  1. The thread title had me worried for a moment there...

Mine doesn't have the sticker, and never has. I've owned it since new, and wouldn't have removed it. So either they hadn't caught it yet, or missed it.

Nathan, thanks for the info on your copy as well as for the picture. It looks like yours is part of the original batch that went out before Parker Brothers noticed the mistake.

Out of curiosity, why were you worried about the thread title?

  2. My copy of Super Cobra has the sticker. And judging by the quality of it, is probably the kind where if you tried to remove, would take up some of the box art with it. I'd venture to guess this might be a case where the error went unnoticed for some time and early copies already in circulation, wouldn't have had the sticker.

What you're saying makes sense. I hadn't noticed that about the sticker. Thanks.

  3. On the back of the Super Cobra box, where the number of players is indicated, there's a small sticker to the right of the "1". Online, there are pictures of the box with and without this sticker. The sticker is covering up "or 2". Pics of both are attached below. Since this is a single-player game, it appears that Parker Brothers used the sticker to cover up the mistake. This reminds me of a couple of Atari's later releases, where black tape was used to cover up the incorrect controller on the cart. For those Super Cobra boxes without the sticker, I was wondering if the sticker was removed by the game's owner, or if perhaps Parker Brothers just didn't place the sticker on all the boxes. I guess there's not much more to be said about this, but if anyone has any additional details regarding this, it would be interesting to hear. By the way, does anyone know of any other instances similar to these in the 2600 library? Thanks.

  4. It is probably from a South American seller. I noticed these a few months ago and almost purchased one. I got control of my need for every minor variant and passed.

On eBay, a few of these boxes with the stickers have been sold out of Venezuela. You mentioned that they're probably from South American sellers; is there a specific reason why copies from there would have the sticker? I did notice one U.S. seller on eBay that also had these boxes. Thanks.

  5. Hey, everyone. On some of the Raiders of the Lost Ark box covers, there's a round, gold sticker with the Atari logo and name on it. Does anyone have any information regarding these stickers, specifically when they were used? Could these have been the very first boxes to have left the factory when the game was released? Thanks for the help.

  6. Hey, Gauauu, thanks for the information. Well, the first two catalogs on the left have 1982 copyright years, while the third is from 1984, and the last one from 1987. From what I'm seeing online, Joust was re-released in 1986, and Crystal Castles had three separate re-releases (1986, 1987 & 1988). Based on this, it seems like Crystal Castles' 1987 release matches up with that last catalog, so maybe that's the game.

Thanks again for the help. I know it's tough remembering that far back.

  7. Hi, everyone. Have any of you ever found any of these Atari game catalogs (pictured below) in any sealed game? I never have, and I've only managed to find the first two loose, but not the last two. These catalogs are somewhat scarce, especially the last two. I've even thought that maybe the last two weren't even included with any 2600 games, since they also featured games from Atari's other consoles, but I'm not sure about this. If you've found any of these before, would you know which catalog was found with which game(s)? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  8. Hey, everybody. I have a question regarding Apollo's box variants, specifically about the red boxes. From what I've seen, Apollo had two versions of its red boxes. The main difference I've noticed is with regard to the Apollo logo which appears on the bottom-left corner of the box cover, as well as on the back of the box. In one variant, the word "APOLLO" appears in red, and in the other, it appears in orange. My question is, which one of these came first? Any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help.

  9. Wow, Suzana, thank you so very much for the clarification. I really appreciate it, especially that you took the time to send the picture. That was very nice of you. This certainly clarifies my question. And I'm glad you mentioned that it's a rare item. It will definitely be very hard to come by. I'm sure this isn't the case, but If you're ever interested in selling it, please let me know. Thanks again for the help. Take care.

  10. Hi, everybody. I hope everyone is doing well.

I'm writing because I'm interested in buying a copy of Pole Position for the 2600, and since I'm not familiar with the game's different variants, I went online to do a little research. I came across something called the "Grand Prix Kit". It's an insert for the game which consisted of two items. The "Grand Prix 1984 World Championship Wall Chart" is a fold-out poster with pictures of the different Formula 1 drivers from that time, along with pictures of the circuit's race tracks and some of the race cars. The kit also included what appears to be a sheet with images of the different drivers' cars. I went on eBay and Amazon in hopes of tracking down either the kit by itself or a CIB game with the kit but didn't have any luck. It seems like it might be a scarce item.

I did notice that, on both the poster and what appears to be a magazine ad from England (since the game price in the ad was in British Pounds), the box that was shown was the silver label with the while lettering, as opposed to the silver with the arcade lettering (with the triangles embedded in each letter). On eBay, there were several sealed copies of this variant with the white lettering; it had the multiple languages on the back of the box. I contacted one of the sellers who was nice enough to open one of them, but these items were not included. The only two 1983 variants I'm seeing online are these two that I've mentioned: the silver label with arcade lettering, and the silver label with white lettering and multiple languages.

And so I've come to you guys for some help. Has anyone out there ever seen these items, and do you remember which box variant included them? I'd really appreciate any help you can give me. Looking forward to your responses. Take care, everyone.

  11. Hello, everyone. I just recently joined the forum, and this is my first post.

Growing up, I never knew that adult games were available for the 2600. I just recently found out about them online. I can't imagine them having been sold at department or toy stores.

Out of curiosity, where were these games sold? Does anyone remember? Thanks in advance for any responses.
