  1. Is getting a PAL C64, suitable power supply and a TV set that can display PAL signal out of the question? PAL/NTSC conversations probably always have been a dilemma on all systems. When it comes to C64, I remember some Epyx games like Summer Games, Impossible Mission and Pitstop II were delayed by some time before they appeared in Europe, as the conversation to PAL was more difficult than the programmers had anticipated, often due to timing issues I think.

Yes, it is out of the question. Hopefully, when I get a disk drive, this won't be a problem.

  2. No, I don't have any tapes, I'm using audiotap and wavprg to convert games that I download into wav files, and then play them through my soundcard into the commodore using this interface.

I downloaded the games from a european site, so that is probably why my games are pal. I can use games that are in the following formats: p00, prg, tap and t64.

  3. ...if someone wants to build one they can. For someone who is experienced in soldering, it would probably be easy to do (only 2 chips!)...

I would like to build one of these! I am experienced in soldering.

If you make the design available, then homebrewers can start writing games for it that could be sold at the AA store.

  4. Those "smears" (assuming you're talking about the bottom right portion of the trim) look more like light reflections, since there's black above and below, and it's hard to smear just the middle of such a small area.  There _does_ appear to be some bleeding of the white up the sides of the trim, though, but it's hard to tell with a low res pic.  I'll admit though that the mere fact that it's shiny is suspect -- it's matte plastic and generally doesn't reflect light very well.  That looks more like acryllic paint.  The panel looks awfully white, though; I have a Sears, and though it's certainly silver even it doesn't usually reflect as that white.

Well, hopefully I'll get outbid, or he'll kill it 'cos I'm not in the US.  Otherwise I'll just retract my bid for item misrepresentation.

After closer inspection of my sears console, there is actually a thin amount of silver paint on the edge where these so-called "smears" are.

Maybe it is a fake, look at the picture of the bottom closely, notice anything missing? The two screws with washers are gone.

Also, it is possible to pop the front panel "bezel" out of the main casing.

  5. You might want to talk to sylentwulf here at atari age, he runs electric quarter.

The only problem that i've had was when I ordered some atari games, and the auction said that they were going to be shipped priority mail, and he ended up shipping them media mail. So I got charged for priority and ended up waiting for media.
