53 minutes ago, CatPix said:I was thinking console since most chatting here is usually about consoles. Also the generation talk is more important in consoles than in PC.
I agree that the motion controls in BOTW are bad in puzzles, I assume because they ad to account for the Wiimote and Mablette (Wii U version) and the Joy-con and gamepad Pro (Switch). I was specifically talking about aiming, not puzzles.
PC and console are different breeds, there aren't really "generation" in PC gaming and I always found that PC gamers around me, even those that don't define themselves as retrogamers, are much more susceptible to play older games than console gamers.
Mostly because PC Gaming have a more smoothed out progression gameplay and graphics wise, and also because you can usually play more games on your current PC where console gaming require to own different systems or hope your game is compatible with the next gen. Or you pay to get your game again in virtual console form.
did i complain about this yet? I don't remember, lol.
The BotW puzzles where you're using motion controls to manipulate the ball in three dimensions drove me nuts- a couple of them I had to have my son do. I remembered playing those labryinth-type puzzles as a kid and it just makes me think of those.

gosh, i'm just not sure. some days i tell the Boss 'we should get an XBox Series X' and some days I'm like 'our XBox One S is perfectly fine'.
i think $400-$500 is about what I'd expect the next wave of consoles to cost- if it were much higher than 5, no way in heck we would. Mrs. Digdug's gaming rig would just get replaced outright at that point, lol.

@Flojomojo Does the AA forum on my phones browser count? 😂
I don't know that I've played a mobile game in a long time- my Switch is partly (TOTALLY) to blame.

Anchovy moved in today, guessing they allow one per day perhaps so one of the other two maybe there tomorrow.
I got the ability to customize furniture, so I did a nice dark wood furniture set for my place so it looked less random. I really don't like that DOM ram/sheep thing in my town, total muscle head twit with his talking and lingo so I'm tempted to drive him out. I figured out the timing and location to snap up wasps in the game yesterday but I don't think they pay as much as they used to. And I learned having on shades covers up bug bite eyes too. Ended up bumping into Harv, don't quite get his photo thing but I don't think I'll end up bothering unless there's a quality reward in it anyway.
What's the difference in the basic starter DIY station and the more constructed MINI one that ends up craftable? It's it for looks or is there a value to bothering with it?
Harv creeps me out! I went to his island to check it out but i hightailed it before i woke up in a bathtub filled with ice or chained to a radiator, lol. I don't think there's a difference between the two workstations other than aesthetics- I created the Mini one simply because I liked the way it looked better.
i haven't managed to catch a wasp yet except in the face- i just keep meds on hand and don't even bother running anymore if i'm on a Nook Island.
i have an irritating villager as well- it's this monkey named Shari (I think). She doesn't wake up till like 9:30am and is like super hateful to everyone on the island. She's going to get the boot soon!
I looked up some guidelines on how to kick someone out so i'll be working on that soon.

I think Vita's is the most responsive/usable that I've seen but the layout sucks. 3DS is about the same but maybe not quite as good. I forgot how the Wii's was and it's gone now so nobody can check. I think I remember the Wii U being mostly decent, but it's been a while.
I was dumb and meant to multi-quote. My grievances with the Switch eshop go far beyond the scope of this thread.
I agree.

ok, i see what you mean. I do think, tho, getting people to buy MORE games other than what's packed in will be dependent on how big a pain in the ass their eshop is.

Speaking of Half-Life, if you'd asked me in 2000 what I thought gaming would be like in 2020, Half-Life: Alyx probably comes the closest to whatever I might have said.
I created my Steam account about the same time I bought The Orange Box- pretty crafty on Valve's part! lol
Veering off, its hard to believe as well that WoW has been around for 16 years. I guess the older you get, the more time distorts.

In general, the store fronts I've used (Switch, XBox, etc) are all tedious and aggravating, especially the MS one for the XBox. You'd think that clicking on tiles would be an easy proposition.
I think a good storefront UI would go a long way for user acceptance in a new console.

Just add enough surface gloss to an old familiar face and name, and it's as if many people see only what they want to see. Especially when the loudest cheerleaders (often with a profit motive) only want happy thoughts and good news.
Can't wait.

You'll be able to re-locate your house later on in the game. But nook will make you his slave for it..
Uh I mean charge for it.
Gulliver will periodically show up. The guy gets lost a lot!
Ha, I've seen him twice! I commented to my wife that I think his crewmates are losing him on purpose. On one of the evenings i played I ran into Wisp as well- that was neat.
For what it's worth, when you're far enough along (or if you're obsessively clear cutting Nook Mile Islands), you'll have more wood and iron than you know what to do with in the beginning of the game.

i figured out after seeing something online that if you have Nook's Cranny you don't have to take the 20% penalty if you sell stuff before they open.
(My gameplay starts at 5am CT most days until I login to the office.) You can't sell the stuff, but you can sure as heck drop them in front of the store! I did that for a metric crapton of bugs/fish/fossils and made 30k bells for my trouble after 8am.
i have one islander remaining to move in, but humming along.

slightly off-topic, but it's reported that NoA is not sending any Switches out that are in their repair depots as well until they have workers return to them.

I was just offering an alternative solution to the persons problem. Maybe next time I should tell him to have you play it for him.
oh now, i hardly think they were intending to be offensive. Go fish some when you have the time-

netops/secops here, im WFH but it's hardly a vacation. longer hours enabling folks to telework that don't plan well, and making sure our network doesn't buckle under the mass of humanity.

I never would have expected to settle my mind enough to make time for Animal Crossing, yet here we are.

Well, the Xbox 360 came out in 2005, FIFTEEN YEARS AGO
And to think that FIFTEEN YEARS BEFORE THAT, the Sega Genesis was just hitting its stride.
Have we hit a plateau of gaming, or what?
so that'd be 2035- i fully expect by then the planet will be run by damn dirty apes and we'll be eating meals in pill form, right?
Unless we end up with some holodeck-level stuff, i feel like we're going to see incremental upgrades to what's already out there- but i am hardly a prognosticator.

one of my co-workers had to go to three stores in his area (he lives in Michigan) to find one.
I would say a lot of the issues probably lie with supply-chain- hopefully in six months or so things will even out.

my wife time travels more than Dr Who.
So far, we haven't seen Resetti in the game.
I'm up to where I'm building a bridge, have my ladder, and am building houses for new residents.

i wish i could say that i had MORE time to play, but i dont. that combined with Animal Crossing's release has really put a dent into Classic Gaming.
