I've been messing with the front end a little this evening. pretty interesting!

There's a Sneggit joke here, I'm sure.

my mistake. i'm way too guilty of 'skimming' posts!

that's surprising- i've bought from that seller several times before and usually his prices are pretty reasonable.

mwhahaha, i'm glad i know the technical terms now! I think the bad key sound would be more like a 'BONG' or 'EEEECH'

Edit: Yes! It does work. I think my remote software was the culprit. It boots AND launches Alpiner. Yup, I do have audio on. Here's the steps I'm using: 1) Launch classic99.exe 2) Get splash screen and boop. yay! 3) I went to Cartridge -> Games -> Alpiner, then the emulator resets back to splash (of course). Boop! 4) I press 'enter' to go to the menu screen, where it's the '1 for Basic, 2 for English, etc'. 5) When I press the '2' for English, it doesn't launch the program. I am remoted into this machine via LanDesk, so that might account for the keyboard weirdness.

I have a Win7 machine on bench here at work. Give me a few to download it and I'll let you know. Edit to add: I can launch the app on my Win7 machine, but when I load a cartridge and try to press '2' to launch it, it won't let me. Key presses after you go past the 'boot' screen don't do anything.

I hadn't considered arrays, but I was matching variable name to the values (like HHAS for 'A Sharp 2 octaves above middle C' or EF 'E Flat above Middle C'. I had forgotten, too, that you can use double colons to separate them without a variable/note for each line. another thing I had been doing is using REM statements to mark measures/bars so i could read and troubleshoot it better. that's really cool! I'll look at that with the next program i'm working on.

my scope is pretty darn limited, compared to probably what a lot of folks have done on the board- but the majority of my experience with music programs has been with TI Extended Basic. I am currently working on a music demo right now that I'm hoping to use sprites in (so I'm still learning this piece of it). You can find a list of frequencies in the EB manual, and what i've done is assign variables to the frequencies based on the notes and then i use Call Sound statements with the variables (the notes taken from the sheet music). One thing I had considered was making a subprogram of the note variables to eliminate entering them in over and over since when i am messing with the TI i tend to use the computer itself and not emulators, even though emulators would be a WAY faster way to develop and test your stuff. I also have code to calculate half-frequencies, where applicable. I have Music Maker, and it reminds me of using the Mario Paint cart on the SNES.

here's a pdf of the EP-1 manual, but not sure if it is specifically what you need. EP1.PDF -

programming resources for TI XB graphics/sprites

Thanks! -
Indeed it is. My dad and I spent HOURS on the C64 version.

Apologies if this has been covered a bazillion times in the forum, but I couldn't find anything readily after doing some perfunctory searching. What are some links to resources for designing sprites/graphics for TI Extended Basic demos? I'm needing help specifically with defining the 'blocks' like if I used graph paper and the hex code required for CALL CHARs/etc. I have the TI EB manual handy plus some other paper resources, but between that and deconstructing my dad's stuff I'm trying to figure out *how* he did it and *why*. The ultimate goal would be to produce a music demo based on sheet music- I know the 'music' piece of it cold but I'm having a little trouble trying to combine that with the graphics. Thanks in advance! Nathan

What is it about Canada that made the TIers migrate? -

I had only completed the 'black' levels, but that was ages and ages ago- and i had memorized the maps. PeBo had shared this with me so if you are so inclined: http://www.vintagecomputing.com/index.php/archives/85/the-mazes-of-shamus -

when i was dinking with the game here recently, i found it kind of difficult to use the TI joysticks to shoot diagonally (you can too, but it's super awkward). This may be the month where I'm compelled to get an adapter and maybe a Slik Stick or an Epyx joystick, haha. As an aside, I didn't play this game on the TI the first time around, our copy was on the C64- I absolutely LOVE the Synapse games. -
