That it still works
+1
And expanding on that .. of all my 192 unique 2600 eggs, every single one works. I have not bought a single cart that didn't work. I would say about 40-50% needed a clean to get them working when purchased. That's surprising imo!

Mines of Minos is another really fun game, once you understand how to play it, though it's REALLY hard to get anywhere, even on the easier variations.
I thought of that right after I posted, but didn't bother editing. 1 god damn life!!!!
The epitome of challenging. -
River Raid II: The first one deservedly gets tons of press, but the sequel is just as good, though it's got more of a learning curve. Tons of targets, a lot of variety, and tough as nails. What's not to like?
+1. Absolutely

Thanks Lid. Only just pipped you. We're about 12 hours ahead down here in Western Australia. I went to bed this morning, after nightshift, fully expecting to wake up and find my time trounced by you!

Well done and good luck to all remaining

I use craft shop aerosol spray glue. I mask of the entire cart, except label area, with painters tape and then lightly sptay the required areas.

I like the idea of Non-Activision and Homebrew patches. Especially No-Acto. That way, there is no confusion. Plenty of legendary Non-Acto games that have a viable difficulty level and relevant playablitiy to suit.
Eg. Turmoil, Pole Position, Millipede, Defender/Stargate, Ms.Pac, Wizard Of War, Gravitar, Mouse Trap, Dragonfire, Q*bert .. and so on.
Obviously game selection is important. Eg Gravitar is a perfect choice based on its difficulty and parameters imo, however this has also caused it to be loved and hated for the same reasons. However, imo, games like Pole Position, Millipede, Defender/Stargate, Q*bert are iconic and probably a more solid choice. Still nice to throw in some gr8 players that maybe not everyone knew about bitd. The AA Top 100 / Atarimania Top 100 and 2600 HSC would be your best mates.

But what do I know??

Good luck.

If I may steal your formatting KaeruYojimbo' ...

Favorite games:
Beamrider - Gr8 game. Excellent replay value.
Taz - Smashed Asterix bitd and still love it 2day. Hence Taz was a no brainer. Pity I didn't have the cart or a cx40 adapter at the time of playing this gem on Week 15. Got both now though!

Surprising games:
River Raid II - Never played RRII ever, that was until Week 7. Pleasantly surprised .. after reading the manual that is! Challenging. Loved it. Went and got the cart because of HSC!
Dark Cavern - Another game I've never played. I enjoyed the strategies and pre-emptive playing style required. Fun.
Worst games:
Space Jockey- #killmenow
Red Sea Crossing - #yawn

Dragonfire is awesome for sure, it was a game that I played a lot before I liquidated my old Atari collection a while back. I can't think of any other games that let you play as a human drug addict who breaks into innocent dragons' homes to steal their valuables, which he then pawns to buy methamphetamines between levels. They may not talk about all that in the instruction manual but there's not really that many ways to explain how much faster your character starts moving after each successful burglary.
Touche!

... and I also picked up a couple neat games while I was in the store since they so kindly hooked me up with the Justifier light gun for free.

Obtained, probably, my personal 2600 Holy Grail. Asterix. Had it bitd when it was 1st released. Loved it then .. love it now. Gr8 old memories having sessions on this baby. The prices of these on fleebay are stupid imo, hence have been waiting and lurking. Scored a nice one at a good price from Italy. Game on!

I have over 200 2600 games and it is now starting t get to that point for me. I know there are 100's more and I will never get them all, but I keep seeing the same $1 games over and over.
Likewise. I'm a few off 200. I'd say around 160-170 was my threshold. I've been using the AA top 100 as the main player guide, as well as favs from bitd, and of course lubetube reviews. Also playing in the HSC reveals some personal gems. That allowed me to have a bigger want list.

... and more eggs for the Atari nest, that I don't have. Happy to get Seahawk to complete the only 3 John Sands Electronics games. I'm usually a cart only collector, but always nice to get a few cheap clean CIB for display.
