Wouldn't it be great if we could have a thread about this critical subject, that directly affects the entire planet, that has social and political implications, without it getting closed because the mods are cowards who let their politics guide their decision making?

Wouldn't it be great if people could talk about this subject without overtly politicizing it?  That sure would be something.  Or you could just be a coward about it and complain about moderation in status updates.

The COVID-19 threads were locked because each and every one devolved into political bickering, conspiracy theories, fearmongering, and potentially harmful misinformation.  I know this is a topic that is on everyone's minds right now, but a small handful of people have ruined the discussion for everyone else because they can't follow the rules.
