  1. Frederic (Switch) - what a strange game this is- it's a rhythm game that has music based on the works of Chopin, where he's resurrected to save music (or something). it's a crazy short game at about an hour, which covers 12 of Chopin's pieces that are remade for the game. i think if anything, the one thing that keeps this game from being a knockout would be the ability to play the original pieces- even as a bonus for finishing the game. Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (Switch) - finally finished this today after a hair over 68 hours of gameplay. I got waaayyy close before lunch but was smacked down by the last boss when they had about 5% health. Fantastic game beginning to end! Lego Jurassic World - Lost World (Switch) - I changed the title of the game to reflect the correct title. I played through the second movie last week and finished off Friday night. On to Jurassic Park 3!
  2. ha, our friend atariartist posts a link to his newest 'magazine' on the VCS Official subreddit, gets called out for being a troll, then already deletes his comment.
  3. oh, well, i stand corrected! thank you for sharing with me your vast intellect of the truth.
  4. Honestly, when I played through Sword I really didn't grind all that much- as long as you've got a team that's about the same level as who you're fighting and you have Pokemon that are strong to what you're going up against you won't have a problem just playing through the game (even at the end).
  5. ive been on the fence about the SNES controller, but honestly I'd have to spend more time playing the SNES games first.
  6. Can you please keep that Amico nonsense out of this thread? Plzkthx
  7. ah, ya got me. it's $20 for single, but we subbed to the 'family' plan for $35.
  8. Throw Ducktales Remastered in that list too, also put out by WayForward. I absolutely cannot wait for a release date reveal.
  9. XBox has two similar offerings- one's called 'Game Pass' where you pay a monthly fee for basically unlimited rented games, and then 'Games with Gold' (I think it's called) where you get free games for being a member of their Gold program (which is required for a lot of MP-type stuff anyway). With GwG as long as you download their monthly offering of games you have the games forever even if you don't sub anymore- I haven't subbed in probably 2 years and I still have all the games I got through the program. GamePass, again, is sort of like Netflix in that while you get to play the game, once MS decides to change it out you're subject to what they have. To your comment on servers being shut down, I don't know the specifics on de-listed games or games offered through PS+, but I do have several games that were delisted installed on my XBox hard drive that are very much playable. It's no different, really, than using Steam on the PC. Anyway, to bring this back to the Switch- if you don't see the value in Nintendo's Switch Online offerings it's as simple as not subscribing. Will some people find value in paying $35 a year for NES/SNES roms that you can emulate? Probably not, but there will still be folks that do. Will some people find value in paying $35 a year for cloud saves, even though that not all titles are covered? Probably not, but there will still be folks that do. I don't feel like Nintendo would monetize it if the Business didn't think there'd be money in it for them. Incidentally, a good number of Switch save games (and of course there's exceptions) are saved on the MicroSD card, likewise for games downloaded from their E-Shop. I've upgraded 3 Switch SD cards in our house by copying the folder to my computer desktop then throwing it up on a bigger card.
  10. Yes, in a way, MS/Rare did with the 'Rare Replay' compilation.
  11. This guys posts some real wackadoodle stuff on Reddit under the username 'Atariartist'.
  12. welcome! the timing was coincedental but pretty cool, hehe. i figured it was going to a good home.
  13. i guess there's stuff like 'Bit Trip Runner', too-
  14. Microsurgeon! Microsurgeon! hehehe 😂 i can't think of a specific named title that they wouldn't have to license, but what about board-type games like a war game or chess? (although I realized just now the juxtaposition of war game and chess is pretty funny) Turn-based tactical or strategy games would be cool too. Thinking on the Imagic titles, was Demon Attack mentioned? There could be some pretty cool modern things done with that.
  15. oh come on, @Flojomojo- why do you have to link stuff like this? 😪😂 those look pretty neat.

if this was asked, my apologies if i didn't see it in the thread. are there plans to make a cart/purchasable image of your Chess project?
  17. maybe it's early and i'm extraordinarily grouchy, but it amuses the heck out me how the backers make impassioned pleas to Atari on the IGG page like they're good friends and that Atari gives two craps about them. THEY GOT YOUR MONEY! (now shut up and wait like the good little backers you are and line up for your poop sandwich) i've said often that i hope the folks that 'invested' in this device get a device of some kind- i still hope you do.
  18. Someone can correct me, of course, if I'm inaccurate, but I think the whole impetus towards the 'not trading from other games' stuff comes with Nintendo wanting to push folks to Pokemon Home, instead. My only beef with Pokemon Sword is that once I finished it, i had a hard time doing much more than the daily jobs or poking around the Wild Zones.
  19. Our XOne is also used almost exclusively as a streaming platform because like you mentioned, it's the best compatible of the devices we own with the exception of my iPad maybe. I get what you're saying with the Switch Online offerings, though. Something I do find really cool, though, are the other compilations that are offered if you don't already own the games (or emulate) a dozen different ways. I enjoy a lot being able to play some of my fave old games on the go. The game companies must know a whale when they see one, because I own on the Switch the Sega Genesis collection, Namco Museum, Street Fighter Anniversary Collection, Capcom Beat-em-up Collection, Castlevania Collection, and Mega Man Legacy Collection vol. 1. I'm willing to admit that I have a problem when it comes to these, lol. I'm considering picking up the Kunio-Kun Collection when it's out as well.
  20. i dunno- i remember games like Eliminator Boat Duel when they first came out, and i really didn't like that particular one even then. for grins, i fired it up this afternoon, played it 30 seconds, then was like 'UUUUUGH, im gonna go play something else!', lol. Shadow of the Ninja felt like to me back then (and still now) that it was just another platformer in a sea of about 1000 platformers on the NES at the time. I much prefer games like Sunsoft's Batman, Vice Project: Doom or Shatterhand instead. some games age better than others, I think. I still TOTALLY dig playing River City Ransom on the NES app, though!
  21. i kind of straddle the fence on the mouse/keyboard versus controller debate. for a long time i preferred to game on the PC at my desk with mouse/kb- i did feel like in that environment mouse/kb gives better control and range of motion when you need it. that being said, honestly for something like that now i'd rather use my controller and sit on the couch simply because i find it more comfortable and enjoyable. I don't play FPS games for a living, I have no need to 'git gud', and I'm perfectly happy blasting raiders/mutants/demons by myself or playing another game co-op with my wife or kids. different people have different ideas of fun, i guess- i'm good with however someone wants to play their whatever till they try to force their opinion down my throat.
  22. for the Tiger games, I had Double Dragon and Simon's Quest as a kid- it was passable for a fun few minutes diversion but I didn't spend any serious time on them.
  23. my dad was super into pinball and computer games in the 70s and early 80s, but I only remember a handful of times he would actively play with me. my mom is *not* an electronics person of any sort really- which made it all the more funny when she finally got a Kindle Fire a year or so ago. sort of like @Flojomojo, my toys/comics/games/etc were pretty much my domain. lots of time spent as a kid with piles of books/comics, Construx, Lego, Transformers, and the like.
