Nice to know I have an original 1977 Atari Funny thing is, my mother picked this up at a garage sale over 10 years ago and I just now looked at it. Now I'm glad I told her to buy any computer (console) related hardware she could find.

Here is a picture of the unit: http://www.geocities.com/geforcemx2000/ Does anyone know if the black molding, as well as the back piece, are made of some kind of wood? Sure seems like it is. It definitely isn't like my other Atari 2600 (that's plastic).

Based on this page: http://www.atariage.com/2600/archives/consoles.html I believe this unit is the original Atari 2600 created in 1977. It has the 6 switches and weighs a ton compared to my other 2600 (CX-2600A). This is what the label says on the bottom: mfg. by Atari, inc. Sunnyvale, ca. CX-2600 189 serial: 75946F The 189 looks like it's stamped (larger font) and is between the serial number. Does anyone know what this number represents? Is this the unit count? My other Atari 2600 doesn't have this number.
