  1. You'll find that is a problem with a great many TI application cartridges.

Do a search on "date repeat years" and you'll find the best compatible year to chose instead of 2017.

I kinda love it... I've actually loadeda cart or two to demonstrate to doubtful youg-uns that the Y2K bug really did exist!

I had to explain to my kids what Y2K was- 'it was a dark time, my children- those were dark days indeed.' lol

  2. I thought you guys would get a kick out of this- I booted up my 'Weight Control and Nutrition' cart just to see if it works/mess around with it, only to find that I cannot enter the number 17 as a year field. ;-)

I couldn't catch it in between blinks, but there's a question mark where the '7' goes and the TI goes 'boop' (thanks Tursi for defining the sound!) when you try to.

    C'mon, TI!

  3. OK, I give up waiting for someone else...

Locally I guess we could call the game 967-11-11 - the jingle from advertising for a Canadian restaurant chain called "PizzaPizza" (non-Canadian readers probably recognize the name from the boards at NHL/NLL games, since they are a major sports sponsor)

The name of the game (without the duplex error) is simply "Pizza"

Thank you to sparkdrummer and Tursi who helped me to (finally) figure out the controls (I think I was miffed by the fact that you don't run down the counter (as you mentioned as well Tursi) so I was looking for something more complicated.

Lay the new game on us, sir!

  4. Hey sometimes99er, I also did it that way until I found the Gamebase Frontend. Just install the frontend, then extract the 'TI99-Gamebase' files

(the entire folder) into the frontend folder (C:\Gamebase\TI99-4Av2). Then you have a full list of all games and the screenshots to go with them. Really nice

I've been messing with the front end a little this evening. pretty interesting!

  5.

Just to be technical, that good sound is a "beep", while the bad key sound is a "boop". ;)

    * my terms only, I'm not dictating to the universe, disclaimer etc.

It's been a long time since I've run Classic99 over a remote desktop of any sort ;)

mwhahaha, i'm glad i know the technical terms now! I think the bad key sound would be more like a 'BONG' or 'EEEECH' ;)

  6. Edit: Yes! It does work. I think my remote software was the culprit. It boots AND launches Alpiner.

Yup, I do have audio on. :) Here's the steps I'm using:

    1) Launch classic99.exe

    2) Get splash screen and boop. yay!

    3) I went to Cartridge -> Games -> Alpiner, then the emulator resets back to splash (of course). Boop!

    4) I press 'enter' to go to the menu screen, where it's the '1 for Basic, 2 for English, etc'.

    5) When I press the '2' for English, it doesn't launch the program.

I am remoted into this machine via LanDesk, so that might account for the keyboard weirdness.

  7. The one potential issue is I couldn't test on a non-Win10 machine -- so if anyone can try it on XP or 7, please let me know if it starts. ;)

I have a Win7 machine on bench here at work. Give me a few to download it and I'll let you know.

Edit to add: I can launch the app on my Win7 machine, but when I load a cartridge and try to press '2' to launch it, it won't let me. Key presses after you go past the 'boot' screen don't do anything. :)

  8. I hadn't considered arrays, but I was matching variable name to the values (like HHAS for 'A Sharp 2 octaves above middle C' or EF 'E Flat above Middle C'.

I had forgotten, too, that you can use double colons to separate them without a variable/note for each line. another thing I had been doing is using REM statements to mark measures/bars so i could read and troubleshoot it better.

that's really cool! I'll look at that with the next program i'm working on.
