  1. Interesting. I haven't played it yet, just viewed the video, but it looks amazingly like Trailblazer.

Having played both, I personally think that the fact that this looks like Traiblazer is where the similarity ends. Yoomp is much more playable and I still can't stop playing it.

  2. I've just come across the game Yoomp (here). I am totally blown away and completely addicted to it. It's absolutely amazing to see that this level of games programming is still being produced for the A8. Well done to the authors.

If you haven't seen this game yet, click on the link above and check it out, you won't be disappointed.

  3. I've just played this latest release on Atari800MacX. Being a BIG fan of the original, I only have one thing to say...WELL DONE!! This is an awesome conversion. I am going to give this a thorough work out and I know, already, I am going to enjoy every minute of it.

  4. I have to concur with Star Raiders putting the Atari 8-bit computers "on the map" as far as gaming goes. Star Raiders was actually my first exposure to an Atari 800 back and I was enthralled with it (I was probably 8 or 9 at the time?) Several years later when I finally got my own computer (an Atari 800XL) I did play the hell out of Star Raiders, but I spent FAR more time playing the two Alternate Reality games as well as all the Lucas titles. And M.U.L.E. And Archon. And Bounty Bob Strikes Back. Damn, so many great Atari 8-bit games. :)

    ..Al

Archon was one of the reasons I went for the 800XL. But Star Raiders was definitely one of the first WOW! games I played.

  5. Unfortunately, since I moved house, my 800XL has been boxed up. I just don't have the room at the moment.

Before the move, I was using it for keeping track of my finances in Visicalc and a diary in various word processors (more latterly AtariWriter).

I would also code directly onto the 800XL, rather than emulators.

Now, I am relegated to using Atari800MacX, so I now use native mac apps.
