  1. For the computer and drive I scrubbed it with soap and water, then scrubbed it with rubbing alcohol, then wipped it with fabreeze, and finally armor all wipes. Most of the smell is gone, but they are still yellowish. :(

I'm gonna try the baking soda trick for the books and see if that works for them. Good idea. I'm willing to try anything.

  2. Could someone explain to me the upgrade options for the Atari 810 and Atari 1050 disk drives and, if possible, how to identify these upgrades?

I have a crapload of drives and need to determine what has been upgraded. But have no clue what to look for.

    Thanks.

  3. My least favorite' date=' and probably the most popular one is...

'Selling as is. I got it at an estate sale and the guy said it worked the last time they used it."

    Or something to that effect.

    :lolblue:

Mine too. I fell for that once and only once. But really didn't pay much so it didn't matter. But the seller did rape me on shipping--but that is a different story. :ponder:

And speaking of shipping. How do these power sellers get away with selling a single game cart and charging 5-6 bucks for shipping? I won't by those ever because of the shipping rape.

  4. I had a similar problem recently and PayPal refunded my money. You need to file a form with PayPal, they contact the seller, if there is no response in 8 to 10 days, they take the money out of their account and refund you. That is assuming they have money in their PayPal account.

It may be too late for you since it is over 30 days. But you can try. I even called the seller after two weeks of no response and she said it was going to be shipped. Still, I received nothing after 30 days. Filed with PayPal and got the refund.

  5. I like this statement in your ad:

You will get NO cheesy lines from me ! No lines like 'I have no way of testing this' or '...but just a quick trip to Radio Shack...'

Can I use that one when I sell my stuff? ;)

I can't stand reading statements like: "I have no way of testing", "It worked when I put it away", "I have no switchbox", "It might just need a little cleaning", etc. Can you think of any others?

  6. Outside interference.

Since you have an 800, it has a monitor output.  Hook the 5-pin DIN cord to the TV's A/V plugs or use a VCR.  That will eliminate RF interference.

    I'll try that thanks.

Will any DIN plug do? I guess Radio Shack would have something like that .

  7. Everything is spoken for.

Geez...all you gotta do to unload items is mention the word "dumpster."  Four days ago I got no response for these items. :D :)

    Voch

Lol, I heard dumpster and thought CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP. Too bad it was sold already.

  8. I know that feeling also. Bought an atari 800 with an 810, the communicator, and all kinds of other stuff with it. The seller taped the original Atari boxes together, completely I may add, with the priority mail tape. And when I say completely, I mean it. It took me over 30 minutes to untape the boxes--I was trying to salvage them the best I could. In the end, I ended up ripping off many of the box pictures. Kind of sucked. But I got a nice, perfectly working, lot for 20 bucks, so I did not complain.

  9. What age group were these games geared towards?
Yeah, I'd like to know that also. My kid is two and loves them, but he needs help playing. He plays these games for about a half hour at a time. That is good for a two-year-old.

  10. Thanks for the overlay.

It's funny, I have a two year old, and as I have been testing all the games I get, he climbs up on the chair next to me and wants to play them. So far his favorate games are the Moon Patrol for the 800xl and Lock N Chase for the 2600. My wife is not happy with me. :lolblue:
