  1. My favorite item isn't a game at all. It's my Atari 2800 Super Breakout manual. I think I told this somewhere else, but I got it in a pile of manuals that were $.25 each. I told the guy selling it what it was and I could see him visibly pale at the thought of what he could have gotten for it. My River Patrol (my only rarity 10) is also quite nice.
  2. Tempest, Did you get my e-mail with a link to my list of available games? If not, it's at Rochester Collectors Emporium Let me know
  3. I've searched for a reasonably priced EPROM programmer, but they always seem to be expensive or incomplete/unsupported. I found this one on the Web and was wondering if anyone knows if it will work for the purposes of making custom 2600 carts. The Pocket Programmer The price seems good (considering it is new and comes with support software) so I'd like anyone's comments on the feasability/quality of this product. If this one doesn't seem to be of value, does anyone have any other ideas how to get a good, reasonably priced EPROM burner? Thanks.

I buy the games to own and play them. A lack of an end label doesn't make me feel the cart is not worth owning. I mean, I ain't giving up my River Patrol 'cause it doesn't have an end label.
  5. Oh, and as for the other stuff; the mug, bumper sticker and keychain are fine, but I regularly wear the hat and t-shirt so they're not really in archival condition.
  6. I'll get the scans to you tomorrow or Monday. The Jaguar Official Gamers Guide is available from amazon. Here's the link.
  7. The auction ended on May 12, but today (July 21 for those of you keeping score) I finally received my three Brazilian Atari 2600 carts. All CCE, I got Jaw Breaker, Bank Heist and Frogger. All together now: "Brazil… Our hearts were entertaining June We stood beneath the amber moon And softly murmured, “Someday soon” We kissed And clung together. Then Tomorrow was another day, The morning found me miles away With still a million things to say. Now As twilight dims the sky above Recalling thrills of our love There’s one thing I’m certain of… Return… I will… To old… Brazil…” Lyrics taken from the Sinatra version, so they may clash with your memory, lyrics found on the web or the actual lyrics. 8. You could try double sided tape. The only probelm is it will sometimes come loose in hot weather.
  9. quote: Originally posted by Albert: Does anyone know of any catalogs that feature Jaguar games? Albert, I got an Atari Jaguar catalog from goatari.com a few years back (also a keychain, mug, bumber stickers, baseball hat and t-shirt. - $19.99 - sweeeet! ) The catalog lists some unreleased games (like Brett Hull Hockey, Tiny Toons, etc.). I'll scan any of that stuff you want. Just give me the word.

  11. What seems clear to me is that a lot of people don't consider Hozer releases to be 'real' releases. The fact that he puts anything on a cartridge seems to diminish them in some poeple's eyes. The lack of certain things (a box, for instance) only increases the sense of getting less when buying from Hozer. I think the people who want one of the 20 copies want them because they come from the guy who created it. In their minds a copy from Hozer is no more real than a copy of Chase the Chuckwagon from Hozer. The only real copy is the one that came from the creator and that's why they want it. I could be wrong, of course, but that's what seems to be the case to me.
  12. Where did you see this offer? I can't find it on the Telegames site. (And is that telegames.com or telegames.co.uk?)
  13. Does anyone know the differences between the Dreamcast and PC versions? Is there anything the DC version doesn't have? I really only want to buy one copy and I usually prefer a console edition (of course I'll ignore the PSX version as I always do). But if there's enough extra stuff on the PC version I'll get that. (And the DC one later when it's clearanced like all the other DC titles. )
  14. Here's an area that's full of potential and could just drive you crazy: Brazilian bootlegs. There's gotta be thousands of them. The key manufacturers (from what I've gathered) seem to be: Dactar, Tron, Microsoft (not Bill's), Digitel and CCE, but there are countless others. Not to mention the authorized Polyvox cartridges that encompass both Atari and Activision titles. The coolest boots are the many, many multi-carts - most from Dactar. This is an area I'm trying to get into (if only the ones I won on eBay would arrive!)
  15. Hate to say this, but I looked at your mock-up and you seem to be doing the wrong box style. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Dutchman says on his site that he wanted the box and label to look like Water World, which has a different style than the one you used. It is the 'Silver2' style, with the small "Atari2600" in the upper right. Check the WaterWorld box scan to see what I mean.
  16. No offense, but I think I'd be rather annoyed to go through all the trouble to program, manufacture, package and release a game only to see credit go to Hozer, even if they (he) did release a version later. It's your call ultimately, but how about an informal poll of the users as to whether this kind of information would be considered 'clutter'? My guess is most people would prefer accuracy over the convenience of a slightly shorter list of companies. Alternatively, you could have a sort of 'Self Released' listing where all games listed were released by the creators themselves. This would reduce clutter and still not be inaccurate. Anyway, thanks again for listening.
  17. Well, I had one and it had to be the worst controller I ever owned. Not only was it uncomfortable, it was unresponsive. I'm actually thankful that it broke within a month of having received it as it gave me the opportunity to dissect it for wacky controller projects I did at the time. Of course, I still need to replace my manual for No Escape because of the furshulinger order form I cut out. If you find one, don't pay a lot for it and don't say I didn't warn you.
  18. As for the problem of constantly shifting games, the solution for me is to have a 'new acquisitions' box. Once you get into the 2-300 cart areas (like me) the 'new acquisitions' is where you can put the most recent items until you've built up a whole bunch to sort in. (In fact I'm due to redo mine now. Got about twelve carts waiting.) That way you don't so it too often, yet there is still a system of organization.
  19. I use double rowed trading card boxes for most loose carts. I take the divider out for 2600, 7800, Coleco and other like-sized carts (two rows fit perfectly!) and leave it in for Intellisvision, Atari 8-bit, and other small ones. The advantage here over shoe boxes is that they are sturdy and meant to defend trading cards from moisture, so the carts are well protected. They also stack well and a simple sticker on the end can describe the contents. They look nice stacked up that way and are not as expensive as the Rubbermaid.
  20. Again, to be fair to Infogrames, they have re-released all the Hasbro Interactive PC games at a low price (mostly $9.99) and released the new Atari Anniversary collection for the PC, Dreamcast and PSX. And it's not a rehash, but a new collection of games, many of which have not been done in an official package before. The collection is getting rave reviews (unlike some of the Hasbro releases) and I think bodes well for the future.
  21. Least favorite: 1. Hat Trick 2. Karateka (controls, it looked good.) 3. Baryard Blaster 4. Jinks 5. Crack'ed Favorites 5. Donkey Kong 4. Donkey Kong Jr. 3. Ballbalser 2. Mario Bros. 1. Ninja Golf (Ninjas! Golf! Bwa Ha Ha Ha!)
  22. For me, it's Video Pinball. I love those bumper buttons on either side, so it feels like a real machine.
  23. The main problem that I see for Mr. Wright would be the weaknesses in his arguements. Although he took the time to divide his letter into an impassioned plea and a legal defense, his defense seems mostly to be of the "go on, let him off, it's a lovely day..." kind of thing. He hurts himself also with his explainations of why he chose the Atari Labs name. He says that there was no effort by Hasbro or Infogrames to revive the Atari name, and this is blatantly untrue. It can be argued whether or not they did a good job, but Hasbro definitely revived the name. It graced all Atari related products for PC, PlayStation and Dreamcast. They also promoted the Atari name on their web site with web based games. Likewise, Infogrames have, in the short time theyv'e owned Habro Interactive and Atari, shown a clear intention to use the name to its fullest advantage. Noone can claim that their intent to promote the name is not clear. He also states that there never was an 'Atari Labs' only an 'Atari Consumer Labs.' While this may be true in the sense that 'Atari Labs' was not an official name, nonetheless a search of Google not only doesn't yield the results he mentions, it yields specific references to 'Atari Labs', some of which are industry observations or anecdotes. So while it may not have been a formal name, it nonetheless was a phrase that pre-existed Atarilabs.com. Google search Mr. Wright also states that he did not want the Atari name to languish. This seems an odd thing to claim given the existance of AtariHQ, Atari.net, AtariAge, etc. The Atari name was in no danger of languishing and certainly didn't need him to save it. Now, understand that I'd kind of like Infogrames to give in. I'm in agreement that this kind of thing can hurt their image with the very base they are trying to capture (as it clearly has). That being said, I do not think Mr. Wright is on quite as solid ground as you seem to think he is. Remember the case of Madonna.com. It was held by a man who used it for a sex site, but decided (when pressured by Madonna) to turn it over to the people who run www.Madonna.org, the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital. He lost in court and the name was given (without recompense) to Madonna. I don't think Madonna has a greater claim to the word 'madonna' than Atari does to 'atari.'
