If Atari made a new console, what would it be called?
Spriggy replied to magikarpow's topic in Atari 2600
The Atari IMAGINAIRE. -
Sorry ... Double post.

... and they'll use their same modis operandi to find the cheapest way to protect the identities of said uber secret partners.

Hmm .. interesting. I expected this to follow in the stinky boots of the Acheesebox ... and be drawn out a bit longer. Also, a quick link for those new to the thread, outlining general Ataco investor information, business hierarchy and press releases. Here ... ATARI Investisseurs.

In the end, no need for the imaginary Atacobox. Nostalgic classic era gaming is, generally, already completely covered imo. People playing old consoles (modded in some cases for the modern era) with original games. Great carts like the 2600 Harmony or Genesis Everdrive that can hold entire game system libraries for original consoles. Modern built consoles, like the Retron 77 (2600), that play original game formats (carts in this case). Etc ...... Software Emulation running on PCs or mini systems like the Raspberry Pi, with fantastic frontends and interfaces, with the ability to use both original and modern joysticks/paddles/gamepads etc. Then you have the amazing Homebrew game designers, many or most appearing on AA, stretching the old hardware to the max with mind-blowing games, that play on the original systems ... with Albert and his team members supporting said designers in getting their games released to the public. "A fan somewhere, working out of their garage" persay. The "new generation" will only gravitate to these old beasts because they played Dads old Atari or PS1 when they were young, attempt to understand the nostalgia of the old systems or just curiosity. Forget about targeting the new generation for these old systems, as a whole. The only way I see Atari having any chance in high hell becoming king shit again, is to develop a modern console to compete with the modern Sony, Microsoft & Nintendo systems. And this isn't going to happen whilst the current Atarigogo chimps are piloting the SS Minnow straight to Gilligan's Island! In fact, the brand is so badly damaged, I don't think it will ever get the backing for something like this to happen. Now I need a beer..... with some old ladies.

And more comments from BH. He's like JPs padawan! I think Nutari need to seriously think about developing their own Babelfish .. or at least out source it so it actually gets made ..... possibly ..... maybe!

Welcome to the Atacobox Shit Show. Knocking on 700 deep! "Stay a while. Stayyyyy Foreverrrr!"
-
It seems so. He trundles into AA like king shit, sprouting about owning one of the rarest games in the known universe. Gets schooled by AA troops in the know. Doesn't like the rebuttal. Makes up a baloney story about selling it for big $$$ ... flashes his monopoly money and says "see ... I told you so. I was right!"

Atari Inc. (Warner Communications) Copy of Stargate?
Spriggy replied to AtariKid81's topic in Atari 2600
The 1984 release Stargate carts appear to have "Atari Inc". '85 and onward appear to use the "Atari Corp". Atari Corp was founded July 1984, so makes sense. http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-2600-vcs-stargate_7497.html On the Atarimania scans in the link above, the warranty card also shows "Atari Corp", as you described. So I'd say pretty common.
