  1. ha! i've got several games on the Switch like that now.
  2. Streets of Rage 2 is one that I play a lot as well, though sometimes it gets edged out by Final Fight. The graphics, music, and control make it my favorite of the 3 original SoR games. I guess one could make the argument that games like Rastan and Altered Beast are side-scrolling beat-em-ups, but where is the distinction drawn between platformer and beat-em-up? (i'm just thinking out loud rhetorically-like). The presence of *platforms* probably makes it more of a platformer than a beat-em-up, huh. lol
  3. A mobile version of paper.io has over 300,000 monthly active users. How will Amico gather stats to get feedback on what people like?
  4. i keep intending to pick this up but get distracted with other games instead. Darn you, other games! /shake fist
  5. I've got a soft spot for the Capcom beat-em-ups too, particularly Final Fight; I still play the game a lot now. I always turn up the volume after the car-smash minigame because my wife and I laugh like crazy after- 'Oh, my car!' I wish the arcade port let you pick between that and the SNES 'Oh, my God!' line, though. hehe
  6. May the Lord have mercy on your gas sniffin' orphan-beatin' soul!

  7. Excellent! I look forward to seeing what you pick.
  8. Thanks! I usually give a breakdown but was just too tired this week to provide anything of real use. Moonlighter is a pretty niche-y title, though it satisfies several itches depending on the kind of game you like. At its heart, there are two main cycles of game play: 1) Going to the dungeon-crawling to get loot and 2) Selling your loot in your store. There's a 'story' of sorts, but it's largely lost I feel in the cycles of the gameplay. It's compelling to me because of the grind involved; there's just enough difficulty that you have to upgrade your gear (which means more dungeon-crawling and more selling stuff, because you have to have mats to build the stuff and its EXPENSIVE to upgrade your gear), and there's grinding a bit because you have to upgrade your shop to make the most efficient work of your dungeon-crawling (which means.. more dungeon-crawling and more selling stuff). I guess, too, if you want to imagine what it's like to be an NPC in an RPG it'd be pretty apt!
  9. I caught Moonlighter on sale for the Switch so I, of course, got sucked into it and didn't play really any other Modern game. Switch: Moonlighter -- 1340 minutes
  10. Final Fight (Arcade) Moonlighter (Switch) Street Fighter Alpha (Arcade)
  11. mixing it up a bit. Arcade: Final Fight -- 42 mins Street Fighter Alpha -- 67 mins NES: Double Dragon -- 27 minutes River City Ransom -- 15 minutes
  12. i'll agree with that! I'm not sure where my savegame is at time-wise, but I'm pretty sure it's 140+ hours. It's a fantastic game.
  13. anecdotal, again, but at least one store in the Springfield MO area has reduced their business hours to 11am-8pm. The other stores now close at 8pm as well, I'm pretty sure.
  14. looks like they'll be at some esports show thingy in NYC this weekend with 'two fully playable and ready-for-action VCS'.
  15. This one came as an unexpected surprise last night- Dead Cells (Switch) - after apparently 100 runs, i managed to finish the game and get my first Boss Cell. I consider this a pretty decent accomplishment for me!
  16. Street Fighter Alpha (arcade) -- I dusted this one off again and finished with Ken then Sagat. For some reason no one at the house will play SF with me, lol.
  17. I mentioned this on the Tracker thread, but I really liked it too. One of the only places I had trouble with initially was with the Slug Vacuum- sucking them up versus obliterating them, lol.
  18. Switch: Lego: Jurassic World -- 430 minutes Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle -- 424 minutes Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch -- 1707 minutes I beat it, I beat it! Finally finished Ni No Kuni yesterday afternoon after having it hurt my feelings before lunch. I was at the final boss with probably 5% health but ran out of MP, then got smacked down pretty hard. I ended up grinding off and on after lunch then finally finished the darn thing. I spent some time last night poking around post-game Bounties and side quests. Plodding along with my other games, nothing much to say on them.
  19. I have Yoku for the Switch- it's a pretty fantastic game. Some of the parts were a little tricky for me till I got the hang of them, but overall I enjoyed it.
  20. weird to think that the Dreamcast falls in the 'Classic Games' tracker category, hehe. For all its warts, though, I still have a soft spot for the Saturn.
  21. A couple of games on the Classic tracker this past week! NES: Double Dragon -- 128 minutes River City Ransom -- 150 minutes I spent some time reacquainting myself with these games- some of the glitches you can use in Double Dragon are pretty funny.
  22. Double Dragon (NES) - I played through Double Dragon this weekend- it's as short as I remember when I played it way back when. I love that Double Dragon has a couple of funny glitches you can exploit (like not having to fight the second boss at all), plus it's just a fun game for me.
