no wonder you can't find crazy climber or quadrun anywhere- you've got 'em all

big boy- i kind of talked about this last year. one of my favorite atari memories growing up. me, my 2 brothers, and a cousin back in '80 or so had our own atari olympics. played every game. the winner of each event receiving 4 points, 2nd place 3 pts., and so on. nothing serious of course but a great way to test your overall skills for each game.

the past year i've recently figured that a quadrun in good condition would go for about $1000. alot of money? a guy here that i work with spent about $250 on drinks last weekend at a bar. and he goes out almost every weekend! i'd rather spend $1000 on something that will give me enjoyment the rest of my life than something that i'll get rid of my next trip to the bathroom!

reading and talking about atari- especially in the early days brings back such vivid memories. was around 13-14 yrs. old. we 1st got the 2600 around 1979/1980. my cousin got one first, which led us to get one probably a few months later (can't remember if it was for christmas or not). most of the memories were of playing it in the summer at a vacation house in the poconos for hours on end- that was easy to do then since there were like only 5 tv stations and cable barely existed (incredible). bought and played only atari games- surround, air sea battle, dodge'em, human cannonball, bowling, breakout....... ahhhh the good old days! didn't get an activision game until a couple years later (it started with skiing and ice hockey).

just want to let everybody know. i e-mailed the seller to see if it had ever been worn, and if there was any odor. and she responded! yes, IT IS NEW, and has never been worn! therefore i guess there's no smell. happy bidding!

super breakout is better because of the variations in game play- it's got a version with 2 balls at once, the double paddle and another (i'm not sure if it's the same game) with 2 separate breakout walls. and there's one where the wall creeps down every few seconds- like space invaders.

I haven't seen a post from Pitfall Harry (Ben) for a while.

the map is insane. it's a work of art, a masterpiece. there must be an award of some kind for this effort. -

TRUE- THERE'S NO PROBLEM GETTING AN ATARI (2600 OR 7800) GAME INTO THE 7800 SYSTEM. BUT MOST OTHER GAMES- ACTIVISION, IMAGIC, PARKER BROS. DON'T FIT SNUGGLY IN AND SOMETIMES CAN'T BE PLAYED. NO PROBLEM ON THE 2600 SYSTEM THOUGH.

yep-i think it all peaked with yar's revenge. not only was there the manual, but the pamphlet with the story behind the game. amazing, that's what made the games more than a game. it was an experience.

me too. it was pure luck that i passed it on the tv when i did. even though i didn't see anything i know it'll be on again, either later this week or so, or on another pbs station at a later date (i get 3 in my area). it's probably the only time i regret not watching the show too- old gaudy junk just doesn't do it for me.
-
so what did he say? like i just posted, i missed it.
-
just this minute i was flipping the channels on t.v. and caught the last 10 seconds of a segment on pbs's antiques roadshow (the t.v. guide says it's part 3 of 3 las vegas show). the gentleman who owned the unit had a number of carts- one of which was quadrun. i can't believe i missed it because i had to watch the weather channel at that moment.

i thought it was a good game when i got it almost 25 yrs. ago for $32.95! night driver, or any atari 2600 game, is worth $1- especially if you don't own it yet. buy it- it'll last you forever.

i just hope it doesn't rain fri. morning cause if i can't pick up the signal that well here (in new jersey) i'll have to try standing on my roof with an antenna

hey kid- if you want to know what it was like having an atari at 12 years old look at the topic i started a few weeks ago-"greatest atari memories". remember back then there was practically no cable tv, no vcrs- atari was one of the few indoor ways of entertainment other than board games

keystone kapers, and maybe private eye. very original games. additional playing fields could make the games even more intriguing. especially kapers. 3 levels, 1 escalator, 1 elevator just doesn't seem to do it. i don't think this game ever reached its full potential.

oh my god. after seeing the ice hockey commercial it's now coming back. i remember that commercial now.
-
the only version i ever played of that game was (i believe) the 1st one. that's the one where the screen is symmetrical, and that's only for the fastest speed. all the other versions are impossible. it's like riding a bicycle in your house.
-
atari was one of my true loves (and still is) 20 yrs. ago but amazingly i can't remember any commercials from back then. if i see one it might come back to me but i can't recall any off the top of my head.

you cant't beat ebay. it's a giant store with a constantly changing never ending inventory. i just don't know where some of these people get their shipping rates from- i think they just make them up. i've seen rates from $1.25 to $6 - for one cartridge! on one cart i bought i asked the seller if it could be shipped for less. the jerk actually said no because since the item was sold for so little (a few $) he used inflated shipping prices to help himself make a profit. pretty pathetic.
