  1. yup, this is what we are thinking and in the process of doing.
  2. Kind of a noob question, but we've had some wiring issues in the house that I am currently working on having repaired (one of the outlets went *kaput* and is only reading 20v from the outlet)- We have an 80-odd year old farm house that was definitely not designed with modern electronics in mind. In the meantime, I've disconnected my 4A console, PEB, Tape Recorder, and el cheapo 19" flat panel tv from the their wall outlets because I was concerned that the variations in the voltage would wreck the stuff (plus I didn't want to put any additional load on the existing wiring in the room). So my question is this: Can someone direct me towards some resources so that I can determine exactly how much power (US) a 4A and PEB require? Thanks in advance!
  3. something like this- https://s3.amazonaws.com/media.sheetmusicdirect.com/images/web/smd_106859_felix_mendelssohn_the_hebrides_overture_op26_web.png will get you started in the right direction. If I may make a suggestion... look for 'easy' or 'medium' arranged piano pieces. They'll be much easier to work with (plus generally piano tuned to 'C' so it's easier to program)
  4. of course! Torrax is next up for the game.
  5. I played the Infocom stuff in earnest when they rereleased as 'The Lost Treasures of Infocom' volumes 1 and 2- I still have the hintbooks i think somewhere. You can play Zork online if you're so inclined at http://textadventures.co.uk/games/view/5zyoqrsugeopel3ffhz_vq/zork.
  6. i turned the difficulty down a little on this one.
  7. aha! Sparkdrummer's Challenge: Rescue At AtariAge
  8. i have the game for Steam and on my phone- it's cool but ragingly hard (for me). I agree with @adamantyr, i think the premise is doable.
  9. That's really cool! So what are your favorite Infocom and Scott Adams games? My personal favorites are 'The Lurking Horror' and 'Planetfall' for Infocom and for Scott Adams 'The Count' and 'Mystery Fun House'.
  10. pricy, but i notice this auction has a super sketch and an MBX as well tho. 'Starter Kit'? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Texas-Instruments-TI-99-4a-Computer-System-w-EXTRAS-GAMES-FREE-SHIPPING-/152616068357?hash=item2388a06505:g:c6IAAOSwbtVZVubS
  11. i saw that! i see it's a 'local pickup only'- it'd be a you-know-what to ship, and probably 99% the shipping company (UPS/etc) would roll it around in their truck prior to arrival. Pretty neat, but I think I'll stick with my $99 Walmart special tv.
  12. I had to explain to my kids what Y2K was- 'it was a dark time, my children- those were dark days indeed.' lol
  13. that sounds fun! like i'd need an excuse to use my TI. Maybe I'll finish some Adventure games!
  14. I just thought it was funny I figure if i really wanted to mess with it i'll do something similar to what you suggest!
  15. hmm, this is a tricky one. I will have to see if I can figure it out! (but of course, if someone beats me to it, that's cool too!)
  16. I thought you guys would get a kick out of this- I booted up my 'Weight Control and Nutrition' cart just to see if it works/mess around with it, only to find that I cannot enter the number 17 as a year field. I couldn't catch it in between blinks, but there's a question mark where the '7' goes and the TI goes 'boop' (thanks Tursi for defining the sound!) when you try to. C'mon, TI!
  17. I saw this- is this close to what you are looking for? http://atariage.com/forums/topic/259662-speech-synthesizer-modifications-audioin-and-5vdc-pass-through/?
  18. ooh i know this one- but i won't hog the glory! I'll wait if anyone else comes up with the title.
  19. Lay the new game on us, sir!
  20. aha! it is on gamebase. that is great!
  21. I was gonna say.. I know the original game, but I'm stumped for the TI version!
  22. i use the 'attach file' feature as well. i don't upload a ton of stuff and usually the content is fluffy, so storing temporarily on my hard drive and uploading works great for me.
  23. I haven't dusted off the disks in a month or so, but my kiddos (11 and 12) really enjoyed Pennies & Prizes- I haven't gone through all the other TOD modules i have on disk recently.
  24. Spark is correct! Your turn.
