Lynx Power Circuit Upgrade/Repair - Better than 5V Mod
rj1307 replied to cowdog360's topic in Atari Lynx
I would do it for free, but shipping to Poland and back will cost a lot. If you can solder SMD components, I can send you the parts you need. All you had to do was take a photo of the motherboard. -
It's a 100% problem with the 5V modem, AgaCart controls the Power_On signal and probably the mod interferes with this signal.
-
Write me a private message and provide your address, I will send you a functional display because it is the cause of your problems.
-
The type of cartridge does not affect the operation of ComLynx, everything will be OK.
-
Please enter the number of the motherboard and the number on the display (or take pictures).

@Ben M, without 5V fashion details I can't say anything, what you are giving is general information and I would need a scheme of such a modification. @atariftw, the LCD mod has no effect on AgaCart, the problem is the power mod.
-
@Ben M Do you have a description of this 5V conversion? Does the 5V voltage disappear after turning off the power on pin 33 of the cartridge? Was the power_on signal on pin 31 of the cartridge modified?

@Jurgen I added you to the list before Warning! Poland has suspended shipments from China, there will be no PCBs or some elements I have material to produce a dozen or so pieces, I don't know how many will remain after completing orders from the current list because not all people respond to messages. So I assume that after a week without a response, the cartridge goes to the next person. When stocks last, the waiting time will be unknown

Gentlemen, all described damage indicates a problem with the Suzy chip. Based on experience with previously repaired consoles (about 40) I grouped the damage into four types: - power failure (console is dead) - memory corruption (console turns on, screen is black, memories are heating, there are waveforms on some signal buses) - processor damage (console turns on, memories are cold, no waveforms on signal buses). Interestingly, I never had a damaged Mikey chip, it was always Hayato. - Suzy damage (console turns on, no reading from the cartridge, graphics distortions, freezes) I omit, of course, mechanical damage, e.g. broken power sockets. I have never had any problems caused by capacitors, even if some were "spilled". I will refer to the types of memory, please remember that two types of chips housing, DIP and PLCC were used in Lynx II. Check it before ordering.

The next game or demo competition for Atari Lynx!

Igor has a bit different, more important things on his mind lately. -
I received several messages asking about the availability of cartridges. Due to the failure of the 3D printer (the driver of one of the engines has been damaged), shipping will resume in the second week of January, as per the list. Please wait for a message from me, all necessary information will be there. At the same time, I have good news for AgaCart owners, I will soon release a software update allowing at least double the speed of loading games, and several other changes

Here are all works from the competition: Lynx_SV2k19.zip -
I once bought here: http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/custom-i.htm

@Marss also had problems with the graphics in the console, I replaced Suzy and everything works fine. At 99% I confirm the diagnosis that Suzy is damaged.
-
With each cartridge. @Iwantgames:) I could fix your console, but the two-way shipment will be expensive
-
Did you check the VGA output?
-
Upload the file from the attachment to the SD card and attach the console, when the "P" goes off turn off the console and delete the file from the SD card. If there is still a problem with the games, turn on the record verification in the cartridge (this is described in the instructions) and check if "E" appears on the display. agacart.bin

Lawnmower by OCEO - Silly Venture 2019 entry for Atari Lynx Game Compo
rj1307 replied to Nop90's topic in Atari Lynx
I would like to clarify a few points about the presentation of this game. Silly Venture is a very specific party, where we try to launch the production on the original equipment as much as possible, releasing the film is the last resort. This is probably the only party where work is accepted until the last moment. Of course, we could set the deadline a few days before the compo, rip everything to the videos and release with one click from the laptop. But that wouldn't be SillyVenture. In response to the allegations of a colleague Marss: at the compo, we ask the authors to present their works to the public, in their absence we do it using text files that we always ask for. So I have a question, why Marss, being present at Silly Venture, refused to play his own game? Not only in Lawnmower, he also didn't play Burger Time for Jaguar. I do not understand this. Marss, you could play and talk about her even 10 minutes, but you didn't want to do it! Regarding the allegation that I did not press button A, this is not true. He asked for it right at the beginning of the game and I did it, I released the button only at obstacles. Please do not compare the game performance on the emulator and real equipment. At comps Marss asked to restart the game claiming that the animation with the Silly Venture logo did not start, which was not true, but I reset the game anyway. Of course, I am aware of the mistakes that I have made, I accept criticism of the way games are presented, and again I apologize for the shortcomings.
