  1. The other advantage of using Sio2PC is that you preserve your original disks. I try to avoid using my originals once I have made an ATR from them.
  2. I have temporarily replaced the chat software on my site with a java/php solution. It's not ideal, and it won't be staying, but it should allow people to access the Wednesday chat without problems for now.
  3. Thanks kenfused, that's what I was after
  4. What I'm really after are the controls for the 800/XL/XE version. I can't even remember how to start the engines
  5. I remember playing Activisions Space Shuttle: A Journey Into Space back in the 80's. Unfortunately, I can no longer find the manual. Does anyone have a copy they could scan and mail me?
  6. I have the cartridge version of Rescue on Fractalus, but it doesn't mention whether it's PAL or NTSC. I used to have the tape version back in the 80's and I don't recall anything about PAL on that either.
  7. Well, I'm going to be laying off eBay for a while. I've spent way too much on there recently (according to my wife )
  8. Thanks for the link to the CIO libraries Cybernoid. I have created a format routine based on the open function, and it works. I am also in the process of creating a Get_Dir function and a File_Exists function. With these libraries, my program should be a lot more professional and robust. And thanks to Carsten for writing them
  9. Just wanted to say a big Thank You to Deathtrappomegranate for sending me a copy of AdventureWriter. It arrived this morning (my postie actually braved the snow on my mountain) and is fantastic. the manual is better than the one supplied with the Spectrum version of The Quill!!
  10. I'll have a look before next Wednesday. I may just replace the chat software with something else, this one seems to cause intermittent problems.
  11. Afraid I won't be in the chat tonight, taking Sally out for a drink. But please, feel free to use the chat room, help yourselves to drinks and snacks, but please tidy up before you leave.
  12. My hit counter has just counted the one thousandth unique IP address visiting my site
  13. Thanks for the support guys, I have nearly had 1,000 unique visitors to the site since I set it up!!!! I have also now got the final seven issues of Atari User, so I will be adding cover scans for them, and I will soon be completing the contents listings for all the magazines. Oh, and I changed the title of this thread as it's not really a new site anymore.
  14. I started out on a ZX Spectrum. I then moved on to an Oric Atmos, followed by my trusty 800XL. I still program on all three today. IMHO Sinclair Basic was the best of the three, however, the A8 was the more versatile if you were willing to put in the effort..
  15. I'll certainly be following your progress and nicking some ideas . I'm writing a similar db app in Quick to store my Atari collection and learn about coding for the Atari. I've just written some DOS routines (NOTE, POINT etc.) and some user input routines. Keep up the good work on your site I also have Quick, but I haven't had much of a look at it yet. Been concentrating on Kyan for A8 and Forth for other 8bit platforms.
  16. Just thought I'd give a quick update here. I have added some new books and a couple of new software packages. I have also updated the project log for the Finance project. I will be posting useful functions in this section as I write them, hopefully they might be of use to some people.
  17. Yep, good point. This is not really the place for the good old Mac vs Windows argument
  18. But what is Vista anyway? It's nothing but an imitation of MacOSX Tiger. Seriously, I have a G5 iMac, so no Vista on here for me, and it's faster than my wife's Core Duo PC.
  19. Did that a year ago. Best move I made regarding modern computers. Definitely the best answer though
  20. I'm trying to copy Cut & Paste so that I can share it with the community and also use backup disks rather than the originals.
  21. Tried Chipmunk and Black Patch....failed Can't find a copy of Super Archiver anywhere yet. I'm trying to get a copy of Cut & Paste done for my site. I'll try MyDos, see if that will do it.
  22. Back in the 80's, my tv displayed the atari screen dead centre. I only seem to have the problem now with modern tv's
  23. Does anyone know of an A8 disk copier that will copy just about anything?
  24. I think it's something to do with modern PAL tv's. All my 8 bits display to the left of the screen these days. If it was just one, I'd blame the computer, but as it's all 4, I'd have to conclude its the tv. I tried it out on another tv and I got the same result.
  25. I didn't realise there was a PC version!! I was aware of WinQuill, which is a relatively new version, it's written for Windows95.
