Like everyone said, fantastic job. I'm gonna have to dig my 800XL out tonight to try out the new features.

Interesting. I haven't played it yet, just viewed the video, but it looks amazingly like Trailblazer.
Having played both, I personally think that the fact that this looks like Traiblazer is where the similarity ends. Yoomp is much more playable and I still can't stop playing it.

I used to have this game back in the eighties. I must have sold it during my 'clear out' a few years back.
Does anyone have a manual they could scan for me?
-
Just spotted this on eBay. This is not my auction, but thought it might be interest to others here.

I missed the original thread. Came across Yoomp in atarimania.

I've just come across the game Yoomp (here). I am totally blown away and completely addicted to it. It's absolutely amazing to see that this level of games programming is still being produced for the A8. Well done to the authors.
If you haven't seen this game yet, click on the link above and check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Nice machines MEtalGuy66. Just wish I had the know how to perform mods on my A8.

If I'd known I could have backed a track by a major artist, I would have tried something like that years ago
You're right, it does sound a little like something produced from an A8
-
Isn't this kind of reminiscent of the MSX specification?
-
Universal Hero on the A8 was originally unbeatable due to a bug, although I am aware that 'fixed' versions are now available on the net.

Being a Mac user, if I need a quick Mac App, I use RealBASIC, but I do still use Atari BASIC to test out some ideas.

Following on from Carmel's thread http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=114837, I was wondering what A8 games would people like to see remade on a modern platform.
I for one, would like to see a modern Rescue On Fractalus, Koronis Rift.

I've just played this latest release on Atari800MacX. Being a BIG fan of the original, I only have one thing to say...WELL DONE!! This is an awesome conversion. I am going to give this a thorough work out and I know, already, I am going to enjoy every minute of it.

I have to concur with Star Raiders putting the Atari 8-bit computers "on the map" as far as gaming goes. Star Raiders was actually my first exposure to an Atari 800 back and I was enthralled with it (I was probably 8 or 9 at the time?) Several years later when I finally got my own computer (an Atari 800XL) I did play the hell out of Star Raiders, but I spent FAR more time playing the two Alternate Reality games as well as all the Lucas titles. And M.U.L.E. And Archon. And Bounty Bob Strikes Back. Damn, so many great Atari 8-bit games.
..Al
Archon was one of the reasons I went for the 800XL. But Star Raiders was definitely one of the first WOW! games I played.

I would have to say my most prized A8 possessions are some of the software that has been hard to find. Including AtariWriter, Visicalc and Kyan Pascal.
-
Unfortunately, since I moved house, my 800XL has been boxed up. I just don't have the room at the moment.
Before the move, I was using it for keeping track of my finances in Visicalc and a diary in various word processors (more latterly AtariWriter).
I would also code directly onto the 800XL, rather than emulators.
Now, I am relegated to using Atari800MacX, so I now use native mac apps.

Safari and IE for Mac work fine.
Do you still use IE on a Mac? Even Microsoft recommend Safari now

Metroid Prime is definitely the best 3D FPS I've played on the DS. The controls work perfectly with the DS, using the touch screen is far better than the analogue stick on a PS2 or XBOX.
Atari800MacX Version 3.8 release, now with XEP80 Emulation

Just noticed a slight problem with the new version.
If I use the right shift, it stays activated until I press the left shift. I think this might be something to do with the fix to the right meta keys.
