is the ultimate site for all psx(original gray playstation) problems. http://www.geocities.com/psxrepair/basic.html

Ok, here is the current status of my system and what has happened so far: Currently it is not working. I tried greasing the rails and cleaning the laser, but to no avail. I had opened the system to adjust the height of the laser because I was getting Disc Read Errors. I had a guide with step by step instructions, but when I got to the part about testing the different kinds of games, the PS2 refused to read any of them. The spindle motor(makes the disc spin) would turn about 1/8 of a revolution then stop. There is no evidence of friction in the spindle motor, so I assume that it is still good. I hope it's not the laser that is bad, because they are expensive to replace. If I start it up with no disc in, the spindle still only turns about 1/8 of a full turn, and I can see the laser moving up and down with it's little electromagnets.

I have a version 4 ps2 that isn't working. It boots up fine, but when it tries to read the disc, the browser says "reading disc" for a second, then says "no data". When I open it up and watch the disc drive spin, it only spins about 1/8 of a turn then stops. Any ideas as to what the problem is?

Won't the colors be off because of the different TIA chips?

512k ought to be enough to do ports of games that never made the jump from arcade to 2600. The ones that I would like to see the most are; Galaga, Bubble Bobble, Bomberman, lemmings.... the possibilities are endless.....

Donkey Kong, Defender, Pac-man, Lock n chase, word zapper.

It is possible that the RIOT or the TIA is damaged. The joystick directions are read by the RIOT, the joystick fire buttons are read by the TIA along with the paddle movements.

Krokodile Cartridge - Games it Will Not Play
Tsukasa replied to Great Hierophant's topic in Atari 2600
Q*bert is 4k and not bankswitched. -
I don't think the John deere one was as good as the stormtrooper one.
-
Damn..... you must have played hard with it, cuz the switches in it are really heavy-duty like those in an arcade machine.

Maybe my mom's a transexual. (S)he hates frogger with a passion. My mom doesn't really understand why I like old games and stuff like that. The most often thing I hear from her about atari is, "...and you wasted your money on that because....?) My parents were (back in the dayt) really into galaga. That's one of my favs. It's a pity it never appeared on the 2600.

I've got one of those. It has to be my favorite controller for anything I can plug it into. It came with my C64 I bought off of ebay.

My first score ever at this game: 555 The graphics look like star wars. Great game BTW. Never played it before. I haven't been on the forums since school started, I've just been to busy. Thanks to christmas break, I'll finally have a chance to be back on for awhile.

15, I'll be 16 in january. I grew up with a genesis, not knowing that we had an NES stashed away in the closet. The genesis was the only system I knew at the time. I remeber fantasizing about working for sega and wanting to write games for the system. It wasn't until my brother's birthday that we got a SNES. I don't know how old I was but I remeber hearing about the NES being redesigned at that time. I love old technology, not just games, but other sorts of electronics too! I was suprised to see other people around my age here, I thought I was the youngest here!

I don't think that it was a good idea to offer the $10 gift certificate. I like free money as much as anyone else, but I think that it really hurt what this competition was supposed to stand for. Imagine what would happen if money were offered for the top scorer in the HSC every week. People would lose interest because it wouldn't be for fun anymore, it would be for money. People would begin doubting each others score's. It would be the downfall of the HSC.

Ze_ro, could you please remove taternuts53 and davepesc from team commodore if they don't have the required 4 qualifying scores by 10:30 tonight? I have been unable to contact them and I don't want them to disqualify our team. Thanks

Ah, no wonder I didn't understand it.
