  1. You're welcome, my friend. And you're absolutely right. You can see that Activision made sure that each jacket was in line with what the game was all about. And, Wiz, what can I say about these two items? Just wonderful. Thanks for sharing them.
  2. Here you go, CVGA. I hope the picture didn't come out too bad.
  3. That's a great idea. Let me send her an email. I'll let you know, as soon as she responds.
  4. CVGA, I dug around a little bit more and was reading the AA thread where Todd Rogers confirmed that he received a jacket from Activision (with this Starmaster patch on it) for holding the world record on all 4 Starmaster game variations at the same time. Which is what you stated above. I have a feeling there's a real interesting story behind this patch. The patch reads "Activision presents Starmaster". That makes it sound like a patch that was produced to promote/introduce the game, when it was first released. Basically, a promotional patch, maybe to be given away at trade shows or sent to retailers. It doesn't really seem like this patch was made for the purpose of rewarding world record holders. I would think that a patch of that magnitude would specifically say something like "Starmaster World Champion". This is just a hunch, but maybe these were, in fact, produced as promo items. And perhaps they were never distributed, because if they had been, there would be more of these floating around. And at some point, Activision just decided to reward the world record holders and sent them this patch, since they already had it on hand.
  5. Boy, that's the first time I see that patch. Just did a quick search on the ole interweb, and the Digital Press website says that it's a "rare promotional patch"; it's towards the bottom of the page. Maybe you've already seen the site, but here's the link: https://www.digitpress.com/archives/cc_patches_2600.htm Let me do a little more digging around, and I'll get back to you. Awesome patch, by the way!
  6. Cool. You got it. I'll take the picture later tonight. I see what you're saying about the writing always being on the left side. I think I'll place the Decathlon jacket on top, so that both the writing and ribbon are visible, then stack the others below it (towards the right), so all the writing is visible. Sweet!
  7. Only if you make sure to wear the aviator cap.
  8. CVGA, I've seen a total of 5 Activision jackets. There are the four from my collection that I posted in this thread (i.e. Grand Prix, Tennis, Decathlon & Barnstorming). Plus the safari jacket that was issued in conjunction with the Pitfall Party (Rumble in the Jungle). That one I don't have; I found a pic online & posted it earlier in this thread. You mentioned about having a picture of them all together. I can do that with the four that I have, if you'd like. Let me know how I should take the picture. I can maybe stack them on top of each other, exposing half the jacket, so they're all visible. Or I can take a full shot of all of them together, although I'll have to take it from far away, and they might come out too small. Well, you let me know how you'd like the pic, and I'll do it. Thanks.
  9. Here's an odd one. A MEGAMANIA "self-illuminating" light pen. The plastic tip on the pen lights up. I'm not sure what the purpose of the pen's light was, especially considering that the light isn't very strong. To be able to write in the dark? Kind of strange, but, oh well. I've seen identical pens with other companies' names on it, so Activision wasn't the only one to order this pen. As seen in the first picture, it came with an instruction booklet and two ink refills. I've posted additional pics of the pen in different "stages of assembly". It operates on two AAA batteries, which are inserted into the barrel. And there's a slide switch to turn on the light. In the last picture, you'll see the pen with the light on.
  10. BARNSTORMING Flight Instructor jacket and aviator cap
  11. Oh, yeah, that could be. Hadn't thought of that. Thanks.
  12. SPIDER FIGHTER promo ribbon. On the back, there's a strip of paper that you remove to reveal some adhesive. I'm not sure what you would stick this to. Maybe your desk, or the wall. Any ideas?
  13. OK, on to some Robot Tank stuff. First off is the promotional poster for the game. You would get the poster (for free; just paying $0.86 for postage & handling) by sending in an order card that came in specially marked boxes of the game. Attached are pics of the poster, game box and order card. I'm also attaching a picture of the Robot Tank promotional postcard, which also makes reference to the poster. Read the postcard, guys; it's pretty funny. Poster Game box Order card Postcard (front) Postcard (back)
  14. Shawn, I bought one in July of last year for $20 on eBay. I've seen a few of these for sale, and they've all sold in that price range. Next time I see one come up for sale, I'll be sure to let you know.
  15. To echo Bill's sentiments... How in the hell do you follow those two incredible posts by CPUWIZ and CVGA? Well, I'll bring things back down to Earth talking about a much, much more common item - the promotional hockey puck for Activision's ICE HOCKEY. I don't know if many of you know this, but there were three "variants" of the puck (that I know of). There was one with a TM symbol next to the company name, and the back of the puck was blank. There was another with an R symbol, with the back of the puck also blank. And the last one has the R symbol, but the NHL logo appears on the back, and the color of the printing was different. I don't know anything about all these trademarks with the TM and R symbols, but I assume that, when these pucks were made, Activision was changing their corporate structure (i.e. going from TM to R, or vice versa) and used the symbol that was in effect at the time. Here are pictures of the three pucks. I'm also attaching the magazine ad where you could send away for one of these awesome pucks, for free. And a pic of the ICE HOCKEY promo poster as well. 16. CVGA, those are insanely cool. And unpunched too!
  17. Wow, Wiz, that is awesome!!! And you're right; there probably isn't another one of these anywhere. I know that guests were given a safari jacket and hat, as seen in the attached pic. Could that be what they were referring to when they said "Please dress for a Safari Adventure!"?
  18. Fantastic. I had never seen a sealed one before. Thanks for sharing, CVGA.
  19. Nice. It's always cool to have a loose one, in case you wanna strap it on and go line dancing. Then, go home and have a cold one, always remembering to use the Stampede leather coaster. I've noticed that these have been selling for close to $80 (new in bag).
  20. As per CPUWIZ's excellent idea of using this as the official Activision promo thread, I submit the following: Well, this is one that I think everyone has seen before. It's the promo belt buckle for STAMPEDE. I remember reading in either the 2600 Connection or Digital Press that this buckle was a give-away at a party that Activision hosted. Maybe it was the release party for the game. If memory serves me correctly, I think it also said that 500 of these buckles were produced. I was going to take pictures of the one in my collection, but I found these really nice pics on eBay, so I'll use these. Attached are pics of the buckle still sealed in its plastic bag. Yeehaw! More promo items to come in the following days.....
  21. Thanks for the update, King. Something else came to mind. When Plaque Attack was released (in May of 1983), things were probably already starting to go south, because of the crash. And maybe Activision didn't want to produce a promo item from scratch, which would have cost them more money. Buying this eraser "off the shelf" was a less expensive option. Just a thought.
  22. Great job, CVGA. Thanks for taking the time to look into this.
  23. King, I was thinking the exact same thing when I first saw the eraser. Out of curiosity, I asked and was told that it was, indeed, given out in conjunction with Plaque Attack. I'm thinking one of two things. Either the item was so small that it didn't really make sense to put the name of the game on it. Or maybe Activision just went out and bought these erasers "off the shelf" and made them their own to promote the game. I took a good look at the eraser and noticed something that I hadn't seen before. There's some writing engraved on the back. So I took the most close-up picture I could, and I'm attaching it here. There are three lines of text. I think the second line says 1982. And the bottom line appears to start off with a copyright symbol. But I can't make out what the rest says. Now, according to Random Terrain, Plaque Attack was released in May of 1983. You would think that any promo items made for the game would have a 1983 copyright year. But if the eraser was made in 1982, then maybe it was just a generic purchase by Activision and wasn't specifically manufactured for the game. King, if you could check the erasers you have, that would be great. Thanks.
