  1. Yep, those should do although 128GB may be way more than you'll need but it is always good to have more than enough depending on how far deep the PSP rabbit hole you're going to go down.
  2. 6.38? That's unusual. The vast majority of PSPs are on 6.60. But there should be something for that firmware for softmodding. I believe that internet is no longer supported on the PSP but you don't need it for softmodding purposes. As I pointed out earlier, it is very easy to install the programs you need since the PSP is also a Memory Stick reader. But, before you start your softmodding journey, I highly recommend acquiring a Memory Stick to Micro SD card adapter as this will make things much easier and cheaper. Memory Sticks only went up to 32GB and they are very expensive. But you can do that and much higher and much cheaper with an adapter. As for dumping UMDs, you don't need a special dumper. Once you have the unit softmodded and the softmod activated there is a special "service menu" that is activated by the Select button. When you hook up the PSP to the PC it will only see what is on the Memory Stick, as per Sony's design. However, once you enter this special menu, you can select what you want the PC to see once you hook up the PSP and that includes the UMD drive. Select it, put a game in the PSP, and hook it up to the PC. You should now see what is in the UMD drive and you can copy the game to the PC. You need to rename the game once it is on the PC because they all use the same name on the UMDs. Once you have all of your games on the PC then unhook the unit from the PC, go back into the service menu, and re-select the Memory Stick. Put the unit back onto the PC and you should see the contents of the Stick once again. Create a new folder on the top layer called ISO (all caps) then dump your games into it. Unhook the PSP, reboot it, then restart the softmod (most softmods require that you start it manually when you turn on the unit). Go to your games and they should all be there ready to play.
  3. To be fair, this is the same on the Amiga version. But that version has the mouse controls that the Jag doesn't.
  4. If you haven't already done so I recommend softmodding it. This will allow you to put all of your games onto an MicroSD Card (you'll need a Memory Stick to MicroSD adapter) so you can carry your entire library with you without worrying about the discs and install some decent emulators on it. Softmodding it is very easy (I recommend Pro660) and is probably the easiest console to softmod (just copy a couple of files over to the PSP Memory Stick from your computer using the USB connector).
  5. Do they make one with an SD Card or Micro SD slot and store saves on that?
  6. If you have a PS3 and you haven't acquired the Special Editions of SoMI and MI2:LR, do it now. Last January they were de-listed from the PS Store and now they have been re-listed because of the new game. Don't know how long that'll last. I found out about the de-listing the hard way. I went to pre-pay for Hitman 3 and was going to use the extra money towards the Special Edition Bundle. It was still listed before the pre-pay but was de-listed when I went to acquire it. Not cool, but I have them now. I already acquired the X360 versions years ago. They should consider porting them over to the PS4, Xbone, and the Switch to take advantage of the new interest.
  7. Better yet, put on a DeLorean logo and it would improve it by 88%.
  8. At least it's just dust. Whether or not it still works is another matter.
  9. Having an option in-game to tweak the sensitivity will help in finding your "sweet spot" regardless of encoder. Besides, Minter added the encoder support at the last minute and didn't have time to smooth things out. It would be neat to go back in and finish the job so to speak.
  10. It has been awhile since somebody has blown the dust off of this topic. Now that the GameDrive Cartridge has been released and that there is a somewhat decent emulator out there I wonder if it is possible to patch the game ROM to add the ability to adjust sensitivity within the game which would allow for use of a wider range of encoders instead of just trying to find more specific ones. Perhaps an option to account between standard and optical types which may reduce or eliminate the need for a clean-up circuit thus making construction easier.
  11. I thought they already had a console: the iPhone.
  12. It'd be even better if you can make this work on a GameCube, Wii, and Wii U.
  13. Recently I just posted a photo essay of some of my gaming and movie related stuff, plus an event I was a part of that had Atari co-founder Nolan Bushnell as the guest of honor, over at imgur that some of you may get a kick out of.
  14. Not going to stop the modding but this will buy some time to find ways around things when they do finally get around to pulling the plug.
  15. The best way to keep this thing alive it to keep it as cool as possible. Considering the poor design choices Sony made with the early units this is harder than necessary. I'm sure someone has made a watercooler for it. I know Sony made a way to seal the chips to keep their liquid metal paste fresh on the PS5. I wonder if something like that can help on the PS3.
  16. The PS3 modding scene is going to ramp up quite a bit now as the modders try to find solutions to these various problems. I'm anxious to see what they come up with. I'm going to guess that Sony is also no longer going to do system updates for the PS3 after the shutdown. When somebody finally jailbreaks the last update then I would imagine the floodgates will open as Sony will no longer do anything to the system. Again, this is similar to what happened to the Nintendo Wii.
  17. I'm sure that people are already working on putting all of those titles and patches on the net for downloading just as it was done for the Nintendo Wii. I don't know much about PS3 softmodding right now but I hope there is one that will allow you to use those downloaded titles and patches without getting your machine and account banned by Sony when connected to their services. This also brings up the question if and when they will no longer allow you to hook up the PS3 to PSN for Trophy acquisition and upload. I don't think they'll shut that part down but, given this current situation, it is a fair question to ask.
