*** Moderators: Could you move this to hacks forum please *** * Sorry About posting in the wrong place, it won't happen again * in my learning how things work phase, i tried hacking Laser Volley nothing big just changeing sprites and stuff with hack-o-matic. well after i changed the detonator sprite and saved the new bin under a diffrent name, i tried it out and when i got to the detonator (the first one) it just went to a black screen and stopped dead. The Emulator i am using is PCAE win 2.5 (Does this matter ?) now is there somthing i should do after making a change to a rom before saving it that would prevent this from happening ? thanx for any help in this area OA

Did another search for microcode and came across an old article called "Meet David Crane" and it explained Micro Code as being a short hand for Assembly that the Programmers would use and how it would later become a Permanet Set of instructions for the game on the Rom Now i understand and i really think 2600 Developers or any game Developers have it a lot Easier now than these guys did 20 years ago And yeah CYBERGOTH, i found the tutorials in fact some made a PDF of them so i downloaded them to read and study as well as downloaded the 2600 SDK and current stella Vcs.h and Macros.h files Tiapainter 1.02. the instructions seem pretty straight forward (Even if it takes a ton of'em to do one thing ). thank you Cpuwiz,Thomas,Manuel you have been a great help and i really appreciate your patience and understanding. What i mean is, is there a program language that is used for microcode itself or is it just another way of entering opcodes to the 6502(7) Cpu ? and is there any examples of what it looks like ? sorry about all the strange questions but finding refrences to it are a pain, it's almost like a dead languge from long ago or somthing. Thanx for any info on this OA

Okay then what is QB ? Do you mean Q-Basic that M$ crap product ? Or is there another Atari game called "QB" ?. OA
-
well if it's like Qbert maybe you could have the wizards trying to manuver in to a position (kinda like a chess game) on the board where they are protected by a wall or somthing then use a fire ball with combat richochet affects to try and take out the other wizard whose defense can be teleporting to saftey but if it is random he might teleport in to the line of fire i know it sounds crazy but it might work, just a thought OA

Thomas, so a Windows Dev Environment is better then ?, I found more ram my total is now 128 MB but my hard diskis limited to 540 MB so would a min install of win 2000 pro fit in there with all the tools too ?. Thanks for taking the time to answer a lot of dumb questions Thomas. OA

Actually these carts you have are better left in thier original condition any tampering with them would result in them being worth less than they are now. but i can understand your wanting to make them look more like a traditional cart too but part of the fun in collecting is to preserve the diversity of carts and maintain an acurate record of thier original appearance. but hey i know where your comming from. OA

you could always take the binary images found on the web and convert them back to thier orginal form and use a tape recorder hooked up to your sound cards output to make a supercharger tape. just a random thought. OA

Who Owned An "Unpopular" System?
Old_Atarian replied to Tempest's topic in Classic Console Discussion
the most obscure system i ever owned was in 1985 and it was a laser 310 computer, before that was a Gemini (ATARI 2600 Clone) and then in 1986 i was all hung up on Color Computer 3 with the ADOS 3.1 upgrade, and after that i found by the curb an old intv 2 system and about 12 games and at the age of 18 (1998) sold them all for $100.00 even to a guy who had like 6 kids at the time game consoles in my hometown of lawrence kansas were not worth much and i considered myself lucky to have even gotten that much for them all together. now when i look back on those days i wish i had them all again. Escpecially the Gemini although not a "Real Atari" i would be able to play all the old games as well as purchase new carts !, man i am so Depressed now what a fool i have been. OA -
www.atariland.com also has a lot of 8bit and ST stuff (mostly games) just sign up and enjoy the downloads. OA
